Chapter 205 The Statue Weeps

Which way to go?

Luo Tianhe looked at me.

I frowned and carefully examined the two passages, trying to find some clues.

At that moment, I noticed some blurry marks on the wall of the passageway to the left, as if they had been deliberately carved there.

As I approached, I saw that the marks resembled ancient symbols, crooked and twisted.

"How about we go this way?"

I pointed to the passageway on the left and said, "These symbols might be signs."

Luo Tianhe hesitated for a moment, then nodded: "Okay, I'll do as you say."

As soon as we stepped into the passage on the left, a strange sound came from behind us, like someone crying softly, or like a heavy sigh.

Luo Tianhe was startled and almost jumped up: "What was that sound?"

I listened carefully and said it sounded like the wind.

Luo Tianhe responded with an "oh," and without asking any further questions, he slowly walked forward, touching the wall.

After walking for a while, the passage suddenly opened up.

A huge circular stone chamber appeared before us.

In the very center of the stone chamber stood a huge stone platform, which emitted a faint blue light.

Upon closer inspection, the stone platform was covered with symbols similar to those on the previous wall, and in the center of the symbols was a groove, as if it were used to place something.

"What's this for?" Luo Tianhe reached out to touch the symbols on the stone platform, but I stopped him.

"Don't move around, be careful of traps."

I looked around warily, sensing a dangerous atmosphere permeating the stone chamber.

Just then, a slight rustling sound came from the corner of the stone chamber, as if something was crawling.

And that feeling of being watched reappeared.

At the same time, that feeling of being watched and being watched came back strong, and a chill ran up his spine.

I turned my head to look immediately.

Suddenly, a rat, as black as ink, darted out of the bottomless darkness like lightning.

It was enormous, larger than a pet kitten, and its long tail was about a meter long, making a slight scraping sound when dragged on the ground.

What's particularly eerie are its eyes, which gleam with a strange, blood-red light and stare straight at us.

"Damn, how can this rat be so big!"

Luo Tianhe was so frightened that he retreated repeatedly.

The giant rat in front of us is indeed outrageously large, completely exceeding our understanding of rats.

I don't know if it was just my imagination, but I felt that the way that rat looked at us was completely unlike the bewilderment and timidity of an ordinary rat.

Instead, it exudes a cunning and scrutinizing aura, much like a human eyeing an uninvited guest who has intruded into their territory.

"Old Chen, why do I feel like this rat's eyes look like a human's? It's giving me the creeps."

Clearly, Luo Tianhe had the same misconception as me.

I raised my hand to signal him not to make any rash moves, while keeping a close eye on the giant rat.

Strangely, the rat didn't seem to have any further intentions. It just stood there, staring at us, and time seemed to freeze at that moment.

One second, two seconds... Time passed second by second, and each second seemed incredibly long.

A sense of anxiety gradually rose in my heart.

We don't have much time to stand here and put up a stalemate with a rat.

This is inside the Mysterious Female Furnace, where danger could strike at any moment. We are tasked with finding crucial clues, so we can't just keep wasting our time like this.

Seeing that the rat didn't seem to intend to attack us for the time being, I lowered my voice and said to Luo Tianhe, "Brother Luo, it doesn't seem to be a threat. Let's ignore it for now and continue looking for what we need."

Luo Tianhe swallowed hard, but still nodded and replied in a low voice, "Okay, then... let's be careful."

Just as we turned around to continue exploring the stone chamber, Luo Tianhe, as if he had discovered a new continent, pointed ahead and shouted excitedly.

"Old Chen, come quick!"

I quickly walked over to him and saw that he was pointing at the wall of the stone chamber.

Looking in the direction he was pointing, there was a huge mural.

Due to its age, the mural's colors have faded somewhat, but the patterns are still clearly discernible.

In the image, a person dressed in an ancient robe holds an object that is extremely similar to the Xuanpin Furnace, surrounded by some extremely strange creatures.

These creatures come in all shapes and sizes; some have enormous wings that seem ready to take flight at any moment.

Some of them radiate a soft yet mysterious light, as if they came from a distant and unknown other world, giving people a sense of transcendence.

As we discussed the mural, the mouse remained in the same position, standing at a distance, its eyes fixed on us without blinking.

What does this painting mean?

I frowned, looking at the mural with a puzzled expression, my mind filled with confusion.

Luo Tianhe stroked his chin, lost in thought.

After a moment, he asked me, "Old Chen, do you think this mural might be related to the secret of the Mysterious Female Furnace? Look at this person, he might be the immortal who created the Mysterious Female Furnace. He's holding the Mysterious Female Furnace in his hand, and these creatures around him might have been attracted by the power of the Mysterious Female Furnace."

After hearing this, I felt that there was some truth to it, so I moved closer to the mural and began to observe it carefully.

Just as I was engrossed in studying the details of the mural, I suddenly felt Luo Tianhe pull my arm hard, and at the same time I heard him shout, "Watch out!"

Immediately afterwards, a gust of wind swept in from behind.

I instinctively turned my head and saw that the huge rat, which had been quietly staring at us, now had its fur standing on end and was emitting a low growl.
