Two days passed quickly. At eight o'clock in the morning, in a luxury apartment on Jessfield Road.
Hu Yunhe, the director of the Second Division, came out of his home, turned around and gave a few instructions to the two elderly servants in his house, then got into the car with his briefcase in hand, and the driver started the car and drove towards the intelligence headquarters.
Hu Yunhe has always been single and has no family. The only people in his home are a husband and wife who have been his servants for many years.
His residence was not far from the headquarters compound. After his identity was exposed and he defected to the enemy, he moved his family to Jessfield Road for safety reasons. It was close to the headquarters and the whole street was a residential area for headquarters personnel. It was heavily guarded and had sentries everywhere. Outsiders dared not enter the area. With sufficient defense, the security was naturally very high.
The vehicle arrived at the gate of the compound quickly. Although the guards recognized his car, they still went up to check it. After he rolled down the window, the guards glanced at it briefly and quickly nodded to signal him to let it pass.
The vehicle entered the compound and stopped. Hu Yunhe stepped out of the car and walked towards the office building.
Luo Xingchao, who had arrived at the office earlier, stood sideways at the window, carefully observing Hu Yunhe's actions through the glass. He nodded when he saw Hu Yunhe enter the building.
He turned to Cui Yuanfeng beside him and said, "How's the arrangement at the liaison point going, starting today when we begin contacting Hu Yunhe?"
"Everything is arranged. In the past two days, Wenxiang personally led the team to set up two surveillance points near the liaison point. The personnel used were all our veterans, and the best cameras were deployed. In addition, Feng Shinian was asked to guard the place day and night."
"Did you find anything?"
"Yes, we have discovered a new person who has been in contact with Huang Lihui. After Feng Shinian's identification, this person is named Lu Jian. He used to be the head of the intelligence department at the Beiping Station. He was a trusted subordinate of Chen Hongchi and Feng Shinian's former superior."
"Is he a high-ranking official?"
Luo Xingchao immediately became interested; it seemed that Huang Lihui's contact point was indeed very valuable.
“Yes, Lu Jian’s status must be quite high. I estimate that in the new Shanghai station, he must hold at least a high position such as the head of the intelligence department. We tried to track him, but he disappeared in the civilian area of western Shanghai. I estimate that there must be an important stronghold of theirs there.”
Luo Xingchao frowned immediately and said seriously, "Don't cause any unnecessary trouble. Don't follow them. Even if we find their whereabouts, it won't mean much to us. If we alert them, all our efforts will be wasted!"
Cui Yuanfeng quickly explained, "Yes, that's what we told you too. Don't worry, we kept a great distance, so we definitely didn't disturb him. Otherwise, he wouldn't have shaken us off so easily. Old Qin is a master at tracking. Seeing that the other party was too wary, he gave up on his own initiative."
The "Old Qin" that Cui Yuanfeng mentioned was a colleague of Luo Xingchao and others at the Shanghai station. He was also one of the people captured together. Later, they joined the Detective Division together and eventually transferred to the No. 76 Special Agent Headquarters. He had always worked under Luo Xingchao. There were quite a few old men like him, all of whom were Luo Xingchao's original team and were relatively reliable.
For safety reasons, Luo Xingchao used only these veteran agents this time, which would ensure that some confidential information would not be leaked to the greatest extent possible.
Luo Xingchao was relieved and then asked, "Everything is ready. Let's wait and see. As soon as Hu Yunhe appears near the contact point, we'll start filming. We must confirm his whereabouts!"
Hu Yunhe briefly handled his official business in his office, then glanced at the time. It was already nine o'clock in the morning. He didn't have to go to church for worship today; he had to go to the jewelry store to oversee his business.
So he got up, left the office, locked the door, and turned to walk towards the stairs.
This office building is the main building of the Special Agent Headquarters. The third floor was the office floor for Li Zhiqun and Ding Mo. After Ding Mo left, it became Li Zhiqun's private floor.
Both the First and Second Divisions were located on the second floor of the office building, meaning that Hu Yunhe and Luo Xingchao worked on the same floor. When Hu Yunhe arrived at the stairwell, he heard the sound of a door opening behind him. Hu Yunhe turned around and saw Luo Xingchao, the head of the First Division, opening his office and walking towards the stairwell.
Upon seeing that it was Luo Xingchao, Hu Yunhe quickly greeted him first: "Director Luo, are you going out?"
Luo Xingchao's current position in the Special Agent Headquarters is second only to Li Zhiqun. In the Special Agent Headquarters, only Wu Shicai, the captain of the Action Brigade, can compare to him. As the director of the First Division, he can even act as the head of the organization when Li Zhiqun is too busy to attend to other matters. Naturally, his position is above that of the other division chiefs.
Not to mention his special status, which everyone knew perfectly well. So when Hu Yunhe saw Luo Xingchao, he quickly greeted him, which was the attitude of a subordinate to a superior. However, Hu Yunhe did it without any reluctance and naturally lowered his posture.
When Luo Xingchao saw Hu Yunhe greeting him, he smiled slightly and said with a warm expression, "I have some things to do on fieldwork. The military unit is always causing trouble, and I'm extremely busy right now."
At this point, he couldn't help but jokingly say to Hu Yunhe, "You're so lucky, brother, to have such a leisurely and carefree life. Everyone else is so envious!"
The departments within the Special Agent Headquarters have clearly defined roles. The First Division is responsible for dealing with the Military Intelligence Bureau, the Second Division is responsible for dealing with the Central Bureau of Investigation and Statistics (Zhongtong) and the underground Communist Party, the Third Division is responsible for dealing with the Communist Party of China and the New Fourth Army, and the Fourth Division is responsible for handling various affairs in the foreign concessions, including turning the Green Gang against the Communists, etc.
Hu Yunhe's job was to deal with the Central Bureau of Investigation and Statistics (CBIS) and the underground Communist Party. However, the CBIS intelligence organizations in Central and Eastern China had long been wiped out and disappeared. The underground Communist Party was tightly organized, and even the 76th Bureau had difficulty finding their whereabouts. Therefore, Hu Yunhe, the director of the Second Division, had always been relatively idle.
