"Listen! Listen! It's breathing again!"
The viscous liquid seeping from the gaps in the cabinet door climbed up my wrist like countless tiny tentacles.
"mom!"
Li Xiulan screamed and tried to grab her, but was violently thrown off balance and stumbled.
The old woman suddenly curled up into a baby-like position, rolling around on the ground, emitting strange giggles, just like an out-of-control marionette.

I stuffed the cinnabar talisman into her hand: "The things in that cabinet will probably take shape by midnight."
Late at night, I climbed over the rusty security window to the second floor.
The entire building was eerily quiet, with only the occasional barking of dogs coming from afar.
As I passed by Huwa's room, a faint red light shone through the crack in the door, accompanied by soft humming sounds.
I held my breath and peeked through the crack in the door to see Huwa kneeling on the ground with the tattered rag doll in front of him.
Under the moonlight, the red mark on his wrist glowed eerily, and the eyes, which were made of doll buttons, had been replaced by two bloodshot marbles.
This is strange. Wasn't the plan to have Li Xiulan take Huwa out to hide?
