Chapter 186 Goal Achieved

The rickshaw driver's words immediately surprised Tong Huahan. The fact that the driver addressed him as "Mr. Tong" meant that he had come specifically for him.

Fortunately, this was a busy downtown area. Looking at the crowd around him, he became bolder. At least here, criminals wouldn't dare to openly rob or injure people. He calmed himself down and asked, "I wonder which gentleman wants to see me? This method is too impolite. I want to get off the bus now, or I'll call the police!"

To everyone's surprise, the rickshaw driver didn't seem to care at all and said leisurely, "Mr. Tong, don't worry. My husband has no ill intentions. He just wants to invite you to a simple meal. We'll be at the Violet Restaurant up ahead soon! I advise you to behave yourself, otherwise things will get awkward for everyone, and calling the police will be pointless!"

By the end, his words carried a hint of threat, clearly showing his disdain for the so-called patrol officers.

Hearing the rickshaw driver's confidence, Tong Huahan calmed down. If it were a real criminal who committed murder and arson, he would have to be somewhat wary of the police in this bustling city.

But judging from the driver's tone, the owner behind them must be someone with a certain status and background, otherwise he wouldn't be so confident. This actually made Tong Huahan feel a little more at ease!

The rickshaw soon stopped in front of the Violet Restaurant, where two young men in casual Zhongshan suits were already waiting. They gestured for Tong Huahan to enter, clearly there to welcome him.

Tong Huahan had no choice but to get off the rickshaw. As he walked forward, he realized that two more young men dressed in Zhongshan suits had gotten off the rickshaw behind him, and the four of them surrounded him.

Tong Huahan then realized that there were other accomplices following him all along. If he really didn't want to come and a dispute broke out, these people would probably just take action!

What's meant to be will be! Tong Huahan stamped his foot and decided to stop thinking about it. He followed the four young men through the main gate and arrived at the door of a private room. One of the young men pushed open the door and gestured for them to enter.

Tong Huahan did not hesitate and went straight into the private room. He saw that the table in the room had already been set with dishes and food. A young man wearing a dark Zhongshan suit was sitting opposite him.

The young man had a cold and stern face, especially his pair of icy eyes that exuded a chilling aura. He stared quietly at Tong Huahan.

He gestured with his hand and then said, "Mr. Tong, please have a seat!"

As soon as Tong Huahan entered the private room, Ning Zhiheng carefully observed his face. Ning Zhiheng had an extremely strong ability to observe people's facial features. He carefully recalled photos of Tong Huahan when he was young.

He carefully compared in his mind the distance between his eyebrows and eyes, the features of his facial features, the direction of his jawbone, and so on.

Finally, he confirmed that the Tong Huahan in front of him was the same person as the person in the photo in the materials collected by the intelligence department, which put his mind at ease!

The fact that it's the same person means that Tong Huahan is at least not Japanese. He has always known that many Japanese spies entered China many years ago, and many of them impersonated Chinese and infiltrated various social strata.

Tong Huahan's life story is very clear. As long as he is not an imposter, the possibility that he is a Japanese spy is extremely small.

Now he needed to confirm whether he had been bribed by the Japanese. He believed that unless the other party was a specially trained agent, he could determine the other party's true identity by carefully observing their words.

"May I ask who you are?" Tong Huahan asked, sitting opposite Ning Zhiheng.

Ning Zhiheng didn't waste any words. He stared intently at Tong Huahan and said, "It seems Mr. Tong is quite nervous. If I don't tell you, I'm afraid you won't be able to finish this meal. Alright!"

At this point, he took out two identification documents from his jacket pocket: one was his military officer's ID, and the other was his official identification from the Military Intelligence Investigation Department. He then pushed them in front of Tong Huahan.

Tong Huahan gently picked up the two documents, opened them, and was immediately shocked to find that the young man in front of him was actually the action team leader of the Military Intelligence Investigation Department.

He certainly knew the reputation of the Military Intelligence Investigation Bureau, a place rumored to be like the underworld, filled with spies and assassins, all as terrifying as demons. He never expected that it would come after him today.

Ning Zhiheng stared intently at Tong Huahan's expression and eyes as he examined the two documents, as well as the movements of his body parts!

Tong Huahan's expression was normal; his pupils were slightly dilated and his eyelids were slightly upturned, indicating surprise and confusion. Then, his expression instantly returned to normal.

Ning Zhiheng nodded to himself, more puzzled than fearful. It seemed they could continue the discussion!

"Mr. Tong, what are your views on the Japanese?" Ning Zhiheng asked directly.

“Of course it’s bad. The Japanese have invaded and occupied our three northeastern provinces and are now entrenched in Shanghai. Their ambitions are obvious. They will be our country’s greatest enemy,” Tong Huahan said without hesitation.

His tone was natural, and his eyes met Ning Zhiheng's piercing gaze directly without flinching!

"It seems Mr. Tong is also a patriot. Today our topic is also related to the Japanese. I hope Mr. Tong will speak freely!"

"Of course, Team Leader Ning, please speak frankly. I will never dare to lie about anything I know!"

Ning Zhiheng asked a few more questions indirectly, but Tong Huahan remained calm. After observing him carefully for a long time, Ning Zhiheng finally confirmed that there was no problem with his identity. It seemed that the problem lay with the other two people!

"Mr. Tong, I won't beat around the bush. Let's get straight to the point. I'm here to ask you for a favor." Ning Zhiheng decided to lay his cards on the table and have an open and honest discussion!
