After doing all that, I sat down calmly and took out a cigarette from my bag to smoke.
I'm reflecting on what happened today.
Based on what Zhou the tailor just said, we can infer that the old lady probably knew about this.
I took out the amulet, which had turned gray as if it had been struck by lightning.
This thing is what saved me from that woman's fatal blow.
If this thing hadn't protected my consciousness, I might have been successfully possessed.
"But if my consciousness is so weak against external intrusion, why doesn't the eagle owl attack first?"
I couldn't help but ask myself a question.
As that woman just said, I lack the Earth Soul, so I have no way to resist this aspect.
Perhaps the eagle owl is unwilling right now?
My hair stood on end, and I felt a wave of fear wash over me!
Right now, the other party doesn't want to, but they still have the ability. If one day this guy really wants to attack my consciousness, I really won't be able to do anything about it.
"Looks like we need to find a way to get rid of this thing..."
I muttered to myself.
"Brother Chen, Brother Chen, are you alright?"
Just as I was in a daze, someone tapped me on the back. I turned around and saw it was Lao Dao.
Old Dao rushed in in a hurry.
"Holy crap, that old guy is dead?"
Old Dao was also shocked to see Zhou the tailor's corpse.
He never expected that I would actually kill Zhou the tailor.
"This guy practices evil magic and was about to possess me just now, but thankfully this thing protected my will!"
I stood up and handed the amulet in my hand to Lao Dao.
Old Dao spat on Zhou the tailor's corpse.
"Damn it! He's actually trying to possess you!"
Old Dao's eyes were red-rimmed; it seemed he was truly standing up for me.
Suddenly, Lao Dao stared into my eyes.
"Brother Chen, you're cursing me!"
Old Dao uttered these words.
I was amused by Lao Dao's ridiculous appearance.
If I hadn't spent enough time with him and gone through enough together, I would have really thought this guy had some kind of special hobby.
I told you to go to hell, you really seem to have a serious illness!
Old Dao was satisfied after hearing this.
"Yes, yes, that's the taste! Brother Chen, I was just confirming because I was worried you'd been possessed by that old guy!"
Old Dao chuckled.
I rolled my eyes at Lao Dao, ignored him, and pulled him along to continue deeper into the area.
There should have been two pictures at the time.
The first picture is now in our hands. Although the scene in the painting has been completely destroyed, I still feel that the painting still has a purpose.
As for the second picture, it's at the very back. I want to get both of them.
And so, Lao Dao and I went into the deepest part, except that there was a big hole where the picture was hanging.
The picture is missing.
What should we do?
Seeing this, Lao Dao was at a loss and looked at me.
I was just about to take Lao Dao back the way we came when the entire passage was blocked.
"We're doomed!"
I was a little desperate, and looking at the situation, I cursed angrily.
Unexpectedly, the entrance to the cave had collapsed when we came in.
"What should I do, Brother Chen? Should I test my blood?"
The entrance to the cave was blocked, and Lao Dao was terrified, looking at me helplessly.
He still places all his hopes on his own blood.
"Your blood only works on evil spirits. You can use this stone to blast it open!"
I retorted in an annoyed tone.
Old Dao's brain can be really stupid sometimes.
Evil spirits can be suppressed with blood, but this stone can't be blown up, can it?
Old Dao awkwardly scratched his head, looking a little embarrassed.
He also felt that the method he had just used was a bit ugly.
"Little brother, what are you standing there for? I've opened a hole for you, hurry up and go in!"
Suddenly, a familiar woman's voice came from beside my ear; it was the fat woman.
"Sister, is that you, sister!"
I felt like I'd grabbed a lifeline; the road was completely blocked, and then I heard that fat woman's voice.
"You two close your eyes and just rush towards this hole with all your might!"
The fat woman's voice continued to come out.
I looked around, but there was no sign of the fat woman at all.
I don't know where she is, or if she really appeared or if it was a hallucination.
"Brother Chen, it's not a hallucination, I think I heard Sister's voice too!"
Old Dao reacted; judging from his expression, it seemed he had heard it too.
"Go! Close your eyes, charge!"
Hesitation means defeat. Now there's no turning back. I grabbed Old Knife and charged straight into the newly opened hole.
...
When we opened our eyes again, we found ourselves in an open space.
The cave dwelling disappeared.
"I've told you so many times, but you never listen. Every time you do, you cause me a lot of trouble!"
The fat woman appeared before me, and this time, blood was streaming down her face.
It's on both sides of the face.
He spoke weakly and listlessly, clearly indicating that he was seriously injured.
"Sis, what are you doing here?"
I stood up, walked up to the fat woman, took her arm, and whispered to her.
"Hmph, if we hadn't come, you two would be dead. If it weren't for the Eagle Owl, we wouldn't have risked our lives to save you!"
