Chapter 396 The Landlady's Problem

I never imagined this thing could actually eat on its own; I could even feel its heartbeat on the eagle owl tattoo.

This eagle owl tattoo is alive, a truly living creature.

I have mixed feelings right now, and I don't know whether it's a blessing or a curse.

After feeding the eagle owls, I tasted it myself, and I must say, it tasted quite good.

"It tastes great, Lao Dao, won't you try some?"

I began to eat heartily. Since the eagle owl tattoo didn't have any other unusual reactions and seemed to enjoy the food, I naturally didn't need to be on guard.

I'm now one with the Eagle Owl Tattoo. If it were truly poisonous, I probably would have kicked the bucket after the Eagle Owl Tattoo ate it.

"Brother Chen, aren't you afraid something might happen?"

Old Dao was still a little hesitant; he had already come to believe there was something wrong with this place.

"What's up? Eat up, it smells delicious!"

I devoured the food and once again called Old Knife over.

Old Dao simply ate a couple of bites with me before putting down his chopsticks.

"Brother Chen, the taste is indeed good, but I'm not in the mood to eat it now. I'm scared!"

Old Dao is really scared now. If I hadn't kept urging him to eat, he probably wouldn't have wanted to eat a single piece.

If Old Dao doesn't eat it, the rest is all mine.

"Alright then, you can just stay here and keep an eye on things."

I have no objection, so I'll eat and you can go hungry.

After I finished eating, I fed Old Knife's portion to the Owl Tattoo. This thing had a bigger appetite than I expected; it finished Old Knife's portion in just a few bites.

Even after finishing the meal, I still wanted more.

Old Dao looked at the chicken bones on the table, swallowed hard, and his stomach rumbled.

Dao Ge stood up, pulled the chair closer, and whispered in my ear, "Brother Chen, do you think this proprietress is really a chicken essence?"

I shook my head: "I'm not sure either, but at least this store is a bit strange."

As for these flowers, we can go and take a look.

After I finished speaking, I felt like something was off. Although Hua Hua looked pitiful, my intuition told me that this girl was not as simple as she seemed.

"Hmm, I also think this flower is nice, and the proprietress is nice too. Brother Chen, do you think there might be some misunderstanding?"

"I forgot to tell you, when the landlady was talking to you earlier, she was very interested in your legs, just like you are when you see a free-range chicken."

I simply told him that the landlady was interested in Lao Dao, and upon learning the truth, Lao Dao said he was determined to leave this awful place no matter what.

"Brother Chen, how about this, I'll go out and check it out for you first. In case we encounter any danger and want to leave, we need to know the situation here, right?"

I agreed with Lao Dao's idea and told him I could go with him.

"That's great, Brother Chen! I knew you wouldn't abandon me!"

"Hey, Lao Dao, get the hell away from me! If you get any closer, I'll slash you!"

...

After tidying up for a while, Lao Dao and I carefully opened the door and began to walk around the area to observe the terrain.

This guesthouse doesn't look very big from the outside, but once you step inside, the feeling is completely different.

There are at least twenty rooms of various sizes inside.

The room is used very efficiently.

Unfortunately, all the other rooms were locked except for ours.

In other words, we are the only ones living here.

Approaching these rooms, one can feel a sense of gloom.

We walked along the corridor until we reached the end.

"Brother Chen, listen, can you hear a sound inside?"

Old Dao suddenly pointed to a locked room next to him.

I went to the doorway and pressed my ear against it.

Sure enough, some noises could be heard inside.

"Is anyone there?" Old Dao asked softly into the room.

There were sounds of chairs clattering inside, along with whimpering noises, like someone struggling with their mouth gagged.

"Damn it, Brother Chen, this is a total rip-off! It seems they're not just empty-handed, they're probably locked up inside!"

Old Dao was numb. He was already very scared, and now this had happened.

I ignored Lao Dao. My experiences over this period have enabled me to think and judge things calmly.

Our purpose this time is to find Xu Feng and Zhou the tailor. As for who is imprisoned here, that's none of my business.

Unless they are close friends like Lao Luo, I generally don't bother with ordinary people.

"Let's go back!" I grabbed Lao Dao, preparing to take him back first; this was not a place to stay for long.

Old Dao followed me around like a puppy, when suddenly, the plump proprietress appeared behind us.

The plump proprietress was still wearing red, but unlike her initial enthusiasm, she had become icy cold.

"Why are you two here instead of resting in your rooms?" The plump landlady's tone changed from gentle to cold and stern.

It sounded like they were blaming us.

"Well, the rooster was really good today. We've finished eating, now we're going to take a walk!" I chuckled.

I remained very calm, after all, I did not feel fear.

"Yes, if you want to go to Haopo Village, you must go after 11 o'clock. Before that, you'd better stay in your rooms and don't go anywhere!"

The proprietress's expression softened a little, but she was still somewhat frightening.

The landlady wouldn't let me and Lao Dao wander around.

Seeing that Lao Dao and I hesitated, the landlady continued, "You've been targeted by something evil. If you want to go to Haopo Village, then stay put! We've only just met, and I have no reason to harm you!"
