"Ghost Village?"
"Damn it," I couldn't help but curse under my breath.
The villages we visited before were eerie, but at least they were inhabited by living people. What's with this ghost village suddenly appearing?
I turned to look at Li Huai, "How did you know?"
"Didn't you guys talk about a paranormal forum before? It's from our city. I saw a link below, so I clicked on it. It talked about a lot of haunted villages, and Ma Ya Village is the most haunted!"
Li Huai explained.
"How is it strange?" Luo Tianhe swallowed and asked.
"During the day, Ma'ya Village is said to be no different from any other village; it looks quite normal. But at night,"
At this point, Li Huai shrank his neck and paused.
I slapped his forehead. "Stop keeping me in suspense! Tell me!"
I was a little nervous and didn't control my strength properly, causing Li Huai to wince in pain.
“At night, these villagers are as if they are possessed. Regardless of age or gender, they will line up and walk one after another silently toward the cliff behind Ma Ya Village, where they will jump off and be smashed into a bloody pulp!”
"But the next day, they would reappear unharmed, as if nothing had happened the night before."
"Holy crap, that's so weird, can they really come back to life?"
Luo Tianhe exclaimed in surprise.
"I'm more inclined to believe that the ghosts are all from the daytime, so Ma Ya Village may have become a ghost town."
I thought for a moment, then turned to look at Bai Linfeng:
Are you sure that master really lives there?
“I’m sure he came to see me once two years ago and asked me to get Bai Yang into Anning Girls’ High School. After that, I even sent a driver to take him to the village.”
As Bai Linfeng said this, a hint of fear appeared on his face.
"What happened to the driver?"
I asked instinctively.
"The driver stayed in the village for one night and returned without any apparent abnormalities. But I noticed that he would disappear every night. It wasn't until one day when I had someone follow him that I discovered he would jump off a tall building every night and be reduced to a bloody pulp! But the next day he would reappear in front of me perfectly fine!"
"Are you sure it wasn't him colluding with the people you sent to follow you to scare you?"
"I initially thought so too, because the people I sent to follow them also started disappearing every night from the second day onwards."
“I didn’t believe in superstitions, so I sent people to follow them.”
Bai Linfeng's hand holding the cigarette trembled slightly.
"As a result, he started disappearing at night too!"
Bai Linfeng suddenly looked at us, his eyes filled with fear:
“Do you know what’s the scariest thing? They’re supposed to jump off buildings to commit suicide at night, but the next day, they’re acting like nothing happened. The first person I sent to follow them would report to me every day which building the driver committed suicide in.”
I couldn't help but feel a chill down my spine. People I knew jumped off buildings every day, and the next day they acted as if nothing had happened.
"How was it resolved in the end?"
Li Huai leaned closer to Bai Linfeng and asked.
"I dared not send anyone to follow them anymore. I found several renowned masters to perform exorcisms, but to no avail!"
"Until I met a strange man who told me to kill those people during the day. I did as he asked, and they indeed stopped bothering me."
Bai Linfeng's face turned cruel as he said this.
Li Huai nudged Luo Tianhe and said in a low voice:
"You're right, these rich people really have no humanity; they kill their own men without hesitation!"
Bai Linfeng suddenly lost control of his emotions and yelled at Li Huai:
"Do you think I wanted this? I was going crazy! They kept bothering me, and when I asked them what they did at night, they said they were sleeping. They're all dead, you know? I gave them a break!"
Li Huai was speechless for a moment. He hadn't expected Bai Linfeng to have such good hearing, that he had heard it all.
“I have taken care of their parents and given them a large sum of money. I have done everything I could!”
"Alright, let's not talk about these things anymore. We need to get to Ma Ya Village done as soon as possible, Bai Linfeng. I'll give you one night to prepare. We'll leave tomorrow morning, and try not to spend the night in Ma Ya Village."
I rubbed my temples, said those words, and left with Luo Tianhe and Li Huai.
Once I was outside, I said to them:
“This Maya Village is very strange, more eerie than any village I’ve ever been to before. If you don’t want to go, I won’t force you.”
"Damn it, what are you saying! Do I, Luo Tianhe, look like a coward? Besides, I was trying to save Lao Dao, what's it to you?"
Luo Tianhe punched me hard in the back without any hesitation, and I immediately let out a muffled groan.
That bastard didn't hold back at all; the place where I was hit felt burning hot.
"Brother Yan, you saved my life in the first place."
Li Huai said it calmly, the meaning of which was obvious.
"OK!"
I nodded. Since they've all said so, I won't argue any further.
I'm going to that ghost village tomorrow, so I need to prepare in advance.
I got up very early the next morning, and after washing up, the phone rang.
When I saw it was Luo Tianhe, I didn't answer the phone. Instead, I ran to the balcony and looked down.
Although we didn't see Luo Tianhe's imposing black Mercedes-Benz G-Class, we did see Luo Tianhe himself.
Luo Tianhe was sitting in a black Wuling minivan. He rolled down the window, leaned half his body out, and waved when he saw me.
I hung up the phone and went downstairs with my things.
"Why aren't you driving your black G-Wagon? Not showing off anymore?"
Seeing my puzzled look, he patted the steering wheel and explained:
“Maya Village is located deep in the mountains and forests, and the road conditions are very poor. My G-Wagon may not be as easy to drive as this Wuling. And most importantly, it can be driven casually, and I won’t feel bad if it gets lost.”
When I heard that, I realized that Li Huai and Bai Linfeng were already on the bus.
Knowing I had just gotten up, Li Huai handed me two steaming hot meat buns and a cup of soy milk.
I took it without hesitation, took a bite of the meat bun, slurped up some soy milk, and said politely:
"By the way, has Mr. Bai eaten yet?"
Bai Linfeng opened his mouth, and I quickly took a bite of the other bun in my hand. Immediately, Bai Linfeng made a face as if he had swallowed a dead fly.
"I haven't eaten, but I'm not hungry."
"It's good that you're not hungry."
I nodded. Feeling a little dizzy after eating, I said to Luo Tianhe:
"I'm a little sleepy, I'll take a nap first. Call me when you get tired of driving, and I'll take over."
"No need, you can go to sleep. Boss Bai is here. If I get tired, he can take over. Boss Bai, Chen Yan's face is still bruised from what your daughter did to him. He hasn't been in much spirits these past few days. You should understand, right?"
Luo Tianhe showed no politeness to Bai Linfeng.
Bai Linfeng forced a smile, suddenly realizing that coming to Maya Village with us was a huge mistake.
But now that we're on this pirate ship, it's too late to get off.
