Chapter 254 Respectfully

Ning Zhiheng doesn't always treat people coldly; he considers their status, position, and how close or distant they are to him.

He naturally greeted the lieutenant colonel station chief of the Hangzhou Military Intelligence Station with a smile, saying, "Zhiheng returned to his hometown to handle some personal matters and did not intend to disturb you all. I did not expect Station Chief Liu to come to pick me up in person. I am truly humbled!"

"Of course!" Liu Tongfang released Ning Zhiheng's hand, then gestured to the officers beside him and introduced, "Wan Yuanzhi, deputy stationmaster of Hangzhou Station."

"Chief of the Intelligence Department, Yuan Sibo!"

"Action Team Leader Quan Yulong!"

"Lu Jingyi, the head of the General Affairs Department!"

Ning Zhiheng greeted and shook hands with them one by one. These were all major-level officers. All the main officers of the Hangzhou Military Intelligence Station were present, which was quite a high level of welcome.

Ning Zhiheng was immediately puzzled. If Zhao Ziliang had simply informed Liu Tongfang and asked him to take care of Ning Zhiheng's activities in Hangzhou, there would have been no need for such a grand and enthusiastic welcome. There must be another reason behind it.

Pang Xiu, who was at the very back of the group, didn't dare to say a word because the team members around him were all giving him the cold shoulder. But he didn't dare to run away, so he could only follow cautiously.

As a result, he witnessed this scene. Seeing the officers shaking hands with Ning Zhiheng and showing ingratiating smiles, he was astonished. He sensed something was wrong, as if the young man who had recruited him was of extraordinary status. At this moment, his desire to escape faded considerably for some reason. Perhaps this really was his chance!

Just then, two young women dressed in beautiful clothes were looking around carefully on the platform when they suddenly spotted a slender figure in the crowd. They quickly called out to her and hurried over to meet her.

"Duanjing, why did it take you so long to get off the bus? We've been waiting for ages, thinking you hadn't gotten on! We were so worried!" Shi Sihan and Ning Caiwei couldn't help but complain when they saw their classmates and friends.

"Don't even mention it, I was terrified on this trip. There was a really fierce group of people in our carriage, all thugs with guns. They just threw people off the train if they didn't like them. It scared me to death, I was too scared to get off the train until they left," Cui Duanjing said, patting her chest with lingering fear.

"There are such vicious guys? Are you alright? They're not soldiers, are they?" Ning Caiwei asked in surprise.

“No, they all wore Zhongshan suits. They claimed to be government officials, but every official carries a gun. This world is getting more and more chaotic! I dare not go out alone anymore,” Cui Duanjing said.

The three companions walked outside while talking, and they saw Ning Zhiheng and Liu Tongfang's two teams chatting amicably not far away, surrounded by many armed soldiers.

"Look, that's the group up ahead. They really are soldiers!" Cui Duanjing whispered to her two friends as she saw a group of officers greeting the group of thugs.

Ning Caiwei and Shi Sihan glanced over and saw Ning Zhiheng shaking hands and chatting amiably with several officers.

When Ning Caiwei saw Ning Zhiheng's face, she was immediately stunned! This looks like her younger brother Zhiheng? No, that's not right. Although this person looks very similar and is also very young, he has a calm demeanor and graceful manners. He chatted and laughed freely in front of several officers and looked much older than her younger brother.

And it was obvious that the officers all wore obsequious smiles, subtly indicating that they regarded him as their leader. My third uncle's younger brother was just a recent graduate; when I saw him six months ago, he was that taciturn young man. How could it be him? But he really did look like him!

“That person looks a lot like my younger brother. Are there really people in this world who look so alike?” Ning Caiwei whispered to her two friends.

"Your brother? Don't be silly! This person is their leader, and he's very fierce! He broke a young man's wrist with his own hands and had him thrown off the train. We don't even know if he's alive or dead!" Cui Duanjing said, pursing her lips and glaring.

Just as they were whispering among themselves, Ning Zhiheng and his group finished their introductions and greetings and walked out of the station together. Immediately, a group of armed soldiers cleared the way, roughly pushing aside some chaotic passengers and quickly clearing a passage. Ning Zhiheng walked out of the train station surrounded by officers.

Many cars were already parked outside the train station, and people immediately came up to greet Ning Zhiheng and his group upon seeing them.

Liu Tongfang pointed to the cars behind him and said with a smile, "These five cars behind are ones I specially chose for you, Zhiheng. They are all brand new cars that were just confiscated. They will be convenient for you and your men to use when you are in Hangzhou!"

Ning Zhiheng nodded inwardly. Liu Tongfang had done a great job, thinking things through in every way. Such thoughtfulness was truly rare. He would indeed need some means of transportation in Hangzhou in the future.

"Haha, Station Chief Liu is so thoughtful, then I'll accept your offer without hesitation!" Ning Zhiheng said readily.

However, such excessive hospitality might have another reason. Although he was the head of the action team at the Nanjing headquarters, his rank was only equivalent to Liu Tongfang's. Even with Zhao Ziliang's influence, Liu Tongfang shouldn't have treated him like this.

"I've booked a grand banquet at Baiweizhai to welcome you, Zhiheng. The timing is perfect, please come in!" Liu Tongfang gestured for Ning Zhiheng to get into the car.

Ning Zhiheng really didn't want to have too much contact with Liu Tongfang at this time. Although he came back this time to balance public and private matters, he still didn't want too many people to know. Liu Tongfang's big fuss was really contrary to his original intention.
