No wonder I couldn't see anyone from the car earlier; he was knocked down and was lying face down under the front of the car.
The old man had a full head of white hair and was wearing a rather fashionable white suit. He should have looked energetic, but at this moment he looked particularly strange.
He lay face down, motionless.
"You really hit someone."
Upon seeing that it was a person, Luo Tianhe was not so nervous.
He's not nervous, but I am. What's the scariest thing about driving?
Elderly people, children, and pregnant women!
Especially the elderly. If you don't bump into them, they'd be eager to lie down. But if you do bump into them, they might try to extort hundreds of thousands of dollars from you.
Before I could answer, the old man actually moved.
Luo Tianhe and I instinctively took a step back.
The old man pushed himself up with his hands and slowly got up, dusting himself off.
Apart from some dust on his clothes, there wasn't a trace of blood.
Upon seeing this, Luo Tianhe exclaimed in a low voice, "How come there's no blood?"
I said it's scary if there's no bleeding; there's probably internal injury. A person hit like that can't possibly be completely unharmed.
"Grandpa? Are you alright?" I asked cautiously as the old man stood up.
"What old man? Call me Brother Chai!"
The old man glared at me, straightened his somewhat messy white hair, and then took out his phone to look at it.
After tidying his hair up perfectly, he nodded in satisfaction and looked at us with annoyance: "Be careful when you get out of the car and drive. Can't you see someone this big walking on the side of the road?"
"Uh... Brother Chai, there was a car on the other side with its high beams on, it was so blinding I couldn't see clearly, I'm really sorry, would you like me to take you to the hospital for a check-up?"
Luo Tianhe, feeling embarrassed, offered him a cigarette as an apology.
"No need, no need, I'm perfectly healthy! Going to the hospital would just make me a laughingstock."
Upon hearing that he was going to the hospital, the old man waved his hand dismissively.
But he still took the cigarette and put it in his mouth: "High beams? That must be that turkey-head kid. That young man has no manners at all, he likes to tinker with these things late at night."
Luo Tianhe and I were completely baffled. How did turning on the high beams become tinkering with these things?
But I still couldn't resist adding, "Brother Chai, why don't we go to the hospital and get it checked out?"
I'm really scared.
This old man looks fine, but he's in his seventies or eighties. After being hit by a car like that, who knows if he'll kick the bucket after just a couple of steps?
"I told you I'm not going to the hospital. There aren't any hospitals around here. I'll just go see Teacher Zeng later. Everyone around here goes to Teacher Zeng when they're sick. I'm not trying to scam you out of money, so why are you so worried?" The old man snorted irritably.
"Teacher Zeng?" I was taken aback.
Luo Tianhe reacted quickly, lighting the fire for the old man and asking rapidly, "Is it Zeng Yonghua, Teacher Zeng?"
I was taken aback again. Shouldn't it be Wu Zhiguo?
But I quickly realized that in everyone's eyes, Wu Zhiguo was dead, and Zeng Yonghua was the one who was alive now.
The old man exclaimed in surprise, glancing at the two of us: "You've also come to seek refuge with Teacher Zeng?"
