I pulled Luo Tianhe aside and whispered in his ear:
"We can't completely trust Bai Linfeng. What if he sent someone to kill Uncle Ma..."
I didn't say anything explicitly, but it was enough to calm Luo Tianhe down.
Having been scammed so many times, I find it hard to trust anyone easily now, especially an old fox like Bai Linfeng.
"Since you didn't kill them, then call the police. When they arrive, they will clear your name!"
A villager suddenly shouted,
Seeing this, Li Huai moved closer to me.
"They really can't be ghosts, right? Ghosts would call the police, wouldn't they?"
I can't tell either.
"Anyway, let's find a way to escape first. Who knows if their so-called calling the police is just a delaying tactic!"
I turned on my phone, and there was clearly no signal at all. How could these villagers call the police?
"At least let us know how Uncle Ma died, right?"
"Hehe, bring up Uncle Ma's body!"
The next moment, I smelled an incredibly foul odor, and my stomach churned instantly.
The villagers were carrying a large vat, their faces bearing eerie smiles.
I held my breath and leaned over to look, and I almost threw up.
The thing in the jar was no longer recognizable as human; it was just a large mass of semi-congealed, yellowish-brown rotting flesh.
Countless white maggots burrowed in and out of the rotting flesh, writhing and turning like a pot of boiling rice porridge.
"vomit,"
Li Huai gagged, while Luo Tianhe vomited.
Even Bai Linfeng, who had been relatively calm, was now pale-faced, and his eyes held a hint of gratitude as he looked at me.
I understood what he meant; he was thanking me for not generously sharing a meat bun with him that morning.
I suppressed the urge to vomit and saw something that looked somewhat familiar in the rotting flesh—it was Uncle Ma's pipe!
This pile of rotten flesh really is him!
Seeing that the villagers had stopped acting, I drew my gun and fired, but I regretted it the next moment.
It would have been better if they hadn't fired. But once they did, the villagers who had looked like humans just moments before began to decompose rapidly, pus oozing out, and their bodies collapsed in an avalanche!
I dare not fire again; these villagers might as well just put on an act with me!
It was noon, and the sun was shining brightly on the earth, but there was not a trace of heat!
The villagers approached me with strange smiles on their faces.
I dared not fire again, but I couldn't just surrender!
I quickly took out a talisman and stuck it on the head of the villager who was near me. He froze instantly.
Seeing this, Luo Tianhe wiped his mouth after vomiting, tore open his outer garment, revealing the red rope and copper coins underneath.
The villagers who were close to us immediately stopped daring to approach him and swarmed towards me!
"Holy crap, Luo Tianhe, hurry up and go back!"
"Chen Yan, you have the Yellow Talisman, but I only have this."
Luo Tianhe looked at the disgusting clumps of rotten flesh, his lips twitched, and he refused to put on his coat even if it meant death!
I kept taking out the yellow talismans, but I found that the pressure was getting greater and greater.
Why are there so many villagers surrounding me?
I looked around. Luo Tianhe and Li Huai were wearing red ropes for protection against evil spirits, but the villagers avoided them like the plague, as if they had excrement on them.
But what about Bai Linfeng?
Why isn't anyone sharing the firepower with me?!
"Damn it, where is that old bastard?"
I was furious, only to discover that he had vanished without a trace!
"Damn, I didn't figure out how he disappeared either."
Luo Tianhe was so focused on watching me display my power that he didn't notice anything for a moment!
When Li Huai saw me looking at him, he gave a sheepish, guilty laugh.
"Damn it, you two idiots, all you do is watch the show!"
I'm really upset. I should have asked Luo Tianhe to get me one too!
I could sense that these villagers were low-level zombies, although I didn't know how they disabled my third eye.
However, their low lethality cannot be concealed!
After all, their bodies were so rotten that calling them mud would be an understatement!
But this thing is disgusting!
"You two, stop looking and block the way!"
The number of yellow talismans I brought was limited, while there were at least several hundred villagers here!
Hearing my shout, they finally reacted and stood in front of me. Taking advantage of their reluctance to approach, I climbed over the wall and escaped from the tightly wrapped courtyard, running towards the edge of the village!
But soon, I realized I was lost.
Although I'm not bad with directions, this is my first time visiting this village, and it's built in a very winding and twisting way!
Perhaps it was because the ghosts were no longer hiding themselves that the village appeared distorted and dilapidated in my eyes.
The once vibrant street is now cold, with paper money occasionally fluttering in the wind.
Every household kept their doors tightly shut, and in just a few minutes, the village became a ghost town!
I suppressed my wildly beating heart.
Bai Linfeng is definitely hiding something!
He tricked us into coming here; he must have had some ulterior motive, wanting us to take his attention!
I kept running, trying to find a way out of the village, but I was just running around like a headless fly!
Suddenly, I stopped in my tracks.
This is just a village after all. No matter how bad I am at directions, I've been wandering around for three or four hours. How could I not have gotten out yet?
I looked westward; the sun was about to set!
I have a premonition that something strange will happen in the village once night falls, and it might just kill me!
Thinking of this, I shakily took out my phone, only to find that there was still no signal!
There's nothing we can do!
I bit my tongue and spat it onto the ground.
At this point, I couldn't care less about anything else and could only use the blood pact as a way to try and escape this strange village.
Instantly, the blood seemed to come alive, flowing outwards.
I stared intently at the blood, without glancing to the side!
Grandpa once said that the blood pact is extremely ominous, and when following the path of blood, one must never be distracted and look to the sides!
Otherwise, if you get distracted for even a moment and then come back to your senses, the blood might not be your own anymore!
The path it points to is a dead end!
The scenery on both sides kept flashing by. After a while, the blood disappeared, and I dared to look around and found that I had arrived at the entrance of the village.
"Chen Yan! Why are you taking so long to come out? I've been waiting for you here for ages!"
Luo Tianhe stepped out of the shadows ahead, his voice tinged with resentment.
"Damn it, first we got lost, then we encountered a ghost wall. So, did you find Bai Linfeng? Where's Li Huai?"
Seeing that Luo Tianhe was unharmed, I first breathed a sigh of relief, and then asked.
"Didn't find him. Li Huai is waiting for you in the car. Let's hurry, it's already dark. Don't forget the rumor!"
Luo Tianhe's words sent a chill down my spine.
He's right, it's already dark!
"Come on, follow me!"
Luo Tianhe led me along a small path, and I immediately frowned:
"Luo Tianhe, we didn't come this way, did we?"
