Ning Zhiheng spoke with Wei Liangbi for a few more minutes. Since he still had to report to the director, the two parted ways and left. Ning Zhiheng took the document bag and went directly to the director's office to request an audience.
When Secretary Liu saw that it was Ning Zhiheng who was requesting an audience, he smiled and said, "Team Leader Ning, please wait a moment. The Director is available right now, and I will report to him immediately."
Ning Zhiheng quickly nodded and agreed. Soon, Secretary Liu invited him in. As soon as he entered the office, he saw the director sitting in his seat.
Seeing Ning Zhiheng enter, the section chief laughed heartily, stood up, walked over to Ning Zhiheng, and said, "I was just thinking about you these past two days, and sure enough, you rushed back."
Ning Zhiheng quickly stood at attention and saluted, saying, "Reporting to the Chief, I have come to report to you."
Upon hearing the words "reporting back," the sergeant's eyes lit up, and he quickly asked, "So the mission is complete?"
Ning Zhiheng nodded and replied affirmatively, "Reporting to the Chief, the mission is complete. I infiltrated the Japanese consulate the night before last and personally saw him off. I have confirmed that he is dead."
"You did it yourself?" the sergeant asked in surprise. He hadn't expected Ning Zhiheng to risk his life to infiltrate the Japanese consulate. A murderous glint flashed in his eyes. "Didn't the Hangzhou station cooperate? Liu Tongfang is really courting death. You had my warrant, and he still dared to obstruct and shirk responsibility?"
In the Chief's mind, the mission of assassinating Kawamoto Kuraji was not intended for Ning Zhiheng to do the work himself. What he wanted was for Ning Zhiheng to use his intellect to direct and formulate a detailed and meticulous operation.
Ning Zhiheng has plenty of skilled operators under his command, and with the addition of the action team in the Hangzhou Military Intelligence Station, there's no way to let Ning Zhiheng, the commander, personally take the lead, unless Liu Tongfang, the station chief of Hangzhou Station, is simply standing by and watching Ning Zhiheng have no one else to rely on, which would be why he would personally take the risk.
So when they heard that Ning Zhiheng had personally taken charge, they were immediately shocked. It would be such a pity if Ning Zhiheng, an extremely outstanding commander, were to perish on the front line of the most dangerous operation.
Ning Zhiheng sensed the murderous intent in the sergeant's tone and realized he had misunderstood. He quickly explained, "Station Chief Liu has always been very cooperative with my operations. He did most of the preliminary preparations. It's just that when it came to actually carrying out the mission, I didn't trust anyone else to do it and insisted on doing it myself. That's why Station Chief Liu reluctantly agreed!"
Ning Zhiheng's words softened the section chief's expression. He nodded, turned around, and walked back to his seat, gesturing for Ning Zhiheng to sit down as well.
Then he spoke up, saying, "Zhiheng, you're being too reckless. I reminded you last time we captured Gu Wenshi that as an excellent commander, your task isn't to be on the front lines, but to assess the situation and make the most correct judgments and decisions based on the circumstances."
He sighed softly and continued, "You're still too young. You don't know what fear is. It's good to be driven, but pushing yourself too hard can easily lead to trouble. Do you understand?"
His tone was full of admonition and care. He had high hopes for Ning Zhiheng and had assigned him this assassination mission to train him. But if he really wore him down, it would go against his original intention.
Ning Zhiheng lowered his head slightly and bowed slightly, saying sincerely, "Thank you for your concern, Director. I was indeed a bit reckless. I will definitely be more careful in the future."
"You said the same thing last time, but what happened in the end? Oh well, you have to learn your lesson after suffering a loss." The commander couldn't help but say with a bit of annoyance. His subordinate was exceptionally talented, but things had gone too smoothly for him. Since his debut, he had been invincible, which had led to his youthful arrogance and disdain for others. He was even capable of personally entering the heavily guarded Japanese consulate to carry out an assassination. From a commander's perspective, it was indeed audacious and reckless.
He didn't know that, given Ning Zhiheng's personality, if it weren't for Kawamoto Kuraji's special identity and the top-secret information in his mind, why would he personally risk taking action?
"Give me a detailed report on the implementation process, the more detailed the better!" the section chief said. He also wanted to know how Ning Zhiheng had completed the mission. He was worried that although Kawamoto Kuraji was dead, the cleanup was not thorough. If the Japanese noticed the problem, then the mission could not be considered completed.
"Yes!" Ning Zhiheng replied respectfully.
Ning Zhiheng then recounted the details of the operation to the director in detail, from investigating the consulate to testing Kawamoto Kuraji at Jing Shizhai and stealing the key, to finally borrowing a purchasing vehicle to risk entering the consulate, ambushing Kawamoto Kuraji in his room, and then suddenly subduing him while he was fast asleep in the middle of the night, injecting him with potassium chloride to induce a heart attack, witnessing Kawamoto Kuraji's death with his own eyes, and then safely evacuating along the same route.
Ning Zhiheng explained each step of the process in great detail, narrating it for a full hour.
During the narration, Bian Ze, the deputy head of the intelligence section, who had heard that Ning Zhiheng had returned, also rushed over to see him. He and the section chief listened attentively to Ning Zhiheng's work report.
The entire operation was perfectly designed and meticulously planned. Every step was calculated with absolute precision, not a single detail was off. The operation to enter the Japanese consulate was especially impressive, leaving the Chief and Bian Ze in awe and full of praise!
Hearing the last part, the section chief couldn't help but slam his hand on the table and shout, "Well done! Zhiheng, this operation was absolutely perfect. The Japanese would never have imagined that we would infiltrate their lair and take Kawamoto Kuraji's life so directly. Also, the method of using potassium chloride injection was excellent. Was it Dr. Mu who came up with that idea?"
