In the candlelight, Huang Xiangu, with her hair disheveled, sat upright.
Those eyes, devoid of white, stared straight ahead. Su Mingyang also noticed something amiss and, startled, quickly lowered his head, his hands trembling uncontrollably.
The brazier was placed right in front of them, but the paper money was scattered everywhere, and not a single piece was thrown in.
I didn't care about him anymore and asked cautiously, "Are you... Bai Su?"
She didn't respond, just sat there stiffly.
What does this mean?
Is she actually Bai Su? Give me some feedback.
I looked at Jin Ye beside me, wanting to get some advice.
Jin didn't speak, but after glancing at the Bagua mirror in his hand, he nodded to me to indicate that there was no danger and told me to continue asking questions.
I thought for a moment, then asked, "Why are you bothering me and Yanzu?"
Master Jin specifically instructed that we couldn't use our real names, so we could only use nicknames instead. 'Yanzu' was the name Su Mingyang temporarily gave himself.
Huang Xiangu remained silent, but her upper body moved closer to me at an extremely eerie, slow pace.
Every inch of movement was accompanied by a slight "clicking" sound from the joints.
As she drew closer, I could clearly smell a putrid stench emanating from her.
The smell was like the stench of a corpse forgotten in a dark corner for many years, which went straight into my nostrils and made my stomach churn.
Immediately afterwards, her left eye slowly split in two in an extremely terrifying way.
Those two halves of the eyeball seemed to have their own independent lives, one half staring straight at me.
The other half, at a distorted angle, locked onto Su Mingyang, who was burning paper, as if scrutinizing his prey.
As for his right eye, it was staring straight at the two scarecrows on the table with my and Su Mingyang's birth dates written on them.
She was trying to distinguish between the "I" who was speaking and the scarecrow on the table, trying to figure out which one was the real "I".
"Quickly tell her what I told you before, don't let her think about it. Once she confirms that what's on the table is fake, you'll be in danger!" Jin urged in a low voice.
I didn't dare delay and hurriedly asked her, "Bai Su, is there something you need us to help you with? If you really have any difficulties, as long as it's within my ability, I will definitely do my best. I also hope you won't keep bothering me and Yanzu."
No sooner had I asked than Huang Xiangu's body suddenly began to convulse violently.
The neck twisted at an angle that defied normal human skeletal structure, making a terrifying "crackling" sound.
Immediately afterwards, she raised her hands sharply upwards and frantically scratched in the air.
His mouth was wide open, and a low, hoarse "clucking" sound came from his throat, as if a thousand words were stuck in his throat by an inexplicable force, unable to be spoken freely.
What's going on?
We were having a nice chat, how did it suddenly turn into a berserk mode?
Everything I asked was exactly what Master Jin instructed me to do; I didn't say anything wrong.
Su Mingyang, who was squatting down burning paper money, saw Huang Xiangu's hand sweep across his head. He was so frightened that he fell to the ground with a thud and shouted in terror, "Master Jin, help me!"
"Fuck your mother!"
Jin Ye pointed at Su Mingyang, furious.
But at this moment, Master Jin didn't bother to deal with Su Mingyang, this fool who spoke without thinking, and grabbed a handful of glutinous rice and sprinkled it on Huang Xiangu.
However, things did not go as planned.
Huang Xiangu not only did not calm down, but her body convulsed even more violently than before.
The convulsions were so severe that it seemed as if all the bones in the body were being dislocated and rearranged.
The already eerie face was now twisted beyond recognition.
Within those split eyeballs, a strange, blood-red light faintly flickered.
The air grew increasingly cold, and a chilly wind howled.
The wandering ghosts that came to steal food were also frightened and disappeared.
Even without Jin Ye saying it, I knew that Bai Su's resentment was rising rapidly.
Jin Ye yelled at me, "Nicholas, don't tell her it's within our power, say it's a must! No matter what, agree to all her demands first!"
I hurriedly said to Huang Xiangu, "Bai Su, write down what you need us to do. I will do it even if it costs me my life. If I can't do it, I'll make Yanzu infertile but still have a house full of children and grandchildren!"
"Damn it..."
Before Su Mingyang could finish his rant, Master Jin delivered a flying kick: "Go burn some paper money over there!"
Then, Master Jin quickly took out a fresh, green willow leaf from his pocket and placed it on the center of Huang Xiangu's forehead.
"The spirit should not be hasty. Let it enter the body peacefully. Do not disturb it. Maintain order."
Huang Xiangu's body stiffened abruptly, as if bound by an invisible rope.
The body that had been twisting wildly froze instantly, and the distorted expression on its face also solidified at that moment.
Immediately afterwards, wisps of faint black smoke slowly seeped out from her pores, filling the air with a pungent, putrid odor.
The split eyeballs gradually stopped their eerie rotation and slowly returned to normal, though their eyes remained filled with resentment.
Seeing this, I quickly and carefully handed the paper and pen that I had prepared to Huang Xiangu.
As for that good-for-nothing Su Mingyang, he knelt on the ground, crying and throwing paper money into the brazier, not daring to lift his head.
Huang Xiangu took the pen and began to write crookedly on the paper.
Her pen-holding posture was very rough; she gripped the pen with all five fingers, making it more like drawing than writing.
I leaned closer to take a look and found the words "[Rabbit Ear Village]" written on the paper.
Rabbit Ear Village?
I remember Huang Tao saying that Niu Hongsheng died after going to Rabbit Ear Village, and that his death was very strange.
