Will I die?
You'd die if you ate that much!
My instinct was to argue back, but for some reason, the words just wouldn't come out.
Seeing Lin Da's face, I had no intention of arguing.
"Believe me, Master Chen! This is your destiny! It is yours, Chen Yan's, and also Chen Bazhong's!"
But Lin Da's next sentence left me even more confused.
I looked up at him, puzzled. I wanted to ask him why, but Lin Da seemed unwilling to dwell on the topic.
"Master Chen, I've said all I have to say, please believe me this once!"
If you had listened to me at noon today, you wouldn't be in such a predicament. But at least you ate a bite or two!
Lin Da glanced at the food and continued speaking.
I was immediately startled, and recalling what had happened today, it seemed that it really was true.
Before I could ask any more questions, Lin Da bowed to me, turned around, and left.
Before leaving, he added, "Don't worry, Master Chen, although there may be a lot of food, it's all good for you, and you can eat it all!"
Looking at this meal, which resembled a Manchu Han Imperial Feast, I was at a loss as to where to begin.
I opened the door, intending to call Lao Dao and Ant over for a meal, but for some reason, those two were nowhere to be found.
There was nothing I could do but listen to Lin Da and start eating the food.
After all, Lin Da was right. If Lao Dao hadn't given me that chicken leg at noon today, I probably wouldn't have been able to escape.
Besides, we've already eaten lunch, so even if there are problems with dinner, we don't really care.
I pulled up a chair and sat down, then started eating the meat in big bites.
To be honest, the food here is really good; both the meat and vegetable dishes are prepared in a very professional manner.
I ate with great relish, taking big bites, and before I knew it, all the food on the table was gone.
I was a little dumbfounded myself, because I've never eaten this much in my life.
Something's definitely up to the blue. I have a feeling something's going to happen tonight.
"Did you notice anything unusual just now, Lightning Sword?"
I glanced at the Thunder Strike Sword and asked him.
Lei Jijian shook his body, telling me that everything was normal just now, except that I had eaten a little more than usual.
"A little bit too much," I couldn't help but complain, "that's way too much!"
I put away all the bowls, chopsticks, and plates, then pushed open the door and ran next door to knock on Old Knife and the ants.
There was no reaction from the ants, but at that moment Old Knife opened the door.
"Brother Chen, you look great!"
When Lao Dao opened the door and saw it was me, he happily asked me a question.
Then Lao Dao stared at my face and opened his mouth wide.
"Brother Chen, did you eat again just now?"
In response to Lao Dao's question, I nodded; I didn't hide anything.
"Lin Da just came to my room and brought me lots and lots of food, and I didn't refuse him!"
I've finished all the food. I just felt something was off, so I asked you and the ants!
I told Lao Dao everything that had just happened.
Old Dao stroked his chin, deep in thought.
"Brother Chen, you'll become younger if you eat that food! Your body will recover quickly too. But Butler Lin told you that you'll die if you don't eat it tonight. Could it be related to a ghost marriage?"
As expected, Lao Dao did not disappoint me. His ideas were all wildly imaginative, taking me on several roundabout routes.
"A ghost marriage?"
I shuddered after hearing that. If it weren't for what happened today, I probably would have just scoffed at that word.
But I think what happened at noon today was all normal.
That Lin Momo actually wants to use me to break my light.
"In short, Brother Chen, you should be careful. This courtyard is eerie, and if we're not careful, we could be doomed!"
The old Taoist priest's lips moved, and he still gave me a suggestion.
"By the way, have you eaten with the ants?"
I thanked Lao Dao and casually mentioned my concern.
"No, I was just wondering why Butler Lin only brings you food and not us!"
Old Dao rubbed his stomach and cursed.
His once plump belly has now become shriveled and is making gurgling noises.
Just as Lao Dao continued to complain, Butler Lin came over.
However, Butler Lin only brought four kinds of dishes this time.
The treatment they receive is worlds apart from mine.
"It's finally here! I couldn't wait!"
Old Dao swallowed hard.
No matter what, the food at lunch today was absolutely delicious.
Old Dao was already drooling over the food in the basket.
Lin Da merely glanced at Lao Dao, put the food back in Lao Dao's room, and left without saying a word.
"Master Chen, it seems you've listened to me this time. Don't worry, I won't harm you!"
Lin Da glanced at me, his eyes filled with satisfaction. It seemed that my performance this time had pleased him.
I nodded to Lin Da as a way of expressing my gratitude.
"Go back inside! Here's one last piece of advice: if you can't resist, then accept it!"
Lin Da then gave me this last sentence.
After hearing this, my lips twitched uncontrollably. I don't know why, but this sentence didn't sound like a nice thing to say.
It always feels like something like that.
And so, Lin Da left, and I followed his advice and went back to my room.
I continued to study my spells, and surprisingly, after eating the food Lin Da gave me, my learning efficiency improved significantly.
Things that would normally take two or three days to master can be learned in less than half a minute here.
If it weren't for the fact that this place felt a bit eerie, I would even think I'm a genius.
I'm currently studying the notes Yingniang gave me, the notes the aunt gave me, and the notes I got from Lao Luo. Before I knew it, it was already late at night.
However, at that moment, the lights in my room became quite bright.
We used kerosene lamps for lighting, which were much dimmer than candles.
However, the room was made transparent.
I'm a little panicked.
Just then, the door to the room opened, revealing a familiar face: Lin Momo.
This time, Lin Momo's long hair was loose, and she was wearing a red wedding dress, exactly the same as when she was in the coffin.
The key point is that its complexion is rosy, and I can't tell whether it's a human or a ghost.
I used my Heavenly Eye to examine Lin Momo's body and found that the vitality within her was extremely strong.
Vast as the sea, ever-flowing with life.
After Lin Momo came in, I recalled what Lin Da had said, and I think I understood what he meant.
Damn it, this is supposed to be fun for me!
I couldn't help but take two steps back.
