Chapter 594 Sitting at the Children's Table

Apart from Ji Xinglan, the other two girls were terrified.

Zhang Ke, in particular, turned pale, which meant he was genuinely frightened.

Zhang Ke wanted to say something, but when he saw the tongue, he obediently shut his mouth.

That thing just now left a really deep impression on Zhang Ke.

Wu Xia was in a similar situation, while the servant whose tongue had been cut out was still working there.

I took a look, and he had practically no energy left in his body.

At that moment, I realized that this kid's energy must all be concentrated in his tongue.

In other words, this tongue is a good thing.

Based on my previous idea, I picked up the tongue. The reason was simple: in this place, basically nothing that falls is worthless, and I figured this thing was no exception.

After all, there is terrifying energy on it. Even if it has no other use, just using it to replenish energy is terrifying.

"Brother Chen, why are you picking this up?"

The ant hadn't been with me for very long, so it didn't know this rule and asked me directly.

"It's nothing. I just felt that this thing would be useful in the future, so I set it up!"

First, I took a handkerchief and carefully wrapped it around the tongue, then placed it in my mirror.

When in doubt, I first put things into the mirror, because I myself feel that this thing is a bit eerie.

"Uncle Chen, this is disgusting!"

Wu Xia, who was standing next to Zhang Ke, finally spoke up. Compared to Zhang Ke, Wu Xia's reaction was much better, and she quickly recovered.

"Disgusting as it may be, if your tongue gets cut off too, I'll help you keep it safe!"

Although I don't particularly dislike Wu Xia, I still gave her a verbal warning, as a way of telling her not to talk too much, or she would end up like this servant, without a tongue.

Sure enough, as soon as I finished speaking, Wu Xia understood my implied meaning and quickly shut her mouth.

"Alright, you guys should stop talking and just listen to Uncle Chen. He's very experienced, he must have his reasons for doing this!"

Ji Xinglan was more understanding; she managed to deflect everyone's conflict with just a few words.

Wu Xia even apologized to me. Of course, I wouldn't hold a grudge against a few eighteen-year-old girls. I was just reminding them not to talk too much.

The rest of the time was uneventful; the three of us just chatted, with Ji Xinglan occasionally chiming in.

However, every time Ji Xinglan interjected, it was at just the right time, as if she could perfectly get to the point.

This made me take another look at Ji Xinglan. I always felt that Ji Xinglan was not a simple girl.

He seems to have never experienced anything, but he actually gives me the feeling of being very mature and experienced.

After about fifteen minutes, we finally arrived. This time, instead of taking the small path as before, we went straight onto the main road.

When I entered the lobby, I saw that the guests were already seated.

There are just a few more spots on the side; I counted, and there are exactly seven.

"Please come in, guests!"

Lin Da gestured for him to enter.

We took our seats. We had assumed that the bride was in the sedan chair, but when the curtain was pulled back, an ordinary maidservant stepped out.

The difference is that this maid is more plump than the other maids, so she is probably the young lady's personal maid.

Because of limited resources in ancient times, even wealthy families couldn't feed everyone.

Only servants with a certain status, or those maids who had a good relationship with the master and mistress, could live a better life than other maids and servants.

Take Lin Da as an example. The standard of living for Lin Da students is significantly higher than that of ordinary students.

"Old Dao, you guys sit here. Ji Xinglan, the four of you over there!"

I started assigning them positions.

I glanced around and saw that there were quite a few guests present.

There are at least a hundred or so, and of course, the place is also huge, as if it were specially designed to entertain guests.

Old Knife and Ant took their seats, and Ji Xinglan pulled the remaining three silly boys to sit behind us.

The moment I sat down, I noticed that the four people's attire had changed.

"Sister Lan! Look, my clothes have changed!"

Zhang Ke screamed in surprise when she saw her clothes.

The three girls were all dressed in ordinary coarse cloth clothes.

The materials were not much different from those of the maids, maybe just slightly better.

The style is different from the maid's; it's probably something an ordinary woman would wear. Of the three, Ji Xinglan is the best dressed.

It was made of silk, which in ancient times was generally only worn by young ladies from wealthy families.

"Look at what's written in your manual!"

I whispered a reminder to them.

"Xinglan, you can speak. The other two cannot speak without your orders!"

I reminded Ji Xinglan.

Actually, it wasn't just Ji Xinglan and the others whose attire changed; my attire changed as well.

I was clearly dressed much more luxuriously, while Lao Dao looked rather poor in comparison, and Ant looked even worse.

Suddenly, I realized the purpose of this arrangement, and quickly pulled Ji Xinglan aside to reassign positions.

Ji Xinglan and I were at one table, while Lao Dao and Ant were at another.

The remaining two girls were at one table. Since it was two people per table, there was one seat left, and there was a child next to us. I asked Wang Xu to sit at the child's table.

"I'm at the kids' table, hehe, that's pretty cool!"

Wang Xu wasn't too angry when he heard about this arrangement; on the contrary, he seemed very happy.

"Uncle Chen, is there a plan behind this?"

Ji Xinglan mustered up her courage and began to ask me questions.

"Take a look at your manual first, see if there's anything new!"

I quickly reminded Ji Xinglan, and Ji Xinglan then remembered and quickly opened the manual. Sure enough, there were some words suddenly added to the back of the manual.

"Uncle Chen, you're amazing! You were absolutely right!"

Ji Xinglan suppressed her excitement, lowered her voice, and explained the contents of the document to me.

She is probably now a wealthy lady who has come to Miss Lin's wedding banquet with her maids from her maternal family.

I nodded slightly. It was basically the same as what I thought. Ji Xinglan was the mistress, Wu Xia and Zhang Ke were maids, and as for Wang Xu, he was probably her mentally challenged younger brother from her maternal family.

I can only sit at the same table as the children.

"Yes, just as I thought. You can treat it as role-playing! But I still have to remind you that there are absolute master-servant rules here. Servants cannot interrupt without the master's permission!"
