Chapter 80 Ghostly Figures in the Video

"Bai Su, where should we begin?"

Xiao He tilted his head and fell into deep thought.

I don't know if it was intentional or not, but while thinking, she kept swinging her legs, her calves constantly bumping into me.

I moved to the side and said, "Let's start with Bai Su's mother. You told Lao Su last time that Zeng, the richest man, killed her?"

Xiao He nodded and leaned closer to me: "You can't say that. My aunt didn't have money for treatment, and my uncle wouldn't give her a single penny. In the end, my aunt died of illness."

Their breaths were so close they were practically spraying onto my face.

It's one thing if Su Mingyang isn't here, but my brother is sitting right next to me, what's with you sticking so close to me?

Looking at Su Mingyang, his face was as black as charcoal, and he kept drinking in silence.

I simply stood up and switched places with Su Mingyang.

Xiao He tried to stand up and come over, but I pointed at her and said, "If you want to talk, sit down and talk properly. If you don't want to talk, get out!"

Xiao He's expression changed slightly, but she wasn't angry; her eyes just held a hint of resentment.

"Actually, my aunt's husband used to be very good to my aunt, but ever since he met a master, he's become a completely different person. He argues with my aunt all the time, and sometimes he even hits her. Later, he kicked my aunt out of the house, and Bai Su was also kicked out. In the end, my mother took them in."

master?

I pulled up a photo of my grandfather and asked her if this was the person in the photo.

Xiao He shook his head: "I've never seen him. I only heard about him from my mom. She seems to be a feng shui master."

I thought for a moment and asked, "Is Bai Su short of money?"

"That's right, I'm always short of money. My aunt was sick and couldn't afford to go to the hospital. Bai Su borrowed money from all her colleagues, and even borrowed money from my mother. She even borrowed from me, but I don't have any money to lend her. I don't even have enough to spend each month myself."

That makes sense.

No wonder Bai Su agreed to clean Shen Man's new house in the illusion; she must have been desperate.

She never expected that instead of borrowing money, she would be pushed into an abyss.

I then asked, "And then what?"

Xiao He said that later a group of people came to her door and asked her to spread rumors about Bai Su, promising her a promotion and a raise if she did a good job.

All the chat logs she sent to Su Mingyang were fabricated using software. She even used AI to create photos of Bai Su and spread them around to ruin her reputation!

Su Mingyang couldn't help but ask, "Isn't Bai Su your cousin? How could you do this?"

Xiao He sneered: "Do you really think Bai Su is a good person? Don't be fooled by her pitiful appearance all day long. When she was in power, she bullied countless people and even poisoned my uncle. Otherwise, would my uncle have treated them like this?"

I was stunned: "Poisoned?"

"Yes, that time my uncle stormed into my house and asked Bai Su why she tried to poison him and kill him. I guessed that Bai Su wanted the family fortune, but her plan was exposed."

After hearing this, Su Mingyang and I both fell silent.

If what Xiao He said is true, then it makes perfect sense why Zeng, the richest man in China, would kill his own daughter.

But I always felt something was wrong, but I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was.

I asked some more questions, but that was all Xiao He knew.

Before leaving, Xiao He asked for my phone number, saying she would ask her mother for it later and call me if she found out anything.

I didn't give it to him, and told him to contact Su Mingyang if he needed anything.

Watching Su Mingyang stare blankly at Xiao He's departing figure, I really wanted to say, "Stop looking! This woman just had a sudden whim and was playing around with you, you poor bastard."

Just as I was hesitating whether to try to persuade him, Luo Tianhe called.

"Dude, the phone's been hacked, it's in the same private room!"

...

The first thing I did after getting my hands on Niu Hongsheng's phone was to go through his chat history.

They didn't find the crucial information, but they did find a bunch of explicit chat photos between Niu Hongsheng and the female employees of the company, which made Luo Tianhe and his companion stare wide-eyed.

I finally found a video in an encrypted photo album.

The film depicts what happened in the bridal chamber on that day.

Judging from the video angle and image quality, it was clearly taken by Niu Hongsheng himself, perhaps intending to use it to blackmail the village chief later.

Just as I was feeling extremely disappointed, Su Mingyang suddenly pointed at the video and let out a strange shout.

"Holy crap, something's wrong!"

Is it a ghost?

I hurriedly asked him where he was.

"At the end of the video, when you rushed in from outside, there was a dark shadow flash by in the upper right corner."

I opened the video again, fast-forwarded to the part Su Mingyang mentioned, and paused it.

The video shows that the scene shook violently and there was a surge of people the moment I kicked the door open and rushed in.

Near the end of the video recording, a blurry figure wearing a baseball cap appeared in the upper right corner.

However, due to the constant camera shake, the image was extremely blurry.

I stared intently at the figure, and could vaguely make out the familiar attire; it seemed to be the person who had saved me twice.

The camera was shaking so badly that I couldn't see the facial features clearly; I could only make out the outline.

I pointed to the person in the video and asked Luo Tianhe, "Brother Luo, doesn't this person look like the one who saved us back then?"

"Huh, it really is!"

Luo Tianhe squinted, then shook his head and said, "It's too blurry, I can't see the face clearly."

I asked him if there was any way to figure out the person's facial features, maybe that would lead to the mastermind.

Luo Tianhe asked me how I could be so sure.

I said that Huang Xiangu once said that the reason she went blind was because she saw an old man performing a ritual.
