Chapter 375 Finding Old Knife

I stared intently at the ant.

He took a deep drag on his cigarette, remaining silent, trying to glean something from the ant's eyes.

Although the ants' speech is trembling, their eyes don't waver, so what they're saying is probably true.

I exhaled a smoke ring, and recalling everything that had happened before, my heart skipped a beat.

Could it be that Wu Zhiguo has extended his reach here?

And what about the Fox Village incident? Could it really be as I suspect, that someone didn't want me to continue investigating, which is why it was hastily ended?

That's just my stubborn nature; the more he tries to stop me from investigating, the more determined I am to investigate!

"Brother Chen! I promise I'm telling the truth! Old Dao said it all!" Seeing that I didn't answer, Ant was so frightened that he staggered, dropped the lamb leg, and with tears and snot streaming down his face, he quickly grabbed my arm and promised.

I snapped out of my daze, gave the ant a disgusted look, and told him to wipe his snot so he wouldn't smear it on me.

The ant awkwardly took out a tissue, quickly wiped itself, and then wiped my arm, showing a fawning expression.

"Brother Chen, shall we leave now?"

After what just happened, the ant was noticeably more obedient, but it still lingered on the lamb leg it had just eaten.

I rolled my eyes: "Fine, let's finish eating first!"

Seeing Lao Dao isn't in such a hurry; let's eat first.

And I've been thinking a lot about the relationship between Lao Dao and Wu Zhiguo.

After the ants finished eating, I followed them all the way to Old Knife's place.

Old Dao is currently in the unfinished building in the west of the city. This area was originally a development zone, but for some reason the developer ran away, leaving this mess behind.

I stood in front of the unfinished building, and couldn't help but frown as I looked at it all. A strange smell wafted towards me.

That old knife guy is really pitiful, forced to live in this wretched place.

Perhaps sensing my inner thoughts, Ant quickly offered a flattering explanation: "There's nothing I can do, Brother Chen. This is what Lao Dao said before. He said there are always eyes watching."

He could only be this careful.

I gave a soft "hmm" without replying, and gestured with my lips to indicate that he should lead the way.

The ant seemed to know the way well, leading me to the elevator on the 3rd floor. After rummaging around, it found a ventilation duct next to the elevator shaft.

We went into the ventilation duct, turned left and walked about seven steps, and actually found an opening.

It's more like a dog hole than an opening.

I frowned. There are quite a few unfinished buildings, so why did Lao Dao choose this particular spot?

Hengda has already collapsed, and Xu Yishi has fled. There are plenty of suitable places to go.

The ants, worried I might overthink things, quickly pulled me inside. After I knocked, the entrance opened.

The ants went in first, and I followed.

I saw Lao Dao as soon as I got up.

"Ant, didn't I tell you not to bring just anyone here? Did you take my words for granted?"

As soon as Lao Dao saw the ant, he reacted as if his hair had been pricked up, grabbing the ant by the collar.

Old Dao now has a scraggly beard and smells terrible; he looks like he hasn't showered for days.

I glanced at Lao Dao, but I didn't look down on him. All I wanted to do was get some useful information out of him.

"This is Brother Chen, Brother Luo's good brother," Ant quickly explained.

Upon hearing the name "Brother Luo," Lao Dao's expression changed.

This is Luo Tianhe's reputation; even though he's no longer here, his influence remains.

Old Dao stared intently at my face for a long while before finally nodding.

"It does look familiar, it really does seem to be Brother Chen!"

Although my appearance is somewhat different now than before, you can still vaguely tell the difference.

"Old Dao, to make a long story short, I've called you here to ask you something! You should know about Fox Village, right?"

I'm very short-tempered right now, and I don't have much time to chat with Lao Dao.

I desperately need to get the information I want from Lao Dao.

I had previously guessed that the root of everything might lie in the origin of this fox village.

At first, Lao Dao's expression remained calm, but when he heard the words "Fox Village," his pupils visibly dilated, as if he had seen a ghost.

But he quickly covered it up.

"I haven't heard of that before, Brother Chen. Are there any other questions? I'll answer them to the best of my ability!"

Old Dao put on a good act, appearing to be very cooperative.

But I had already anticipated his action.

Well, it's just like an ant, circling around me here.

"Fuck your mother! I'm in a real hurry, are you going to talk or not?" I kicked him, but Old Dao's body couldn't take it.

I've long lost the patience I had before, and I've also gained experience in interrogating ants.

Old Knife and Ant are cut from the same cloth. If we don't teach them a lesson, they'll probably stay stuck in this muddy mess for half a day.

After being kicked to the ground, Lao Dao was stunned for a moment. He really didn't expect me to be so uncivilized.

His mouth moved, like an ant, and who knows what kind of nonsense he was spouting.

Without saying a word, I gave him a good beating.

Although I look like this now, my physical fitness is much better than Lao Dao's. Lao Dao is no match for me.

Old Knife's wailing echoed from inside the room, while Ant trembled beside him, having just witnessed the same scene.

He just didn't expect me to be so ruthless. He was probably a little relieved, because if he hadn't told the truth, things would probably have turned out the same way.

Sure enough, he deserved to be taught a lesson. I beat Old Knife half to death. His face was covered in blood, and I knocked out two of his teeth.

"I'll talk, I'll talk! Brother Chen! Stop hitting me, I know Fox Village!"

I only stopped after Lao Dao struggled and said those words.

"Why didn't you behave like this earlier?" I stopped what I was doing, moved my foot away from Lao Dao's face, and found a place to sit down.

My intuition tells me that this time I should have some success.

Old Dao struggled to sit up, wiped the blood from his mouth, glanced at me, trembling, before stammering, "Brother Chen, it's like this! Fox Village was originally a very normal village, not Fox Village at all, it became like this later!"

I nodded slightly; that was pretty much what I had in mind.

I gave him a look, signaling him to continue.

"All I know is that the people in the village left one after another, but after they left, a strange thing happened!" Old Dao spoke with great intonation, which, combined with the dark environment, startled Ant.

"Strange thing? Don't scare me, brother, I'm a scaredy-cat!" the ant trembled.

"They're all dead, right?" I asked.
