I was stunned when I heard Zhang Teng's words.
How could that be? Did I guess wrong?
But there's only one possibility!
Li Huai tugged at Zhang Teng's arm:
"Tell the master the truth, if you're hiding anything, even a god can't save you!"
"I really didn't curse, I was just drunk at the time and my mind wasn't very clear."
Zhang Teng looked conflicted and continued:
"When he asked me that, I remembered a video I'd watched before, and I blurted out, 'You look like a white-haired, flat-chested loli with animal ears.'"
Upon hearing this, Li Huai, Luo Tianhe, and I were all stunned.
This guy is truly an extraordinary person!
No wonder Wong Tai Sin was so angry. He's a male weasel, and you called him a little girl. If it were me, I would want to tear him to pieces too.
But since things had come to this, I braced myself and asked:
"Then what?"
"Then it let out a shrill scream and started shaking violently like it had Parkinson's disease, with thick black smoke billowing from its body. I realized I had probably gotten into trouble, so I ran away as fast as I could. I hadn't gone far when I encountered a taxi. I was terrified and didn't even try to negotiate the price with the driver. I ended up getting ripped off."
"There's no hope. Just wait to die."
I waved my hand, looking exhausted.
Zhang Teng suddenly knelt down in front of me, hugged my leg, and burst into tears.
"Master, please save me! Only you can save me. I'm still young and don't want to die."
Seeing his friend like this, Li Huai's anger subsided, and he looked at me pleadingly:
"Brother Yan, please save him! He's just a little foolish, he doesn't deserve to die."
I sighed. What I said earlier was just an angry outburst. Of course, I wouldn't just watch him die.
"Ordinary exorcism methods are completely ineffective against them and may even exacerbate the conflict."
At this point, I looked at Zhang Teng and said, "According to the rules passed down from our ancestors, the one who tied the knot must untie it. Since we have offended the immortals, we can only follow the old rules—apologize and ask for forgiveness."
"How can I beg for forgiveness, Master? I'll do anything you ask if you can spare my life!"
Zhang Teng looked up at me, a grown man, crying like this without any shame.
I glared at him and quickly assigned tasks: "Li Huai, take a taxi to the nearest rural market immediately and prepare three things: a lively rooster with a bright red comb, three sticks of top-quality sandalwood, and a jar of strong, pure grain liquor, undiluted!"
"Luo Tianhe, drive to the nearby incense and candle shop and dry goods shop, and buy some of the offerings that Wong Tai Sin likes the most—fresh fried tofu, free-range eggs, and roasted peanuts. Make sure you get two of each to show your sincerity."
Knowing the situation was urgent, the two turned and left without saying a word.
While they were preparing, I helped the extremely weak Zhang Teng to sit in the center of the living room.
I took out the cinnabar and iron sand mixture powder that I carried with me, mixed it with a small amount of water, and carefully drew a standard Bagua diagram on the floor.
Fearing the formation wasn't powerful enough, I gritted my teeth, tore off the scab on my palm, and smeared my blood on the center of the formation.
Gratitude flashed in Zhang Teng's eyes.
He wasn't stupid; he knew I was his only hope. The other masters couldn't even see anything amiss, but I was the only one who immediately noticed something was wrong and figured out the reason.
After drawing the formation, I casually tore off a piece of toilet paper and wrapped it in my palm, then had Zhang Teng kneel on both knees at the yin-yang fish eye position of the Bagua formation.
“Listen, Zhang Teng,” I crouched down, looked him straight in the eye, and spoke with unprecedented seriousness.
"No matter what strange sights you see, what strange sounds you hear, or even if you feel something touching you or breathing in your ear, you absolutely must not look up, make a sound, or run away! You must abandon all distracting thoughts and only sincerely repent! This is your only chance, understand?"
Zhang Teng now trusts everything I say 100%, even regarding it as divine revelation.
At that moment, he nodded frantically as if grasping at a straw, his teeth chattering: "I understand, Master, I will definitely do as you say!"
I nodded. I had done the best I could. Whether Zhang Teng survives or not is up to him now.
Time passed slowly, and I closed my eyes to rest, while Zhang Teng waited silently.
He dared not close his eyes and rest like I did. If he fell asleep at this crucial moment, he would really be doomed!
Finally, Li Huai and Luo Tianhe returned one after the other, bringing everything they needed.
"Live chickens were a bit hard to buy at night, which took up some time."
Li Huai wiped the sweat from his forehead and explained.
I nodded. I could understand. Li Huai must have gone to a lot of trouble late at night to buy a lively, healthy rooster.
Zhang Teng then kowtowed directly to Li Huai and said in a deep voice:
"Li Huai, from now on, if you need anything, just call me. If I say no, may I be struck by lightning!"
Li Huai waved his hand, "We're friends, it's only right."
I set up a makeshift altar table in front of the Bagua formation, neatly arranged fried tofu, eggs, and peanuts, and lit three thick sticks of sandalwood incense.
The cigarette smoke rose straight up, but when it reached about the height of a person, it strangely and against the laws of physics swirled in the air, forming a tiny smoke ring, before slowly dissipating.
Immediately, I opened the jar of liquor, and its rich aroma filled the air.
I slowly poured it around the Bagua formation, my movements meticulous, while clearly and respectfully reciting the [Summoning Incantation] used to communicate with spirits:
"Green hills and clear waters cultivate true nature, the Yellow Immortal's methods are boundless. Today, a mortal surnamed Zhang, ignorant and disrespectful, offends the immortal's countenance. With mortal eyes, he cannot recognize the saint, and his transgressions after drinking are immeasurable. We have prepared a small gift, incense, candles, wine, and food, to offer before you. We dare not ask for fame or fortune, but only hope that the immortals will be magnanimous and resolve this grievance, turning it into smoke."
After the incantation was recited, the room fell into a deathly silence, so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
Li Huai and Luo Tianhe both felt something was wrong; it was too quiet, and the hustle and bustle of the city had disappeared.
Suddenly, a sharp and eerie cry came from outside the window without any warning!
The sound was strange; I was sure I had never heard it before, but it sent chills down my spine and made my scalp tingle.
Almost simultaneously, the rooster in the corner, its feet tied with a red rope, which had been pecking at the millet on the ground, suddenly seemed to sense the arrival of its predator. It began to flap its wings frantically, clucking in terror, its feathers flying everywhere.
On the offering table, the golden fried tofu at the very front had a corner missing silently in our sight, as if something had taken a bite out of it!
Instantly, I knew it was here!
Moreover, the person who came is definitely not a stranger to us.
