Chapter 1497 Crime of Desecrating a Corpse

As soon as I finished speaking, Luo Tianhe's face turned ugly.

He said the incense ash had a special sandalwood scent, which he found quite pleasant and even took a few more sniffs.

To my surprise, the coffin board was made of sandalwood and was mixed with human ashes!

Li Huai, standing to the side, immediately looked relieved. Luckily, I hadn't assigned him this task; he didn't want to collect someone's ashes.

The green candlelight has returned to its normal yellow, and although it still flickers, I know it's not over yet.

The demon was severely injured, but it did not leave.

I took out a yellow talisman, bit the tip of my tongue where it had just scabbed over, and my face contorted in pain.

But I couldn't care less about that, and I spat out another mouthful of true yang blood onto the talisman.

"Yang energy drives away evil, bad luck dissipates, and illness is cured!"

The talisman instantly burst into flames, turning into a bright ball of fire, which I slammed onto the ground.

The flames extinguished upon touching the ground, but a pale golden light quickly spread outwards.

Instantly, the chilly atmosphere in the air vanished.

The incandescent light bulb, which was just crackling, suddenly turned on.

I looked at the wall, where my triangular bone needle was still embedded, but the wall had returned to normal, except for a slightly noticeable gap left by the triangular bone needle.

I put away the three-edged bone needle and leaned weakly against the metal cabinet. I felt all the strength drained from my body. The wound on my back hurt so much that my vision went black and my mouth was full of the taste of blood.

"Is it over?" Li Huai's voice was hoarse, carrying a hint of relief after surviving a disaster.

I looked out the window and replied, "Yeah, everything should be fine."

Upon hearing this, Luo Tianhe put the incense ash back in its place and then ran to the bathroom to wash his hands.

After resting for a while, the door to the inner room was finally opened, and Daoist Zhang Qingxiao came out.

His face was pale, not much better than ours, and even his steps were unsteady. It was the first time I had ever seen Master Zhang Qingxiao so weak.

But his eyes remained bright and sharp. He first glanced at the three of us, then looked at the marks left by the three-edged bone needles on the wall, the incense ash on the ground, and the remaining talismans for warding off evil spirits.

"Was something dirty just now?" he asked, frowning.

"Yes, they must have chased us from the graveyard."

Zhang Qingxiao nodded noncommittally.

"I'm going back now. Old Dao is out of danger, but he's still in poor condition. You should find a doctor to take a look at him."

After saying that, Zhang Qingxiao left on his own. I quickly struggled to get up and went out to see him off.

At this moment, a sliver of light appeared on the horizon, and it was beginning to get bright.

I escorted Zhang Qingxiao to the door and hailed a taxi for him before returning to the funeral home.

Li Huai was still sprawled out in the living room, while Luo Tianhe went in to see Lao Dao.

When I returned, Li Huai greeted me listlessly, then got up to rest. I was also too exhausted to care about Luo Tianhe anymore.

There are sleeping areas in the funeral home, but we rarely stay there to sleep.

Nobody has the energy to make a fuss right now. Going back to my house or Luo Tianhe's house is just a decision to sleep here for the night.

When I woke up, it was already the afternoon of the next day.

Luo Tianhe and Li Huai were both there, and they woke up before me. After all, they weren't like me, injured and bleeding, and their spirits were exhausted.

"You're finally awake. Let's go."

Luo Tianhe said excitedly.

I was a little confused. "Where are we going?"

“Where else can you go? Find my master, he can take a look at the wound on your back. And Old Knife, after all, he’s my master, he’s the real professional.”

Li Huai said weakly.

He had a premonition that he would be scolded by his master, so he wasn't very enthusiastic.

Going to Doctor Sun's place? That's a pretty good choice. His medical skills are superb, and he also has some knowledge of Yin and Yang principles...

Moreover, Zhang Qingxiao had previously said that we should find a professional doctor to take a look.

Dr. Sun is undoubtedly the best choice!

Now, although the cause of Lao Dao's illness has been eliminated and his vital signs have stabilized,

However, his skin still showed signs of rigor mortis and decay.

If we went to a regular hospital, they would probably advise us to just take the body to the funeral home and cremate it.

The scariest thing is that if we don't listen to their advice, they might call the police and charge us with desecrating a corpse.

Thinking of this, I couldn't help but shudder and slap my thigh:

"Let me get ready and wash up, then we'll go find Dr. Sun."

"good."

I quickly finished packing and took Luo Tianhe's van to Dr. Sun's place.

Buwentang wasn't too far from the funeral home, and Luo Tianhe knew the way well, so we arrived there in no time.

Li Huai looked dejected; he was clearly apprehensive about facing his eccentric master.

Old Dao is still delirious and lies in the back, covered with a blanket.

Although his breathing was relatively steady, the bluish-black lividity and horrific signs of decay on his exposed skin were still shocking enough to easily frighten a child.

The car eventually stopped in front of the Buwen Hall.

Li Huai got out of the car slowly, took several deep breaths, and like a primary school student who hadn't brought his homework, knocked on the half-closed old wooden door.

"Stop knocking, the door isn't locked, come in."

A robust old man's voice came from inside.

Li Huai pushed open the door, and we followed him inside.

Upon seeing that it was us, Doctor Sun's face lit up with joy, but he couldn't help but glare at Li Huai.

"This is a clinic, and also your second home. Don't you have hands? Can't you just open the door or knock?"

Dr. Sun began to curse, clearly dissatisfied with Li Huai's somewhat distant behavior.

Li Huai gave an awkward smile and could only nod perfunctorily.

"Hmph! You're so lazy, what have you been up to all this time!"

Dr. Sun's voice remained harsh, and his eyes were like knives, causing Li Huai to shrink back even further.

A bitter smile crept onto Li Huai's lips.

It's really not his fault. It was such a big deal, he couldn't just stand by and watch me and Luo Tianhe get into such a dangerous situation.

I quickly stepped forward and said:

"Dr. Sun, we went to the mass grave and rescued a friend. Here he is. He's in very bad shape and we need your help to take a look at him."

I pointed behind me to Lao Dao, who was being carried on Luo Tianhe's back.

But Dr. Sun, stroking his chin, looked at me thoughtfully:

"It's not just because of him, is it? You seem off too."

I scratched my head, feeling a little embarrassed for constantly troubling Dr. Sun, but I knew that refusing would only make him angrier.
