It turned out that what was hidden behind the door wasn't clothes at all, but the old lady's deceased daughter!
The nanny killed Xiaofen long ago!
The sound of rushing water reached my ears.
When I opened my eyes again, I found that I had somehow walked into the living room.
The old lady was still sitting on the sofa with her back to me, watching the silent television. The flickering blue light reflected on her face, making her look particularly eerie.
Just then, the old lady, who had been intently watching TV, suddenly turned her head and stared straight at me.
What are you doing in my house?
Just as I was about to explain, the old lady's face contorted, and she screamed, "Ah Hong, Ah Hong, come out quickly!"
As soon as I finished speaking, I felt a chill run down my spine.
I turned around and saw the murderous nanny standing in front of me with a fruit knife.
She was still wearing that loose dress, and the fruit knife in her hand gleamed menacingly in the dim light.
"Who are you? Why are you here?!"
The nanny's voice was cold and mechanical, like the sound of gears that hadn't been oiled in a long time.
I glanced down at my cleaner's uniform and quickly said, "I...I'm here to clean!"
The nanny stared into my eyes for a full half minute before finally saying "oh" and putting down the fruit knife in her hand.
"If there's nothing else, I'll be going now!"
I pretended nothing had happened and that I hadn't seen anything, and turned around to walk step by step toward the door.
I walked very slowly.
It wasn't that they didn't want to run, but the other party had seen through their scheme.
Although I am not afraid, it would be a lie to say that I am not nervous. This nervousness is not based on emotional tension, but rather on an instinctive reaction to danger.
I was afraid she would suddenly stab me in the back.
Fortunately, the nanny didn't make any move on me when I walked out of room 201.
Before I could even catch my breath, the nanny's voice rang out again.
Her voice was very close, almost whispering in my ear.
"How come I've never seen you before?"
I didn't turn my head, but out of the corner of my eye I could see her standing right behind me. Water droplets dripping from the tips of her hair slid down my neck and into my clothes, making me shiver from the cold.
"I just arrived," I replied, trying to sound calm.
"Oh, don't just barge into other people's homes next time, it's very impolite!"
After I finished speaking, the door behind me slammed shut.
Do I want to go in?
I didn't want to, and I don't know why I went in. I opened my eyes and found myself standing in the living room.
Who can I tell about this grievance?
Room 202 is opposite room 201.
However, the door was closed. Having learned from my previous experience, I simply knocked lightly and asked, "Is anyone home?"
After waiting for more than ten seconds, there was still no response.
He's probably not home.
I knocked on the door of apartment 203 in the middle again.
There has still been no response.
I walked up the stairs, and knocked on the door of each house I passed.
I would never have done this if it weren't for finding Liu Sandao's soul.
Who knows what will happen after you knock on the door?
When I got to the fourth floor and knocked on the door of room 403, the door creaked open.
What comes into view is a small room.
The space, which is only about ten square meters, is crammed with four bunk beds, making it feel extremely cramped.
The room was dimly lit, with the only window completely covered by heavy curtains, letting in only a few weak rays of light to barely illuminate the furnishings.
I glanced around and saw a few pairs of stockings casually tossed on the bed, and several pairs of high heels scattered haphazardly under the bed.
Based on these items, it's easy to deduce that this should be a girls' dormitory.
This is a common practice. To save costs, many restaurant owners often rent rooms in these old residential buildings to provide food and lodging for their employees.
I looked around the room but couldn't find Liu Sandao anywhere. The beds were empty, and there wasn't a soul in sight.
Just as I was about to turn and leave, I caught a glimpse of two dark figures huddled on the bunk bed near the toilet.
The two dark figures were moving, but because the light was too dim, it was impossible to tell what they were doing.
After confirming that I hadn't seen Liu Sandao, I secretly breathed a sigh of relief and slowly backed away as quietly as possible.
Just as I stepped back to the doorway and was about to turn around, my back suddenly bumped into something.
The touch was cold and stiff, like hitting a pillar.
As soon as I turned around, I saw four little girls standing quietly behind me.
They were pale, their skin almost transparent, and they were each carrying some plastic bags.
The bag contained some vegetables, tofu, and other ingredients.
Do ghosts need to buy groceries too?
But thinking back to what happened downstairs just now, could it be that what I'm seeing now are all the people who died suddenly that day?
Having learned from my previous experience, I quickly tugged at my slightly worn sanitation worker uniform and explained with a forced smile.
"I'm a new sanitation worker, here to clean up."
Hearing this, the four girls looked me up and down suspiciously, making me feel very uncomfortable.
Just when I thought I could fool them, one of the thin girls reached out and grabbed my arm.
Her hands were icy cold, her fingertips digging deep into my skin like animal claws.
