Chapter 1056 Contacting Yongchang

On the evening of the second day, in a room at the Yunlai Hotel in the eastern part of Qingdao, Xu Yongchang was sitting at a table, gently wiping a part of his sidearm. Other pistol parts were neatly arranged on the table. Good gunmen take great care of their sidearms, maintaining them every three or four days, and also after each shot, in order to minimize wear and tear and keep them in optimal condition at all times.

Xu Yongchang did not participate much in this Qingdao operation. In fact, after Fu Shengyuan was arrested, the agents of the Special Agent Headquarters stopped handling the case. The subsequent arrest work was all taken over by the Qingdao garrison and the Special Higher Police. As for the subsequent interrogation work, only Li Zhiqun and Wang Hanmin came forward. Therefore, the agents of the Special Agent Headquarters stayed at the Yunlai Hotel to rest.

Just then, Zhao Kai pushed open the door and walked briskly to Xu Yongchang, saying with a smile, "Brother Chang, the brothers want to go out for a couple of drinks, why don't you come with us?"

Xu Yongchang looked up at Zhao Kai, his hands still busy, and replied indifferently, "Forget it, I have no appetite. Besides, you won't feel comfortable if I go. You guys go!"

Zhao Kai knew that Xu Yongchang was usually taciturn and strict with his team members. So even though everyone trusted him, they were all a little reserved when they were together. It seemed that Brother Chang knew that his personality was too introverted and was afraid of spoiling his subordinates' fun.

Thinking of this, Zhao Kai chuckled and said, "Alright, I'll go out for a drink with them. Brother Chang, I've noticed you've been looking rather down these past few days. We really made a great contribution in Qingdao this time. The director said that we'll be richly rewarded when we get back, with each brother receiving a bonus. Everyone's incredibly happy and is planning to take advantage of the free time these next few days to travel around. Don't just stay cooped up in the hotel all the time."

Xu Yongchang smiled slightly and forced a smile, saying, "I don't like going out. It's so cold, what's the point of getting better? You guys should also drink less, in case the director comes back and assigns tasks, don't mess things up!"

"Okay! I understand!" Zhao Kai waved his hand, readily agreed, turned and went out. Not long after, a noisy commotion could be heard, followed by a flurry of footsteps outside, which quickly subsided and returned to calm.

Xu Yongchang knew that these people had all gone out to have fun together. Now that everyone was free, Li Zhiqun and Wang Hanmin were both busy with their own affairs. Their subordinates were all originally members of the Green Gang and had many bad habits. With no one to restrain them, they quickly became lax.

Xu Yongchang didn't want to cause any trouble. He was in a terrible mood these past two days and couldn't muster any enthusiasm for these matters.

During his trip to Qingdao, he lost contact with his organization. Without instructions or an online presence, he could do nothing but watch helplessly as the Qingdao station and the special operations team were destroyed.

While he was at the Special Higher Police station, he watched as the bodies of the special operations team members were thrown onto trucks and brought back like sacks. The oppression in his heart made it hard for him to breathe.

At that moment, he really wanted to pull out his gun and trade his life for Li Zhiqun's, killing them both on the spot with a single shot. But he knew that he couldn't act on his own without orders; he had no right to do so.

However, the intelligence department is probably unaware of my arrival in Qingdao. For now, I can only return to Shanghai and re-establish contact.

A while later, just as he was wiping and maintaining his gun, the knocking on the door sounded again, and Xu Yongchang couldn't help but frown.

The door opened, and a hotel staff member came to change the thermos. The staff member placed the thermos on the table, turned to Xu Yongchang, bowed, and asked, "Excuse me, are you Mr. Xu Yongchang?"

Xu Yongchang's eyes narrowed, his hands paused, and he stared at the waiter. He quickly realized that the waiter was a hotel employee, someone he had seen many times before.

Xu Yongchang slowly nodded and said, "That's me!"

Upon hearing this, the waiter smiled and said, "Well, a gentleman downstairs just asked me to pass on a message to you. He said that your friend would like to invite you to meet him in private room number five at Anju Tavern on the east side of the street!"

Xu Yongchang was taken aback. What friends did he have in Qingdao? Who wanted to see him? He pondered for a moment, and just as he was hesitating, the waiter spoke up again: "Oh, I forgot, that gentleman said his surname is Hong, and he's a good friend of yours!"

Xu Yongchang's eyes lit up immediately. His contact was his old comrade-in-arms, Hong Shijie. He had lost contact with him after leaving Shanghai in a hurry. Could it be that Hong Shijie had found out his whereabouts and rushed to Qingdao to contact him?

With so much happening in Qingdao, Xu Yongchang was struggling to get instructions and was now eager to contact the organization. The thought that Hong Shijie might be coming to contact him immediately perked him up, and he quickly nodded and said, "Yes, yes, there is indeed a friend here named Hong. Thank you for your help!"

After saying that, Xu Yongchang took out a few banknotes from his pocket and handed them to the waiter.

The waiter's eyes lit up, and he skillfully took the banknotes, stuffing them into his pocket while hurriedly thanking him, saying, "Your friend already tipped you, thank you so much, Mr. Xu!"

Xu Yongchang didn't take it seriously, patted the waiter on the shoulder, and said in a low voice, "It's okay, don't gossip about it, understand?"

The waiter quickly nodded and said, "Understood, understood!"

Xu Yongchang watched the waiter leave with a kind expression, then his expression turned serious. He turned around and went to the table, quickly assembled the gun, checked the magazine, and then tucked it into his waistband. He opened the door, looked around to make sure no one was watching, and then strode out of the hotel.
