Chapter 1561 We've Found You

My mind was racing with thoughts, but I knew that if I stayed there any longer, it would definitely end badly!

"Run! Go to another room!"

I yelled.

This is, after all, a wealthy person's apartment, and it's quite large, with at least four or five rooms. I quietly found a room whose door wasn't closed.

Luo Tianhe rushed over right after me. Although Li Huai's legs were as weak as noodles, he managed to crawl over using both hands and feet.

The three of us rushed into the room, reaching back to lock the door, only to find that the lock was broken, leaving it ajar with an unsettling gap.

The room seemed to be an unused guest room, with very little furniture, except for a double bed placed against the wall.

The bed was piled with some bedding, but otherwise empty.

What puzzled us was that the room had no windows, or rather, the windows were sealed off, and the air was stuffy and stagnant, with a mixture of dust and musty smells.

"Quick, under the bed!"

With a sob in his voice, Li Huai crawled under the dusty wooden bed, using both hands and feet.

"I've heard from old people that ghosts have straight knees and can't bend them, so they can't see under the bed!"

This widely circulated folk belief has become our only lifeline at this moment!

Luo Tianhe and I couldn't care less about anything else, so we squeezed under the narrow, low bed after him!

The space here is very small, and it felt incredibly cramped with the three of us big men squeezed in.

The tattered, drooping bed sheet became a barrier in front of us, barely blocking our view, yet it made me feel somewhat uneasy.

Since we can't see outside, it means we won't know what's happening outside.

"Brother Yan, let's hide here. We should be fine by dawn."

Li Huai's voice trembled as he spoke in a low voice.

Shh, don't make a sound!

I held up my index finger to signal them to stop talking. There was a strange noise coming from outside, so I pricked up my ears to try and hear what it was.

The living room lights were still flickering wildly, their brightness fluctuating.

Suddenly, a shadow blocked the light coming in from outside, and my heart stopped.

They're here!

"Thump...thump..."

It was a very strange sound, muffled and with long intervals, like something hitting the floor heavily, or like dribbling a ball.

The sounds grew closer and the intervals shortened, as they entered the room from the doorway. A chill ran down my spine. They didn't seem to be walking, nor were they moving forward in flashes like before. What was going on with them?

It looks like it's hitting the ground—a hand? A foot?

still.....

Suddenly it dawned on me: they jumped to their deaths!

Zhang Qiang didn't explain how they died at the time, but I suddenly remembered that this was only the third floor. With a typical jumping posture, it was impossible for the whole family to die so quickly and cleanly!

So they must have all jumped headfirst to their deaths!

The thumping sound now makes me feel cold all over, and I realize that I have made a stupid decision.

"They...they used their heads!"

Li Huai also realized this and was so frightened that he almost fainted. He covered his mouth tightly, and cold sweat poured uncontrollably down his forehead. Luo Tianhe's face was ashen, and he was breathing heavily.

Some people say that ghosts can't bend over and can't see God, but they're standing upside down right now, so they don't need to bend over at all; they can see us directly under the bed!

The next moment, I felt three cold, malicious gazes wrapping around us like a spider web!

Immediately afterwards, an upside-down, bluish-gray, swollen face covered in blood was suddenly pressed against the outside of the bed sheet!

It's Su's father!

My scalp tingled, and my heart felt like it was going to jump out of my chest.

He was upside down, head down, with a horrifying dent in his skull, from which brain matter mixed with blood was oozing out.

At this moment, his pale pupils were cloudy and lifeless, yet they were fixed firmly on my position!

His lips parted into a strange smile, and his dark purple tongue trembled slightly.

"I've found you."

The sound seemed to be squeezed out of his throat, sounding strange and muffled because he was upside down.

"Hehe, what are you doing hiding here? Are you playing hide-and-seek with us?"

Su Xiaoxiao's upside-down face also appeared outside the bed sheet. Her face still retained some of the contours of a young girl, but her skin was bluish-purple, her eyes were bulging, and her mouth was stretched to her ears.

Su's mother's upside-down face pressed against us. Her cheeks were severely sunken, her whole face was flat, her chin was crooked, and she stared at us with resentment.

"You promised to help us, so why are you hiding here!"

A pale, swollen hand with sharp nails reached in; the hand was broken and its posture was extremely awkward.

"Get out of my way!"

Luo Tianhe roared and swung his baton, smashing it hard against the ghostly hand that had reached in.

With a muffled "snap," the ghost hand stopped moving and then withdrew, but the resentment on Su's mother's face intensified.

I gritted my teeth and shouted, "Luo Tianhe, let's work together and flip the bed over, run outside, and find a way out!"

Luo Tianhe nodded, and together with me, we lifted the bed board off the ground, slamming it hard onto the three people who were standing upside down.

I dragged Li Huai out of the room; the three ghosts were behaving very strangely.

I frantically searched my mind for a way to deal with it. These vengeful ghosts, formed from deaths in a particularly gruesome manner, are focused on the pain of falling and having their skulls shattered!

Their obsession runs deep, and ordinary exorcism methods would likely be far less effective.

Moreover, when an entire family dies tragically together, the effect is not additive, but multiplicative.

The way they are walking upside down now is a terrifying manifestation of their death and their lingering obsessions after death!

We must find a way to disturb them, or let them know that we are dead and have gone where we belong!

In a flash, I caught a glimpse of Su Xiaoxiao's white sneaker hanging above her; the strap had come loose and was swaying with her movements.

Suddenly, an extremely risky thought, one that might even anger them, flashed through their mind.

"Come on, let's go to the living room!"

I shouted, and Luo Tianhe and Li Huai followed me as we ran all the way to the living room.

Soon, the three ghosts appeared at the living room doorway, still in their upside-down positions.

Luo Tianhe and Li Huai thought I still wanted to go out through the security door, so they started turning the doorknob and kicking the door again, but it still didn't work.

"Stop messing with that door, it's useless. Luo Tianhe, come and lend a hand, lift the mirror up!"

I shouted at Luo Tianhe and took the mirror from the wall in the living room.

Luo Tianhe was a little puzzled, but he did as I said, lifting the mirror flat with the mirror facing down.

"Look up, something has fallen from the ceiling!"

I used all my strength to pretend to be panicked, and shouted while pointing to the top of their heads, which was in the direction of their feet.
