Chapter 170 [Night Wanderer]

By the time we got to Uncle Liu's house, the crowd had already dispersed.

The gate to Uncle Liu's house was tightly shut.

Luo Tianhe strode forward and pushed the door open forcefully with both hands.

"squeak--"

The door was slowly pushed open a crack.

In an instant, a strong, pungent smell of blood rushed towards us like a surging tide.

At the same time, something sticky was flowing out from under the door.

I reacted quickly and pulled Luo Tianhe back with all my might.

It's blood!

Thick, inky blood was continuously gushing out from the crack in the door.

With so much blood, what exactly happened inside?

"Master Jin, how did you know that something would happen to Uncle Liu's family?" I asked, voicing my doubts.

Master Jin slowly spoke: "The soul-transfer technique itself is correct, but there is one major mistake. Do you remember what Fifth Master used to nail Little Fatty's forehead?"

Before I could even speak, Luo Tianhe blurted out, "They're coffin nails!"

"That's right, that's where the mistake lies!"

Jin sighed heavily, his eyes filled with self-reproach: "I was just careless at the time and didn't think of it."

He then explained rapidly, "Coffin nails, also known as 'soul-suppressing nails,' were originally used to suppress the souls of the deceased in the coffin and prevent them from turning into zombies."

"Nailing the coffin to the forehead of a corpse is a major taboo, as it means that the path of reincarnation of the soul is completely blocked. The soul is trapped and full of resentment, which will surely cause disaster."

After saying that, Jin glared at me fiercely, his tone tinged with resentment: "If you had listened to me back then and burned Suqin's body before she rose from the dead, this wouldn't have happened."

My lips twitched violently, and I retorted in a low voice, "You didn't explain it clearly, and you even told me not to let Brother Luo know. How could I have thought of so much!"

Actually, there's something else I've been keeping to myself.

Zeng Wei's cousin specifically warned me to be careful of that old man.

The first person I thought of was Jin Ye.

However, saying this at this critical juncture is really hurtful.

Looking back now, perhaps she was reminding Fifth Master, not Master Jin.

"What do you know!"

Jin Ye's gaze quickly swept over Luo Tianhe, his expression tense. "At that time, there was a [night ghost] following behind him."

Upon hearing this, Luo Tianhe trembled violently and hurriedly turned to look behind him.

"Don't bother looking, it's long gone!" Jin sighed helplessly.

"Brother Jin, what is this [night wandering ghost] you mentioned earlier?" I asked.

Jin Ye's expression hardened, and he lowered his voice.

"This [night-roaming ghost] only appears at night and can eavesdrop on the conversations of the living. It's extremely eerie, which is why I didn't let you tell Xiao Luo. I was afraid it would overhear and cause more trouble. But look what happened, you two..."

Upon hearing this, I wished I could disappear into a hole in the ground, filled with remorse.

Just then, a shrill scream suddenly came from inside the house.

"It looks like Uncle Six!"

Jin Ye's body trembled violently, a resolute glint flashing in his eyes: "Let's go, let's go in!"

After saying that, he rushed into the house first.

Luo Tianhe and I exchanged a glance, gritted our teeth, and followed closely behind.

Stepping into the hall, a chill ran from the soles of my feet straight to the top of my head.

What came into view were two gruesome corpses.

One of the bodies was lying face down on the ground, its back soaked in blood, with large patches of blood that had dried and turned dark brown.

Judging from the familiar attire, this was a relative of Uncle Liu's family.

His body was contorted, his limbs stretched out in a bizarre posture, as if he had experienced immense pain and struggle before his death.

The other body was that of a woman.

She lay face up, her death so gruesome it was unbearable to look at.

His body was torn apart, his head was tilted to one side, and the wound on his neck was bloody and mangled, with blood vessels and trachea exposed.

One arm was missing, and the other arm hung limply to the ground, its fingers still bent.

His abdomen looked as if it had been ripped open by a wild beast, with his internal organs spilling out onto the ground.

Upon seeing this scene, Luo Tianhe felt a spasm in his throat and couldn't help but gag.

"Don't throw up!"

Jin glared at him, and Luo Tianhe quickly covered his mouth with his hand.

Just then, a strange sound came from upstairs.

It sounded like something heavy was being dragged along, or like a low roar, which seemed particularly eerie in the deathly silence.

Jin quickly pulled out a compass from his pocket.

The pointer spun rapidly in the center, emitting a slight buzzing sound.

Master Jin stared intently at the compass, his expression growing increasingly grave: "The needle is pointing directly to the Xun position, which represents wind and is associated with evil spirits. The needle's frantic spinning indicates that evil energy is raging here."

"Demon aura?"

I was extremely surprised.

Master Jin's face was gloomy, and he nodded slightly: "When Suqin turned into a corpse before, the snake fetus on her body was already extremely evil. Now it seems that this evil energy has been resurrected through the body, and another change has occurred."

As he spoke, he pointed upstairs, gesturing for us to go up.

Luo Tianhe and I exchanged a glance and went up the stairs.

The stairs were covered in thick blood, and with each step, the soles of my shoes made a sticky, sizzling sound against the ground.

Because we dared not reveal our whereabouts, we could only grope our way forward slowly in the dark, following the handrail of the stairs.

Suddenly, my hand touched something soft and furry.

"What's wrong?"

Seeing that I suddenly stopped, Mr. Jin asked softly.

I said I touched something.

As I said this, I also picked up the thing.

When I took a look in the dim light, I was so frightened that I threw the thing away immediately.
