Chapter 1470 Extremely Eerie

Seeing Zhou Wenxiu's movements so natural, even revealing a touch of girlish lightness, the four of us stood there dumbfounded, not knowing what to do for a moment.

The situation was extremely bizarre and completely beyond our comprehension.

Luo Tianhe, Li Huai, and Zhang Qiang couldn't help but look at me, wanting me to give an explanation.

I was completely numb.

Seeing that I hadn't said anything for a while, the three of them tacitly turned their gazes elsewhere.

"It seems like she really came back to life."

After a long pause, Li Huai spoke.

"Hmm." I nodded numbly as before.

"Moreover, she mentioned the name Zhang Wei, indicating that she knew who the head she was using came from!"

Luo Tianhe also lowered his voice, speaking in a tone that was just loud enough for the four of us to hear.

“That’s right.” My voice was dry.

"Her memories and understanding likely did not come entirely from Zhou Wenxiu; they may have been mixed with information from Zhang Wei or other victims! In short, she had a clear and profound understanding of everything that happened, one that is beyond our comprehension!"

Zhang Qiang gave a rare long speech, which was the most accurate judgment he could make based on the current situation.

"You're right." I still looked half-dead.

"Can you be like a wooden doll, nodding every time I say a sentence?"

Luo Tianhe couldn't help but nudge me with his elbow.

I looked up at the sky, my face full of confusion.

"You guys aren't from the underworld, you have no idea how illogical this is. You have no idea how damn bizarre this is, it's completely rubbing salt in the wound with everything I've learned before!"

The three of them were taken aback by my sudden outburst of excitement and profanity.

I took a deep breath and tried to organize my thoughts, attempting to explain the irrationality of Zhou Wenxiu's actions in a way they could understand.

"We cobblers are responsible for mending bodies, tidying up the deceased, and sending them off on their final journey."

Luo Tianhe, Li Huai, and Zhang Qiang nodded, wondering why I suddenly brought this up.

I swallowed hard and continued:

"According to the rules and wisdom passed down from our ancestors, a dead person is a dead person. Once the soul leaves the body and the three fires are extinguished, the physical body is just a stinking carcass! At most, some people with deep obsessions may retain some resentment and vengeful spirits, but those are like rootless duckweed. Even if they become vengeful ghosts, they will eventually dissipate!"

As I spoke, I pointed in the direction of the crevice where Zhou Wenxiu had disappeared, my fingers trembling slightly:

"But look at this, what is she?"

"First, the body is not decomposed. Zhang Wei has been dead for several days. Even if she were in a freezer, her muscles should have stiffened and her blood should have long since congealed. Her skin would also develop lividity, dehydrate, and decompose!"

"But just now, look at her. Her mind works even faster than Li Huai's. Apart from being a little pale, her complexion is no different from a normal person's. This is something that preservation treatment can't achieve!"

“My grandfather said that only by using extremely insidious evil methods, combined with the yin energy and earth veins at a specific time, can a corpse be temporarily prevented from decaying. But that only prevents it from decaying; it is absolutely impossible for it to come back to life, let alone something like her!”

"The most outrageous thing is that Zhang Wei's head was the most viable one!"

"Her left hand is from more than 20 years ago. She dressed herself more quickly than I did. If a normal person's hand were left like that for that long, it would have turned into bone fragments long ago!"

I spoke faster and faster, and the veins on my forehead were practically bulging out.

"Secondly, the limbs were pieced together, a mixture of yin and yang. The old man used limbs from dead people of different years, different genders, and possibly even those whose birth charts clashed with each other!"

"The left hand came from a male temporary worker more than 20 years ago, the leg from a migrant worker, and the hand from a retired woman... These things were born and died at different times, their yin and yang attributes clashed, and they also carried the resentment of their original owners. After all, they all died violent deaths, so I don't believe they had no resentment at all!"

"Just like Zhang Wei, who was dead for several days, they were still able to find me. Even if they can't become vengeful ghosts, they are definitely not harmless creatures!"

"In our trade of cobblers, there is a special term called 'mixed energy,' which is the most filthy and unstable thing. Let alone piecing them together into a person, even if you put them in a coffin, they may clash with each other, causing the corpse to turn into a zombie or something even more sinister."

"Besides, even if you don't understand these things, you should have all studied biology and know about blood types. It can't be such a coincidence that they all have the same blood type. I don't believe that Zhou Fuquan, an old man with one foot in the grave, could understand those things!"

Upon hearing this, Li Huai, Luo Tianhe, and Zhang Qiang exchanged glances, all understanding why I had reacted so strongly.

They had previously felt that they had seen many strange things, so this, although even stranger, was still acceptable.

Little did I know, all the strange occurrences I had witnessed before were actually traceable!

What's happening right now is truly bizarre!

It cannot be explained by science, nor by metaphysics.

But that wasn't all. I took a breath and continued:

"Thirdly, and the biggest joke, they actually managed to bring the soul back to life! Do you even know what summoning a soul is? It's dealing with the underworld, questioning and guiding the lingering soul to let go of its obsessions and send it to the afterlife!"

"Even if there really is a heaven-defying evil technique, to forcibly keep a soul in the mortal world, the soul must be intact and willing, and it is best to have a suitable, original physical vessel that matches its birth chart!"

I used a string of adjectives to let them know how much it costs to keep a soul in the mortal world; it's almost impossible.

“Zhou Wenxiu has been dead for over thirty years. To put it bluntly, she has been dead longer than we have lived! Her soul has long since either been reincarnated or scattered. You think you can just use a bunch of random dead body parts, plus someone else’s head, to summon a soul from decades ago and stuff it in?”

I took another breath, swallowed hard, and gave a bitter, almost absurd smile.

"It's like you want to build a sports car, but you find a tractor engine, motorcycle wheels, bicycle handlebars, and a rusty car shell from a junkyard. Then you chant a few spells over this pile of junk and expect it to turn into a self-driving sports car. Do you think that's possible?"

The three of them shook their heads in unison.

Li Huai, who was just about to say that he wasn't actually just a bunch of dead people's parts pieced together randomly, has now lost his temper.

Because he felt that what I said made sense.

Although their birth dates and times do have some connection, that slight connection is far too weak compared to the points I have listed.

It's fair to say that it's not very convincing.
