Chapter 89 Ghosts Fear Evil People

I always thought that rich people's homes were brightly lit and filled with singing and dancing at night.

It was only a little past 11 p.m., but there were hardly any lights on in the buildings.

We crouched not far from Villa No. 3, waiting for Zeng, the richest man, to come out.

Around midnight, Zeng, the richest man in China, drove out.

After waiting for another ten minutes or so, and making sure that the richest man Zeng had driven away, we slowly walked toward Villa No. 3.

The black cat I saw during the day was still lying next to the car wheel.

Hearing our footsteps, it weakly raised its head and stared at us with its two dark green eyes.

I noticed that a patch of fur on its neck was missing, and I don't know if it was scratched off by something dirty.

Jin said the dirty thing riding on the black cat was gone, but just in case, they needed to 'open a path'.

As he spoke, he took out a small bowl of raw rice, two candles, three sticks of incense, a small bottle of white wine, and half a pig's head from his cloth bag.

Grandpa Jin grabbed a handful of rice and slowly scattered it around, muttering, "Passing by this auspicious place, I have disturbed you all. I hope all the immortals and gods and spirits from all directions will not take offense. Here are some small dishes and wine, which are just a token of my respect. I hope you will accept them with a smile."

Luo Tianhe leaned close to my ear and whispered, "What's Jin Ye up to?"

I explained that I was asking for directions, just like when you pay respects to someone on the road. You need to greet the 'host' here first to avoid causing unnecessary trouble.

After Jin finished reading, he picked up three glasses of white wine that had already been poured and poured them on the ground.

Then he lit three incense sticks and stuck them into the half of the pig's head.

"Xiao Chen, I'm going to pray over there again. Keep an eye on the incense for me and let me know how it's burned later."

But before they could take more than a few steps, an unexpected event occurred.

The incense stick stuck in the pig's head snapped off at the base without warning.

"Master Jin... the incense has broken!" I quickly called out to him.

Jin Ye turned around and looked at him, his brows furrowing into a deep frown.

After a brief silence, Master Jin relit the three incense sticks and carefully placed them back in the incense.

He knelt on both knees and kept chanting, "Heaven and earth and gods above, we have come here today only to do some important business. We have no intention of offending you. If there is anything offensive, please forgive us. If you are upset, please do us a favor."

After he finished reading, he turned to me and Luo Tianhe and waved: "You two kneel down and pray together."

But as soon as I knelt down, the three incense sticks snapped again with a "crack".

This time the break was even more bizarre; it snapped cleanly in the middle, with the two pieces of incense falling to the ground, still emitting wisps of smoke.

Seeing this, Master Jin sighed and picked up the broken incense sticks one by one, shaking his head repeatedly.

"People are most afraid of three long and two short, and incense is most afraid of two short and one long. This incense has broken just like this!"

Luo Tianhe was sweating nervously: "Brother Jin, what's going on? Is the liquor you brought not high enough? Should I have someone send over two bottles of Wuliangye?"

As if he hadn't heard me, Jin took out three more incense sticks and handed them to me: "Go and stick them in!"

This time I was careful and inserted almost the entire incense stick's handle deep into the pig's head, thinking I'd see how it would break this time.

The incense didn't burn out this time.

But as soon as it was inserted, a chilling aura rushed over, and the flames went out in a flash.

It was as if an unseen person was squatting beside me, gently blowing a breath onto the incense.

What's going on?

My mind went blank, and for a moment I didn't know what to say. I could only stare wide-eyed at the few extinguished incense sticks.

"You like to play games, huh? I'll send someone even tougher to play with you!"

As he spoke, Master Jin handed the incense to Luo Tianhe.

Just as Luo Tianhe was about to light it, Master Jin raised his hand and pressed down on his wrist: "Swear at it!"

"Insult...insult it?" Luo Tianhe pointed at his nose in disbelief, thinking he had misheard.

"Yes, keep cursing!"

Jin Ye's expression didn't look like he was joking.

Luo Tianhe looked at me, then at Master Jin, and kept swallowing.

"What are you standing there for? Show your big brother aura! Talk to them the way you usually talk to your enemies. Don't be afraid of them. They'll be even more afraid of you because of your murderous aura!"

Luo Tianhe took a deep breath, pulled a Mitsubishi military dagger from his lower back and slammed it on the ground, his eyes instantly turning sinister and fierce.

"Listen up! I don't care who you are, or whether you left this year or last year. I've already offered you good wine and meat, so don't push your luck!"

"Don't you even bother to find out what I do for a living?"

"I'm only saying this one last time, so listen carefully!"

"If this incense goes out again, I'll dig your bones out and boil them into soup, and I'll find all your relatives in the mortal world and let them taste what it's like to wish for death but not to live! If you know what's good for you, get out of here right now!"

After saying that, he lit the incense and stuck it hard into the pig's head.

Strangely enough, the incense never went out.

The smoke rose in wisps, and the incense burned much faster.

This means something unclean is absorbing the incense.

However, the incense burned as quickly as a gentle breeze, only a tiny bit faster than usual, which made people want to laugh.

I want to inhale, but I don't dare to inhale too deeply!

She only dared to sip slowly, taking small sips, afraid of upsetting Luo Tianhe.

The saying "Ghosts fear evil people" is perfectly illustrated here.

Seeing that the incense was still burning, Jin and I headed towards Villa No. 3.

As planned, Luo Tianhe stayed behind to keep watch and monitor Zeng's whereabouts at all times, so that he could promptly alert us to any emergencies.

The villa's main gate is very grand, with beautiful stone walls and fences on both sides, and inside there are some flowers, plants and small trees.
