Abe Emi helped Ning Zhiheng to sit down in the waiting room, then poured him a cup of hot water and watched him drink it little by little.
"Fujiwara-kun, are you feeling better?" Abe Emi asked.
"Thank you, Emi, I feel much better!" Ning Zhiheng said gratefully.
With Ning Zhiheng's deliberate approach, the two quickly became acquainted. Soon, Abe Emi and Ning Zhiheng were talking about everything. She was completely unaware that Ning Zhiheng was gradually steering the conversation toward topics that interested him.
"Huimei, is being a nurse very hard? You have to take care of all kinds of patients every day, especially in surgery, where there are often head injuries and bleeding. I feel dizzy and uncomfortable whenever I see blood. Aren't you afraid, you're a girl?" Ning Zhiheng asked.
Emi Abe nodded and said, "At first, I was a little scared when I saw blood, but as I saw it more often, I gradually got used to it!"
Ning Zhiheng asked again, "If you encountered a patient covered in blood, wouldn't you be afraid? Especially late at night, just think about it in a hospital ward..."
Hearing Ning Zhiheng's horrifying description, Abe Emi was also startled. She lowered her voice and said, "Don't scare me! You know, the night before last, around 7 p.m., a patient covered in blood was brought to our department. There were only two of us on duty at the time. The sight of him lying in the middle of the corridor covered in blood was really creepy. Fortunately, the patient needed immediate surgery, and later our department's doctors and nurses all rushed over."
Ning Zhiheng's heart skipped a beat. Around 7 p.m. the night before last? According to Ji Hongyi's account, the ambulance left at 7 p.m. the night before last and rushed to Boli Hospital. That time matches up perfectly!
"With such severe injuries, can this person be saved?" Ning Zhiheng asked with a curious expression.
Emi Abe nodded and said affirmatively, "Fortunately, this person is lucky. No vital organs were damaged. It took two hours to get him out of the operating room. He survived, but his injuries are severe and will require a long time to heal."
That bastard actually survived! I'm so disappointed. I was hoping Yu Li would die from his injuries, which would save everyone trouble and save me the risk of assassination.
But this guy is really tough. Yu Li is the main target. Even if the other two are spared, Yu Li must die.
Just as Ning Zhiheng was about to ask more questions, he saw a female nurse peek in from outside the waiting room: "Huimei, what are you doing here? A patient has arrived, and we're a bit overwhelmed."
After saying that, he looked at Ning Zhiheng and joked with a smile, "Fujiwara-kun will be coming to change his dressing tomorrow, you two can talk then!"
Hearing her companion's teasing, Abe Emi blushed and said nothing. She simply bowed to Ning Zhiheng to say goodbye before getting up and pulling her companion away at a jog.
Ning Zhiheng couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. He was still thinking of finding out the specific situation, at least to know the ward number where Yu Li was hospitalized.
He got up and left the waiting room, walking slowly into the depths of the department. Soon he turned a corner and saw a corridor entrance next to him with the words "Treatment Department" written on it. This should be where inpatient treatment is conducted.
Just then, two burly men in suits came out. Ning Zhiheng reacted quickly, and without stopping, walked straight forward through the corridor and left the stairwell.
The two men glanced at Ning Zhiheng's retreating figure, noticed nothing amiss, and said nothing more before quickly leaving.
Ning Zhiheng walked through a corridor for a while, then turned at a fork in the road and walked back to the treatment room.
Those two burly men weren't wearing white work uniforms, so they definitely weren't hospital staff. What were they doing in the treatment department?
Ning Zhiheng passed by the entrance to the treatment department again. From a distance, he glanced at the two young men in suits out of the corner of his eye and saw them standing at the door of a ward at the end of the corridor.
Ning Zhiheng secretly memorized the location of the ward and continued forward, leaving the treatment department.
Ning Zhiheng returned to his residence at noon and had lunch at Yoshimura Yuta's house. The Yoshimura family was very concerned about the scratch on Ning Zhiheng's arm.
Kumiko was particularly nervous. Only after Ning Zhiheng repeatedly explained that it was just a superficial injury and would heal quickly did she stop talking, though she still looked very worried.
This left Yoshimura Masakazu quite helpless. As an older brother, it was very infuriating to see his younger sister showing such concern for another man.
In fact, Ning Zhiheng had seen through the Yoshimura family's intentions, especially Kumiko, who probably already had a crush on him. However, Ning Zhiheng remained unmoved, which was why he always kept his distance from Kumiko.
He knew that the next ten years or so would be the most chaotic and turbulent period in modern Chinese history, and that he was constantly walking in darkness, with danger and murderous intent always by his side. He could hardly protect himself, so how could he protect his lover? Therefore, he was unwilling to find a partner in this chaotic world. Besides, Kumiko was a Japanese woman, and he could never accept her.
Once he completes his mission in a few days, he will immediately leave. Naturally, he will never see the Yoshimura family again, and he may never see them again in this lifetime!
In the afternoon, he went to work at the Nanwu Bookstore as usual. Kuroki Yue was very concerned about Ning Zhiheng's injury. He was relieved after confirming that there was nothing wrong with the wound and told him not to work too hard and that he could take his time organizing the manuscript.
Ning Zhiheng readily agreed, but still hurried to finish the manuscript, completely unaffected by the situation.
