"What the heck?"
I glared at Luo Tianhe fiercely: "Stop messing around!"
"I really didn't make a fuss!"
Luo Tianhe had been speaking in a low voice before, but now that he saw I didn't believe him at all, his voice suddenly rose several times, and he shouted at the top of his lungs.
"You really think I'm joking? You really did grope a woman's butt on the street, I saw it with my own eyes!"
This is really strange.
A "me" works diligently for me at the funeral home and is also keen on doing good deeds;
Meanwhile, another "me" is doing evil and immoral things on the street.
This whole thing felt incredibly weird no matter how I looked at it, and my head instantly went completely blank.
Seeing my bewildered expression, Jin Ye seemed to guess what I was thinking and chuckled twice.
But out of the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of Big Bear glaring at him fiercely. Jin Ye was so frightened that he shuddered and quickly wiped the smile off his face, his expression becoming extremely serious.
“If I’m not mistaken, there are five other ‘yous’ out there, each doing something corresponding to one of the seven deadly sins.”
"The Seven Deadly Sins?"
Luo Tianhe and I exchanged a glance, our eyes filled with confusion.
Jin cleared his throat and continued to explain.
“Look, now we know that one of you has succumbed to lust and harassed women on the street;
A person who appears to be doing good deeds may actually be satisfying their own false pride.
In my opinion, of the remaining five 'you', one is most likely driven by greed, frantically amassing wealth somewhere, and resorting to any means to obtain money.
There was one who was deeply addicted to binge eating, gorging himself in restaurants and wasting food without restraint;
One of them was consumed by anger, constantly provoking trouble and getting into fights.
Another is plagued by laziness, holed up in some corner, drifting aimlessly, accomplishing nothing;
As Jin Ye spoke, he counted on his fingers, his expression growing increasingly serious.
Luo Tianhe counted and said, "We're still one short."
Jin glanced at me: "Isn't there another one here?"
The Seven Deadly Sins?
Suddenly it dawned on me, and I asked eagerly, "You mean, my soul is doing what 'they' are supposed to do' in various places?"
Jin nodded and asked if I still remembered the [Seven Deadly Formations of the Netherworld].
I said of course I remember.
“I told you before that the original purpose of this [Seven Deadly Arrays of the Netherworld] was to help people reshape their souls. Although you broke two of them, the [Seven Deadly Arrays of the Netherworld] had already started when you entered the Mysterious Female Furnace.”
Jin Ye's words only made my head spin even more.
"Master Jin, do you mean Wu Zhiguo is helping me reshape my soul?"
As soon as I finished speaking, I realized that my guess was unreliable.
Wu Zhiguo and I are not related, so why would he go to such great lengths to help me?
"Pooh!"
Jin spat on the ground, his face full of disdain: "You really dare to dream! Keep dreaming! There are many things I couldn't figure out before, but now I've finally figured it out. It's not just me, but Wu Zhiguo, Lingmei, and everyone you've met before. They've all been tricked by your grandfather!"
My grandfather?
I was struck dumb, frozen in place, my mind completely blank.
It took him a while to come to his senses: "My grandfather passed away a long time ago. How could he... how could he possibly scheme against so many people? This... how could this be possible?"
Looking at my appearance, Jin Ye gave a meaningful, cold smile.
"Hmph, life and death may be an insurmountable chasm in the eyes of ordinary people, but in the eyes of a master like your grandfather, it may just be an illusion. Do you think that when a person dies, it's like a lamp going out, and everything is gone?"
"How naive! Some people, even after they die, leave behind plans and schemes that can influence future generations and turn the tide. How could you and I possibly fathom the methods your grandfather used?"
"The cycle of cause and effect in this world is intricate and interconnected. Perhaps he began to lay the groundwork long ago, leading everyone step by step into the game he has set up."
He paused, then added, "And I suspect that your grandfather didn't die at all!"
"Impossible!" I retorted loudly.
I personally prepared his body for his funeral and buried him myself. Moreover, his heart was gone, so how could he not be dead?
Jin Ye wasn't angry at my agitation; he just looked at me calmly and spoke slowly.
"Actually, it's easy to tell whether someone is dead or not. Just go back to the place where you buried your grandfather and dig up his grave to find out."
His words were like a sharp dagger, piercing straight into the softest part of my heart.
Should we dig up Grandpa's grave?
That was the person I respected and was closest to the most. He has been sleeping peacefully underground for a long time. How could I bear to disturb his peace?
But Jinye's words were like a thorn, stuck in my heart, making me unable to stop thinking about them.
If Grandpa really didn't die, then what does all this mean?
How should I face this truth that may overturn my understanding?
"Big Bear, teach this old man a lesson for spreading his heretical teachings!"
Seeing that I was in a bad mood with my head down, Luo Tianhe winked at Da Xiong, put his arm around my shoulder, and went out.
Behind me, however, there was no screaming like Jin Ye's, the kind of agonizing wail I had imagined.
Only maniacal laughter could be heard.
"Chen Bazhong, Chen Bazhong, you have deceived everyone, we have all been deceived by you!"
