Chapter 442 The Strange Room

After making a simple grave for Fatty, Lao Dao and I returned the way we came.

We easily found our way back to the courtyard where the old lady lived.

The older woman was waiting for us in the room.

"Old brother, you're back!"

The woman smiled, looking very composed, as if she had expected everything.

"Why did you lie to me? Zhou the tailor was suspicious from the very beginning, wasn't he?"

I calmly looked at the older woman and asked her my question.

This woman knew a great deal from the very beginning.

Moreover, our meeting was not a coincidence, but rather premeditated.

"Brother, it seems you knew everything! And you even killed him!"

The older woman remained composed and dignified, but she showed no hostility towards me.

Actually, I should thank the auntie. If it weren't for the amulet she gave me, I might have been possessed by Zhou the tailor.

"He practiced evil magic and tried to possess my body. If it weren't for this thing protecting me at the most crucial moment, he might have actually succeeded!"

My tone softened as I pulled the amulet, which was about to turn to ashes, from my pocket.

In other words, the old lady had anticipated that I would be possessed, which is why she made this in advance.

"So why are you helping me?"

"Because you are approved by the Owl God, it's more accurate to say that we trust the Owl God than to trust you!"

The older woman's tone remained calm, which moved me somewhat, because her reason was exactly the same as the fat woman's.

Suddenly, the older woman leaned close to me, sniffed me, and her expression changed abruptly.

"Did Sister Leng die because of you?"

The older woman suddenly blurted out this sentence.

"Sister Leng?"

I raised my voice, and my heart skipped a beat.

Could the "cold sister" that the old lady was talking about be the same "fat sister"?

"That's right, it tastes just like Sister Leng."

The older woman checked and then nodded.

"It was the landlady who hosted you in the county town. I can't believe you don't even know her name after making such a great sacrifice for you?"

The older woman laughed.

I blushed a little. Lao Dao and I only called the fat woman "Sister Fatty," but I really didn't know her real name.

"Sister Leng's name is Leng Ningran. Since Sister Leng has chosen to sacrifice her life to protect you, then I will trust you this once!"

The older woman's eyes softened slightly, suggesting that her relationship with the fat woman was definitely more than just ordinary.

"So Fatty's name is Leng Ningran! I'll remember that!"

I repeated the name over and over again, and will remember it forever in my heart.

If it weren't for Fatty, Lao Dao and I would have died long ago.

"You're right, it was intentional from the very beginning when I approached you, but don't worry, I have no ill intentions towards you!"

The older woman pulled me to a seat and began to tell me the whole story.

Old Dao and I sat down and listened attentively.

The older woman recounted her relationship with the chubby woman, and even shed tears when she got emotional.

It's clear that the woman wasn't lying.

"Before she passed away, Sister Leng entrusted me with the task of breaking the seal on her sister. You must be Sister Leng's sister?"

I looked at the older woman and then took the letter out of my pocket.

It was folded slightly in half, revealing only the part that the fat woman had asked me to unseal.

Upon seeing the letter, the woman was moved to tears.

"Although Sister Leng said that, I think the person mentioned in the letter is Sister Leng's own sister!"

The woman shook her head slightly after returning the letter to me.

"Then let me ask you! Are there any seals on your body? Answer me!"

I put the letter in my pocket and started yelling at the old lady.

When the older woman saw me like this, she was completely stumped by my probing question.

"Yes! I do have a seal on me..."

"Then why are you spouting nonsense? I think Sister Leng was referring to her biological sister, and you should be considered her adopted sister." I said irritably.

I really didn't expect that this middle-aged woman would be so familiar with the fat woman.

Considering that the woman had never explicitly harmed me before, I decided to trust her this once.

"Brother, I wasn't always like this..."

The plump woman's eyes softened, and her expression changed when she looked at me.

"I know you didn't always look like this. You must have been under some kind of seal, just like me, which turned you into an old woman!"

I wasn't surprised; Lao Dao and I had already guessed this.

"How could you..."

When the older woman heard me say this, she was even more surprised. She didn't expect that I could guess it.

"I'm not stupid. Look at your hands, they don't look like those of a middle-aged woman."

I pointed to the older woman's hands, mainly because those hands were just too obvious.

"But sister, let me make this clear beforehand: I can only do my best to break the seal on you, but whether it can be completely removed is another matter!"

I'm a meticulous person, so I made sure to explain things to the older woman beforehand.

"I know that. Just do your best, brother. As long as you're willing to help me, I still have a chance to recover."

The older woman had already anticipated this, so she had no objections.

"More than that, I want to know what happened to you over there? Why did Sister Leng die there?"

The older woman changed the subject, and it seemed just as I had thought: the relationship between the older woman and Fatty was indeed extraordinary, and she was still concerned about Fatty.

I explained the whole story to the old lady in detail, from killing Zhou the tailor to the appearance of Fatty.
