Chapter 1540 The Compass Leads the Way

"And the car radio will automatically switch stations. Sometimes, when the car is parked at night, it will suddenly start playing opera music that you can't turn off!"

Zhou Ming became more and more emotional as he spoke, and he almost cried.

"And what's scariest is that I always feel like I'm not the only one here. Sometimes when I'm waiting at a red light, or when I'm driving home at night, I look in the rearview mirror and I feel like there's someone sitting in the back. But every time I suddenly turn around, there's nothing there!"

Yesterday afternoon, I couldn't stand it anymore, so I decided to drive my car to the temple before dark to have a master take a look. But...it almost led to a major accident!

"What happened?" Zhou Ming's story had completely piqued Luo Tianhe's curiosity, making him unable to resist asking.

"I was driving when I suddenly felt someone breathing on the back of my neck, and it was icy cold!"

"Although the air conditioning in my car often seems to be malfunctioning, this was the first time it blew directly onto my neck! I was so startled that I swerved the steering wheel and almost crashed into the car in front of me! Then I heard a woman's voice whispering in my ear!"

At this point, Zhou Ming, as if imitating the woman's voice, said in a high-pitched and ethereal tone:

"Master, how do I get to the ridge?"

His words instantly reminded me of what Fatty Wang had said during the day.

Both were in the western suburbs, and both involved strange passengers boarding the bus; there must be a connection between the two.

"That ridge, I've heard the elders in my family say, it was a mass burial ground a long time ago!"

Zhou Ming's voice was trembling with tears; he was on the verge of collapse.

"I was so scared I almost jumped out of my skin. I slammed on the brakes and stopped on the side of the road. I scrambled out of the car without even taking the keys out."

Later, I had to call a tow truck to take the car to Brother Zhang's place. I splashed black dog blood and sprinkled glutinous rice, but it was no use at all! Brother Zhang even found two people who supposedly knew a little about these things to take a look. They circled the car twice, their faces changed, and they left without even asking for money, saying that this thing was too fierce and they couldn't afford to mess with it!

After finishing his rapid-fire speech, Zhou Ming picked up a glass of water and drank it, still shaken.

The repair shop owner, whom he called Lao Zhang, nodded repeatedly.

"Yes, Master, nobody dares to touch Xiao Zhou's car now! When the sun was shining this afternoon, I mustered up the courage to go in and take out the memory card from the dashcam to see if any woman was talking. But as soon as I opened the car door, I felt a blast of cold air rush out."

"I didn't pay much attention at the time, thinking it was a problem with the air conditioning. But when I got into the car, it was as dark as night. Even though it was broad daylight, no light could get in. The indicator light on the dashcam was red and flashing. I quickly got out, closed the car door, and didn't dare to move again."

I walked over to the taxi. There was nothing wrong with the car itself, but the heavy, eerie aura made it seem as if a shadow had been cast over it.

I didn't open the car door immediately, but instead walked around the car to observe it carefully.

Soon, I realized something was wrong.

Below the right side bumper at the rear of the car, there is a dark red stain that has dried out!

That stuff was definitely not paint; it was more like some kind of viscous liquid, which was basically blood!

"What happened here? Did you run over someone?" I asked Zhou Ming, pointing in that direction.

Zhou Ming leaned closer, looking flustered, but after looking at it, he breathed a sigh of relief:

"Master, you're overthinking it. It's just a little blood. It's probably from some small animal. If it were a person, the whole back would be splattered with blood!"

I crouched down, lightly touched a little with my finger, brought it to my nose, and smelled it. It was a familiar, putrid, bloody stench.

This stuff is definitely not the blood of some small animal, it's human blood!

I am absolutely certain.

I stood up and said to Zhou Ming, "Give me the car keys. All of you, step outside the shop. No matter what you hear or see, don't come any closer or make a sound."

Immediately, Zhou Ming and Lao Zhang felt as if they had been granted a pardon. They quickly pulled the worker outside the plastic sheet, but couldn't help peeking inside.

"Luo Tianhe, Li Huai, you two go with them too."

I looked at Li Huai and Luo Tianhe again. They were just causing trouble here and couldn't help much for the time being, so I simply told them to go to the side as well.

Holding the car keys in my hand, I didn't open the door directly. Instead, I took out a small packet of incense ash from my backpack and sprinkled it thinly around the outside of the car, forming an irregular circle.

Then I took out three talismans to ward off evil spirits.

One talisman was pasted on the hood, another on the outside of the driver's side window, and the third on the rear window.

These three places are where the yin energy is heaviest.

There was no obvious reaction after the talisman was pasted on.

I took a deep breath, opened the car door, and got into the driver's seat.

The moment I sat down, I noticed the sun visor above the passenger seat popped down on its own with a "snap".

At the same time, the car radio suddenly turned on automatically with a "sizzle".

Damn it, I didn't even turn the key or start the car, how could this thing make a sound?

The three people outside, including Zhou Ming, were so frightened by what they saw that they almost screamed.

Luo Tianhe and Li Huai also looked worried.

I was a little unsure myself, but I tried my best to appear calm.

This thing is a bit strange, but I've seen so many storms, I really don't believe I could fall here.

My gaze swept to the back row, where the seats were shrouded in shadow.

I stood up and got out of the car, then slammed the driver's side door shut. I quickly walked to the back door and flung it open.

The moment the car door opened, an extremely cold aura suddenly surged out.

At the same time, I could clearly see a dark red stain on the rear seat near the right door!

The edges of the stain faintly outlined a human figure, as if someone had been sitting there for a long time, leaving behind the marks!

Something's definitely up!

Outside the circle of incense ash, Zhou Ming and the others who witnessed this scene turned as white as paper.

Li Huai and Luo Tianhe also held their breath and stared at me intently.

I didn't touch the stain immediately; it was just dirt stuck to the object.

Touching these things randomly can easily provoke aggression; you need to figure out their behavior first.

I pulled an old compass, about the size of my palm, out of my bag. I hadn't used this in a long time, but thankfully I wasn't too rusty.

I held the compass horizontally and slowly approached the car door. As soon as I entered the area of that cold air, the slender red needle in the center of the compass suddenly trembled!

It wasn't a normal rotation, but rather a small, nervous, rapid swaying from side to side, as if being manipulated by a hand.
