Chapter 1255 They really did track us down to our home!

Luo Tianhe also realized that something was wrong, and he nodded silently.

"This car needs to be dealt with."

Li Huai's lips twitched. There was still a piece of something that looked like intestines or something else wrapped around the windshield wiper, fluttering like a ribbon as the wiper moved.

"What's the point of dealing with it? Just push it into the river, it's bad luck!"

With that, Luo Tianhe turned and headed towards the rarely visited moat.

I'm in a bit of a dilemma:

"If we push this car into the river, how will we get back?"

"I'd rather walk than drive this piece of junk."

Luo Tianhe looked at the van, which was covered in filth and reeked of stench, and said with a livid face.

I glanced at my phone; it was only a little past nine at night. I should be able to call a car through a ride-hailing app, so I nodded and agreed.

Soon, we pushed the van into the river, then walked around and hailed a taxi to Luo Tianhe's home.

Luo Tianhe is rich; he lives in a detached house with a yard.

He walked into the room and flopped onto the sofa. I patted him on the shoulder.

"Don't relax yet, go and bring over all the talismans you have here."

As someone who frequently encounters ghosts, Luo Tianhe naturally prepared a lot of yellow talismans, red ropes, and five-emperor coins at home.

Before long, Luo Tianhe, covered in sweat, had moved all the things over.

I carefully selected and discarded the deceptive items, keeping only the useful ones.

After picking and choosing, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Luo Tianhe had actually prepared Soul-Suppressing Incense at home!

"Chen Yan, they wouldn't go so far as to track me to my house, would they?"

Luo Tianhe scratched his head, looking at me with a puzzled expression, as if I were facing a formidable enemy.

I shook my head.

"That's not necessarily true. I saw Uncle Ma's figure when I was waiting at the traffic light at the intersection leading into the city. Although it disappeared in a flash, I couldn't have been mistaken!"

"Besides, that bastard Bai Linfeng, in his fabricated story, those things did come to the city. Although he lied to us, it wasn't all a lie!"

Li Huai swallowed hard, a hint of fear flashing in his eyes. He thought that escaping that strange village would be the end of it, but he didn't expect that these things could still track him down!

After arranging everything, I felt physically and mentally exhausted, but I dared not sleep. Instead, I forced myself to keep my eyelids open and remained vigilant.

Seeing my state, Li Huai and Luo Tianhe naturally didn't dare to mention sleeping.

In a daze, I suddenly heard a bell ringing.

I looked up and saw that it was the wall clock in the living room that was chiming.

It's twelve o'clock.

Something's not right!

I suddenly woke up and sat up abruptly.

"Li Huai, Luo Tianhe, do you think it's a little too quiet?"

I squeezed out those words through gritted teeth.

Luo Tianhe and Li Huai listened carefully and found that apart from the clanging of the bell, they could not hear any other sound!

This is the city center, after all. Even though the house is well soundproofed, it's not completely silent—no cars speeding by, no cicadas chirping, no birdsong...

"Light the incense!"

I let out a low growl, and Luo Tianhe and Li Huai each lit the incense sticks I had placed in the four corners of the living room. As the smoke curled up, I also let out a long sigh of relief.

"Brother Yan, look outside..."

Li Huai's voice trembled as he pointed to the window.

On the cement ground of the yard, footprints covered in rotten flesh and pus appeared out of nowhere.

Luo Tianhe's face was deathly pale, and he leaned against the door.

"Damn it, is my yard even worth keeping?"

"At a time like this, you're still thinking about the yard; you're lucky to even survive!"

I slapped Luo Tianhe across the face and took out a yellow talisman and cinnabar thread from my cloth bag.

At this time, the entire room was covered with yellow talismans, and special attention was paid to the doors and windows.

"Now, let's not say I'm making a mountain out of a molehill."

Seeing that the yellow talisman was emitting a faint light, I glanced at Luo Tianhe and Li Huai.

The two nodded quickly.

"I'm not going to say anything more, they can't get in, right?"

Li Huai asked nervously, clutching the copper coins on his body tightly in his hand.

"Logically, they shouldn't be able to get in." I stared at the doorway, "but given the situation, I can't say for sure."

"What you said is as good as nothing at all."

Luo Tianhe rolled his eyes, got up and turned to look at the cat's eye. He was so frightened that he trembled and ran behind me, yelling "Holy crap!" repeatedly.

"What's wrong? Why are you so scared?"

Before I could finish speaking, there was a knock on the door.

At the same time, the yellow talisman on the door burst into flames and quickly turned to ashes.

"Thump! Thump! Thump! Thump!"

The knocking grew more urgent and heavier.

The three of us looked at each other, but none of us moved.

"Young man, open the door!"

Uncle Ma's voice came from outside, gentle yet chilling.

"It's cold in the mountains, let the old man go inside and warm up."

Damn it, this is outrageous!

I gritted my teeth and yelled at the door, "Get lost! Go jump off that cliff, I'm not playing along! If you keep haunting me, believe me, I'll have you exorcised!"

The knocking stopped abruptly.

Luo Tianhe looked at me with admiration.

I've told him more than once that if a ghost is fierce, you have to be even fiercer than it!

But the calm lasted for less than ten seconds!

Immediately afterwards, the entire door began to shake violently, as if countless hands were pounding on it at the same time.

Luo Tianhe's smile froze on his face, and he stammered:

"This is the most advanced security door I have; they shouldn't be able to open it."

As the door groaned under the weight, I knew I couldn't stand idly by any longer.

I took out a yellow talisman and stuck it on the door. The vibration immediately decreased, but soon, as the talisman burned out, it returned to normal.

Luo Tianhe looked at me expectantly.

"Chen Yan, why don't you burn one and stick it up one at a time? If you can keep it up until dawn, there won't be any problems!"

I rolled my eyes at him.

"Do you think I'm Doraemon? We don't have many yellow talismans left. You two, hold the door shut!"

Upon hearing this, Li Huai and Luo Tianhe rushed forward and used their shoulders to firmly block the door.

I pulled out a handful of powder mixed with cinnabar and iron filings from my backpack and quickly scattered it on the ground at the doorway to create a simple warding-off-evil array. Fearing that the effect wouldn't be enough, I bit my tongue and spat out a mouthful of blood.

Once the last stroke was completed, the vibration of the door panel stopped abruptly.

"It works!" Li Huai was overjoyed, slumped against the security door, panting heavily.

But I knew in my heart that this was only a temporary measure, and a simple warding-off-evil formation could not make us feel at ease.

I looked out through the peephole and saw that the zombies had already revealed their true forms. I knew without a doubt that Luo Tianhe's door was no longer safe.

As I watched, bewildered and confused, the zombies gradually disappeared.

They've left?

Just then, the sound of "bang, bang, bang"—it sounded like basketballs being played—came from upstairs.

I looked up abruptly. Luo Tianhe's house is a detached building, where did this upstairs come from?!
