When Ning Zhiheng saw that it was Gu Zhengqi and Yu Cheng, he felt another headache coming on. He had only been back at the Military Intelligence Investigation Department for less than twenty minutes, and hadn't even gone back to his office yet, but the intelligence department had already caught wind of him. It must be that guy Yu Cheng again. He was like a ghost, always watching him. It was so annoying!
Yu Cheng looked at Ning Zhiheng with a resentful expression. He had only gone to report to the section chief when Ning Zhiheng had already made another move.
If it weren't for the intelligence officers on a search mission in the city calling back to say that the operations team was gathering and evacuating, indicating a major operation was imminent, I probably wouldn't even know!
The intelligence officer who had been keeping watch at the door returned and reported that Ning Zhiheng had brought back another prisoner while he was out. He was carried back lying on a door panel, and his appearance was somewhat similar to Gu Wenshi, the main target this time.
Upon hearing the report, Yu Cheng was filled with remorse. Section Chief Gu had repeatedly instructed him to keep a close eye on Ning Zhiheng, saying that the progress of the case would inevitably depend on Ning Zhiheng.
However, due to unforeseen circumstances, he missed two opportunities. As a result, he missed the chance to arrest Geng Boming and Gu Wenshi. Otherwise, he could have gotten involved and made some money!
Ning Zhiheng is too cunning. I knew he wasn't easy to deal with, but I still kept missing opportunities!
He simply reported it to Gu Zhengqi, who, upon hearing that Gu Wenshi might be captured, could no longer remain seated.
Gu Wenshi carries a heavy responsibility. He is the key to whether the Military Intelligence Investigation Department can once again deal a heavy blow to the Japanese spy organization, and he is the hope for the Intelligence Section to pass this test smoothly!
In the past few days, Gu Zhengqi had sent everyone in the intelligence department out to search for clues all over the world, but he had found nothing in his haste. Just when he was getting anxious, he heard Yu Cheng's report and couldn't sit still any longer. He immediately rushed over in person!
"Zhiheng! Has Gu Wenshi been brought to justice? You're too quick! If there's any news, you can at least let us, the intelligence department, know! The director has repeatedly emphasized that this is a joint case, and it's not fair of you to keep things hidden like this!" Gu Zhengqi complained as soon as they met.
He dared not complain to Zhao Ziliang, but he could still say a few more words to Ning Zhiheng.
Ning Zhiheng felt helpless when he heard Gu Zhengqi's words. Gu Zhengqi's status was far above his own, and the two had gotten along well before. When Gu Zhengqi complained a few times, he could only listen and dared not utter a word in rebuttal!
At this moment, Yu Cheng had already stepped forward and carefully examined the prisoner lying on the hospital bed. Gu Wenshi had already woken up by this time, but he kept his eyes tightly closed and pretended to be dead.
After confirming that it was indeed Gu Wenshi, Yu Cheng turned around and said with delight, "Section Chief, it really is Gu Wenshi! Truly, the net of justice is vast and its meshes are wide, yet nothing escapes it!"
Upon hearing this, Gu Zhengqi felt relieved and said happily, "Zhiheng, is Gu Wenshi's injury a problem? Interrogate him immediately and get his confession as soon as possible!"
Ning Zhiheng glanced at Gu Zhengqi, then turned to look at Gu Wenshi, and said with difficulty, "Section Chief Gu, I have already reported this to our section chief, and he will be here soon. Please discuss these matters with our section chief. I will follow orders completely!"
At this point, he looked at Gu Wenshi, who was pretending to be dead on the hospital bed, and said in a sinister tone, "As for Gu Wenshi's injuries, I don't think it's a big problem. Anyway, he'll still get injured during the interrogation. I don't believe he's not afraid of death. After a round of torture, his skin and flesh will be stripped off. He'll have a hard time dying even if he wants to!"
The ruthlessness in his words made Gu Wenshi, who was pretending to be dead, tremble. He knew that with his physical condition, it was impossible for him to withstand those severe tortures. If he didn't speak, he would die from the torture. But if he spoke, would he be able to live?
At this moment, the door to the medical room opened again, and Zhao Ziliang and Xiang Yan also rushed over. The doctor on duty was a little apprehensive when he saw all the big shots from the Military Intelligence Investigation Department gathered in his small medical room. This was something that had never happened before!
"Old Gu, what are you doing here?" Zhao Ziliang asked in surprise when he saw Gu Zhengqi and Yu Cheng. However, he immediately remembered what Ning Zhiheng had said. Gu Zhengqi had sent Yu Cheng to keep an eye on him at all times. It seemed that they were watching him again!
Gu Zhengqi laughed heartily and, turning to Zhao Ziliang, launched into another speech: "Old Zhao, I really admire you guys! You're so fast! In the blink of an eye, you've caught Geng Boming and Gu Wenshi! Look, shouldn't we report to the section chief immediately, get Gu Wenshi's confession as soon as possible, and determine our next steps?"
Zhao Ziliang nodded. This time, he genuinely intended to cooperate with the intelligence department. He stepped forward to look at Gu Wenshi, then turned to the on-duty doctor and asked, "Is he fit for interrogation?"
When the on-duty doctor heard Zhao Ziliang's question, he was at a loss for words. Under normal circumstances, he would definitely say no, because given the patient's injuries, the chances of him surviving if he went into the interrogation room were slim.
But judging from the tone of these bigwigs, they all wanted to start the interrogation immediately. Why should he play the villain? This criminal wasn't even theirs!
"Interrogation is still possible, but we can't use too much torture, otherwise there's still a risk to their life!" the on-duty doctor replied cautiously. This was essentially saying nothing; even a lively person could die from excessive torture!
Just then, the office phone rang. The doctor on duty quickly picked it up, and after hearing one sentence, he felt as if he had been electrocuted. He hurriedly handed the phone to Zhao Ziliang.
