Who is that?
How the hell should I know who that is!
Are you sure Chen Yan is still inside?
I turned to look at Su Mingyang.
As I said this, a strange feeling inexplicably welled up inside me.
Su Mingyang nodded vigorously: "Yes, he was still inside before I came out."
As he spoke, he kept glancing toward the direction of morgue number three, as if afraid that "I" might jump out at any moment.
The situation in morgue number three was too bizarre; I didn't have the guts to go in alone.
Who knows what the situation is like inside?
If that really is a person, then it's fine.
But if it were some other strange or bizarre thing, with my current abilities, I have no confidence in subduing it.
Normally, my first reaction to something like this would be to go find Master Jin.
But now, Jin Ye is injured.
Even if he were perfectly fine, I still wouldn't believe him deep down.
I even started to suspect that these "two selves" that suddenly appeared might just be a trick played by that old fox, Jin Ye.
That old man has a lot of hidden agendas.
But apart from him, I really don't know anyone else who can help deal with these strange things, which makes me feel extremely frustrated and helpless.
After thinking for a while, I took out my phone and dialed Luo Tianhe's number.
After the call connected, I asked anxiously, "Hey, Brother Luo, have you caught 'me' on Fengqing Street yet?"
Luo Tianhe's heavy breathing came from the other end of the phone.
"What's the point of catching it? That guy's like a slippery eel; he disappears in the blink of an eye. There's no way to catch him!"
“I also have a ‘me’ here, come over here quickly.” I raised my voice.
"Holy crap, that kid ran off to your side?" Luo Tianhe asked in surprise.
I said no, there are two fake versions of me. Forget about the one on the pedestrian street, hurry up and come over here with more people, and be quick!
After hanging up the phone, neither Su Mingyang nor I dared to step into Morgue No. 3. Instead, we squatted in a corner and smoked.
Although Luo Tianhe was also afraid of these supernatural things, he could call for help. With more people, there was more strength, and he would feel more at ease.
During the time I was waiting for Luo Tianhe, I briefly recounted to him all the strange things that had happened during that period.
He listened with wide eyes, occasionally letting out exclamations of "Ah!" and "Oh!"
I know he needs some time to process these unbelievable things.
After waiting for more than ten minutes, a hearse slowly drove up.
Upon closer inspection, this was not our funeral home's hearse; the words "Xishan Funeral Home in the Outer Suburbs" were printed on the vehicle.
Two staff members in dark blue overalls jumped out of the hearse and walked straight toward morgue number three.
I noticed that the name tags these two people wore on their chests were wrapped with a red string.
This is a traditional method used by veteran employees of the funeral home to deal with evil spirits.
Moreover, when they passed by, I smelled a faint sandalwood scent, which is extremely rare in funeral homes.
It is usually only used when dealing with corpses that have died violently.
Did they also notice that Li Hui's body was not normal?
I turned to look at the corner where Li Hui was standing and found that he was gone.
Seeing this, I turned to Su Mingyang and asked, "I forgot to ask you earlier, wasn't Li Hui's body cremated here? Why was it picked up by a vehicle from another funeral home?"
Su Mingyang looked around nervously, and after confirming that no one was around, he lowered his voice and said.
"The deputy curator specifically instructed that Li Hui's body should be sent to Xishan Funeral Home for disposal. I don't know the specific reason."
Was it instructed by the deputy curator?
Alarm bells rang in my mind, and an ominous premonition welled up inside me.
The scene was exactly the same as when Bai Su's body was brought here.
At that time, Sister Wu also sent everyone away with a solemn expression, leaving only Su Mingyang and me to keep vigil.
Recalling the strange noises coming from the morgue that night, and the series of bizarre events that followed, I wondered to myself, could it be another 'Bai Su'?
"Is there anything unusual about Li Hui's body?" I suppressed my unease and continued to ask.
Su Mingyang frowned, thought for a while, and then said, "No, it's just that his head is a little cracked."
"Your head is a little broken?" I repeated his words.
Su Mingyang gave a heavy "hmm".
"Three days ago, when Li Hui was moving the body, he lost his footing and fell down the back stairs, hitting the back of his head on a fire hydrant. He died on the spot!"
As he spoke, he gestured to illustrate the actions he had taken at the time, his voice tinged with regret.
I continued, "Think about it carefully. It's impossible to send him to Xishan for no reason. You know that Xishan Funeral Home is a place that specializes in handling the funerals of prominent and distinguished people."
“But who is Li Hui? He lost both his parents at a young age and grew up in an orphanage. If he hadn’t come to the funeral home, he wouldn’t even have been able to get a meal.”
"It can't be as melodramatic as in novels, where his parents aren't actually dead, but have gone into hiding. His father is incredibly powerful, and his mother is the daughter of some mysterious family. The three-year period is up, and they've come to take their son away? That's too outrageous."
Su Mingyang suddenly grabbed my wrist.
His palms were icy cold, like frozen meat just taken out of the freezer; the chill instantly spread from his wrists throughout his body.
"actually……"
Su Mingyang swallowed, seemingly struggling with whether or not to say what he was going to say next.
