Chapter 153 No Face

It turned into a snake?!

"How could a person turn into a snake?!"

Luo Tianhe's eyes widened in surprise.

Zeng Wei licked his dry lips and spoke slowly.

“Yesterday, Suqin went up the mountain as usual. Li Erzhu from the village saw her walking in a daze toward the place where she usually caught snakes, so he wanted to call her.”

"But Suqin seemed to have lost her soul, showing no reaction at all, and just walked straight ahead."

"Li Erzhu felt something was wrong, so he quietly followed behind, and then he saw Suqin suddenly disappear into thin air."

Zeng Wei's voice was very low: "Li Erzhu rushed to the place where she disappeared and saw that there was a cliff below. Below the cliff was a huge snake pit with tens of thousands of venomous snakes intertwined. Li Erzhu was almost scared out of his wits."

"Then Li Erzhu saw an enormous snake tail disappear into the grass, it was about this big."

He gestured with his hand: "He said the tail was this thick!"

The terrifying image of that giant snake involuntarily surfaced in my mind.

If it's really as big as Zeng Wei gestured, then how big and long would this snake be?

It must be at least ten meters long, right?

I can't even imagine!

Jin listened quietly the whole time.

Hearing this, he couldn't help but interject, "It's not surprising to find giant snakes in these deep mountains and forests. The world is vast and full of wonders. Just because we haven't seen something doesn't mean it doesn't exist."

As they were talking, an old woman leaning on a cane slowly walked towards them.

Her body was hunched over, and every step she took seemed extremely difficult.

She carried a woven bag on her back that was even larger than her body.

The bag was filled with all sorts of trash and empty bottles.

As she moved, she made a "rustling" sound.

Her back was severely hunched, her head was almost touching the ground, and she walked with a limp.

As she passed by us, I caught a glimpse of her face.

In that instant, my heart clenched.

she……

She has no face!

Upon closer inspection, it was because her face had been severely burned by the fire, and her features were distorted and shrunken together.

It's like a lump of dough that's been kneaded into a ball, making it impossible to tell what it originally looked like.

The skin was a horrifying charred black, covered with uneven scars, making it a sight to behold.

Luo Tianhe was also startled and instinctively took a few steps back.

Only after the old woman had gone far away did he pat his chest with lingering fear.

"Holy crap, that scared the hell out of me! I thought I'd seen a ghost in broad daylight!"

Zeng Wei glanced back at the old woman's back, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes: "She is Zeng Yonghua's sister."

"Zeng Yonghua's sister?"

So down and out?

Her brother is the richest man in the world, how could he let her be reduced to picking up garbage to make a living?

Zeng Wei spat, his disgust undisguised.

“Zeng Yonghua committed numerous evils, and his brothers and sisters deserved to suffer retribution!”

Jin frowned slightly: "Retribution? What do you mean by that?"

Luo Tianhe also came over, asking with a curious look, "You didn't set the fire, did you?"

"How is that possible!"

Zeng Wei hurriedly cried out in protest: "That was a natural disaster. It wasn't just her; her brothers were all burned to death."

Upon hearing this, I suddenly recalled the information that Luo Tianhe had previously investigated.

He was once the richest man in China, with two older brothers and one older sister.

He was the fourth child in his family, so outsiders called him Fourth Brother.

However, ten years ago, his brother and nephew were burned to death in a fire, leaving only his sister.

I never imagined that I would end up in such a miserable state, with my face disfigured.

Jin Ye pressed further, "What exactly happened with that natural disaster? Tell me in detail."

Zeng Wei glanced around quickly, as if afraid that something might hear him.

"The first fire was really strange; it happened to Zeng Yonghua's older brother."

“The house suddenly caught fire in the middle of the night. The fire was so big that by the time everyone found out, it was too late to put it out. It burned very quickly, and his older brother was burned alive inside, without even a complete body left.”

"A year later, a second fire broke out."

Zeng Wei paused, his expression growing increasingly grave: "This time, it was his other brother who was burned down. It also happened at night, without any warning, and instantly engulfed the entire house. By the time we arrived, it was too late."

"The third time!"

Zeng Wei's voice was so low it was almost inaudible: "Another year passed, and his nephew also couldn't escape this calamity. The child was still young, only a teenager, and his life was taken by this inexplicable fire. The scene was too tragic..."

"The fourth time, it was his sister's turn. The fire disfigured her and made her mentally unstable. Since then, she has lived like this, making a living by scavenging for garbage."

At this point, Zeng Wei glanced around warily and lowered his voice even further.

"Moreover, when passing by those burned houses at night, sometimes you can hear loud screams coming from inside and see flames."

"Several times, someone called the police and the firefighters came, but when they got there, they couldn't find a single spark, as if the sounds and lights were just illusions."

"But we all know that it wasn't an illusion; it must be the work of vengeful spirits, their retribution!"

Four fires claimed three lives and left one person disfigured.

Moreover, a fire occurs every year.

Is it really such a coincidence?

I looked at Master Jin, wanting to ask him what he thought.
