"Digging up graves?"
The village chief hesitated for a moment, pacing back and forth.
"After all, this grave-digging matter concerns our ancestors, and the master also said that we shouldn't dig randomly, lest it ruin the feng shui."
"What if something goes wrong? How can I face my ancestors? How can I explain this to the villagers?"
The Taoist priest gripped his whisk tightly: "No, no, village chief. The village is now plagued by disasters and rampant evil spirits. In addition, the magical artifacts buried here have all been dug up. If we don't reopen the graves, the entire village will probably be doomed."
"Moreover, those outsiders have been causing trouble in the village, and the root of the problem might lie in these ancestral graves."
"Digging up the grave now may seem against common sense, but it's actually to save the entire village. We can't miss this opportunity!"
When the old woman heard that the grave was to be opened, her previously calm face instantly contorted, and she let out a strange "waaaaaaa" sound.
She struggled desperately, trying to break free of the ropes binding her.
The village chief was still hesitant, but seeing the old woman's strong reaction, he immediately made up his mind.
"When Miss Bai died, you insisted on digging up her grave, but now you're refusing to let me open it. What are you up to, you old hag? Even if I have to go against the ancestors' wishes, I'm going to dig up this grave and see what you're up to!"
After saying this, he turned to the Taoist priest, clasped his hands together, and bowed deeply.
"Master, we entrust this matter entirely to you. The safety of our village depends on your ritual. We hope you will do your utmost to find the root of this disaster and save our Rabbit Ear Village from this calamity!"
The Taoist priest nodded slightly and solemnly instructed his men to bring out the prepared items one by one.
Soon, the villagers set up a square table and then arranged incense, candles, paper money, flowers, fruits, pastries, wine, and boiled pork.
At the Taoist priest's instruction, the village chief solemnly picked up the incense and lit the candles, then bowed several times in the direction of the [Evil Spirit Invasion Array].
He was muttering to himself.
"Ancestors above, today your descendants have to disturb you in order to find out the cause of the village's disaster. We hope that you will forgive us in heaven and bless us to find out the truth and keep the village safe."
Several young people nearby also offered incense and prayers, their eyes filled with awe and piety.
After comforting the spirits of their ancestors, the village chief arranged for several strong young men and women from the village to stand aside and wait, carrying tools such as shovels, picks, and ropes to dig the graves.
With everything prepared, the Taoist priest stood at the forefront, lit the incense, and then bowed to each of the four directions.
He then picked up the peach wood sword, dipped it lightly in cinnabar, and began to write with flowing strokes on the yellow paper.
After finishing the drawing, the yellow paper was lit and thrown into the incense burner. In an instant, the flames shot up and illuminated the surroundings.
"This grave-digging is an activity with heavy yin energy. Those born in the years of the Rooster, Rabbit, and Dog should all avoid it for now, lest they offend the gods," the Taoist priest said, turning to the crowd.
Seeing everyone turn away, the Taoist priest, sword in hand, slowly paced around the tomb, chanting incantations: "Eastern Azure Spirit, essence of Jia and Yi, dragon horns displaying might, tiger roars and wind arises..."
After reading it, he grabbed the lively rooster on the ground, chopped off its head with his sword, and blood gushed out instantly.
"go!"
The Taoist priest shouted and forcefully threw the headless chicken carcass in his hand toward the grave.
Surprisingly, the headless rooster did not fall down immediately. Instead, it seemed to be driven by an invisible force, kicking its feet wildly on the ground and struggling and jumping desperately, scattering its feathers everywhere.
After jumping around frantically a few times, it suddenly seemed to be attracted by something, ran around the formation once, and finally fell to the ground with a "plop" and then remained motionless.
"What...what's going on? This rooster's head is gone, but it's still running!"
One villager stared wide-eyed, his mouth agape.
"Heavens above, could this Taoist priest really possess supernatural abilities?"
In an instant, gasps and whispers rose and fell among the crowd, everyone deeply shocked by the bizarre and magical scene before them.
"snort!"
The old lady next to me let out a cold snort.
I asked her softly, "Grandma, is there something wrong with what you're doing?"
The old lady pursed her lips, mumbled a few words, a mocking sneer on her face, and then shook her head.
I think I understood what she meant. She was saying that this person was a fraud, and that doing this would not only fail to avert disaster but would also kill everyone.
fraud?
At this moment, the Taoist priest suddenly shouted, picked up a yellow talisman with his peach wood sword, circled it around the candle a few times, and then pointed it at the four directions.
"We beseech the Spirit Child Messenger to return these five magical artifacts to their proper places to suppress this formation and ensure the peace of our village!"
Upon hearing this, five young men, shirtless, with red headscarves tied around their heads and their backs covered with talismans drawn in red cinnabar, respectfully carried a tray.
The tray contained the items we had previously dug out from the [Evil Spirit Invasion Array].
But when I saw the direction the Taoist priest pointed to, my heart jumped into my throat.
This guy is a complete fraud!
The items we previously unearthed from the directions of Xun, Li, Kan, Dui, and Kun were already extremely strange.
These items were deliberately buried here to add endless resentment to the extremely sinister [Evil Spirit Invasion Array], disrupt the feng shui of this place, and plunge it into chaos and disaster.
This is like planting dangerous seeds in the feng shui pattern, which, over time, continuously erode the original balanced energy field.
