"How could there not be?"
Su Mingyang's eyes revealed deep fear.
“After we parted ways yesterday, I went to the hospital to see my mother. As I was walking, I saw a man standing with his back to the wall, barefoot and soaking wet.”
I figured he was drunk, and I blame myself for being curious; I glanced at him as I passed by, and it scared the hell out of me!
As he said this, Su Mingyang shakily took out a cigarette and lit it.
I asked him what happened next.
Su Mingyang took a deep drag of his cigarette, calmed himself down, and continued.
"Old Chen, you don't know, his face was completely swollen, just like a corpse soaking in water. He had no eyes, only two dark holes, and his mouth and nose were full of water plants and mud. It almost scared the crap out of me."
I was filled with doubt.
This isn't right.
We were handling the female corpse together at the time. Why didn't the wedding procession look for Su Mingyang? Instead, they found a drowning ghost instead.
I pressed further, "And then what happened? How did you get away with it?"
Su Mingyang swallowed hard: "I was so scared my legs went weak. I ran for my life, but that bastard kept chasing me. In the end, I don't know how I ended up near the Martyrs' Cemetery. I didn't care about anything else at the time and just rushed in."
Strangely enough, as soon as I entered the martyrs' cemetery, the drowning ghost disappeared. I stayed inside until dawn before going to find Master Jin.
What is that?
I repeated, "You ran to the martyrs' cemetery, and he stopped chasing you?"
Su Mingyang stubbed out his cigarette and said, "That's right. Master Jin said that the yang energy there is strong, and ghosts generally don't dare to approach. I was thinking of going there to hide for the next few days. If that ghost bride really dares to come, I'll have my ancestors fight her!"
I was speechless for a moment.
I should have gone to the martyrs' cemetery instead.
Just then, the shop owner came over with a smile and asked, "Hey, you two young men, you've already decided on these, why aren't you buying them? These are rare finds! First come, first served!"
Su Mingyang glared at him and shouted, "What are you buying? The person isn't dead, why are you buying all this? Keep it for yourself!"
The boss, feeling rebuffed, muttered something under his breath.
We ignored it and quickly left the funeral supplies store.
...
Back at the Rebirth Pavilion, I saw Master Jin talking to a little girl.
Because her back was to me, I couldn't see her face, but judging from her clothes and figure, she looked to be about five or six years old.
When she turned around, I realized she was a dwarf.
Jin pointed at her and introduced her to us: "This is Huang Xiangu, she'll be helping you with the 'spirit exchange' tonight!"
Upon hearing this, Su Mingyang and I quickly composed ourselves and respectfully greeted her in unison, "Huang Xiangu".
They dared not show even the slightest hint of disdain or pity on their faces, striving to maintain a respectful demeanor.
Huang Xiangu was short; her head only reached my lower abdomen.
However, she exuded an indescribable aura, as if an invisible force surrounded her, making her someone not to be underestimated.
Huang Xiangu nodded and took out two white crystal bracelets from a yellow cloth bag, handing them to me and Su Mingyang.
"These are for you. Once you put them on, you can't take them off. After tonight, take them to the Huanggu Temple and burn them."
Huanggu Temple?
Isn't it just a weasel temple?
Is this Yellow Fairy a female disciple?
Isn't it said that even shamans don't cross the Shanhaiguan Pass? How did she end up here?
However, shamanism is from the Northeast, so I don't know much about it. My grandfather didn't talk much about it either. I didn't expect to meet a female shaman today.
Su Mingyang eagerly took the white crystal bracelet and examined it closely.
"What's carved on this? A fox? It's quite beautiful."
These words were like a thunderclap that exploded in the room.
Jin Ye's face instantly turned bright red, and he cursed, "You bastard! What fox? This is the sacred image of Huang Daxian! How dare you desecrate it like this? Do you have a death wish?"
Huang Xiangu was so frightened that her face turned ashen, her legs went weak, and she knelt down with a thud.
He hurriedly picked up three incense sticks, lit them shakily on the small incense burner, placed some fruit on top, and then kept kowtowing while muttering incantations.
“Great Immortal Huang Xian, your disciple is ignorant and has unintentionally offended your majesty. I am filled with fear and trepidation.”
I am deeply aware of my mistake. Today, I have prepared this small gift to pray for your forgiveness, Great Immortal. I hope you will be magnanimous and not hold it against me.
From now on, this disciple will be even more respectful and dare not slacken in the slightest. I hope the Great Immortal will protect me and forgive this disciple's rash act.
Seeing this scene, Su Mingyang instantly realized that he had made a big mistake and hurriedly knelt down as well.
He stammered, "Please forgive me, Master Wong! I was so blind that I didn't recognize this as a statue of the Great Immortal. I had no intention of offending you. Please forgive me this time. I promise to make more offerings to you in the future and sincerely repent."
For a moment, only the sound of Huang Xiangu kowtowing and the rapid breathing of the crowd filled the room, creating an oppressive atmosphere that made it hard to breathe.
Several minutes later, Huang Xiangu slowly raised her head, her eyes fixed on the burning incense in the incense burner.
The smoke from the three incense sticks rose gently and intertwined slowly, without any unusual signs of dissipating.
Huang Xiangu breathed a sigh of relief and gestured for Su Mingyang to stand up.
Her face still bore a trace of lingering fear as she warned in a serious tone, "You little rascal, you're lucky today. The Wong Tai Sage is magnanimous and will let you off this time."
But you must remember this well: in the future, you must be careful in your words and actions, and always keep in mind the reverence for Wong Tai Sin.
