Chapter 391 Unforgivable

Ning Zhiheng watched the raging fire burn relentlessly, the intense heat still palpable even from such a distance.

The fire continued to burn for more than an hour before slowly going out. Everyone watched as the lush reed-covered lawn was turned into a black, empty space, with nothing left.

White dust drifted in the air, blown by the north wind into the distant sky. Ning Zhiheng then ordered, "Let's go and see if there's anything left."

Huo Yueze and the others shook their heads. Such a fire would deform even an iron block, and probably nothing would be left.

All the team members followed into the grassy area, which was already quite large, and now it looked even more spacious.

In the center of the lawn, countless corpses lay piled up, all burned beyond recognition. The crackling sound of charred wood could still be heard from the ground from time to time. Many guns had been burned into iron bars and were scattered everywhere.

Seeing this scene, Ning Zhiheng knew that the operation had been a great success. He said with a relaxed expression, "This operation has been a complete success. However, everything here has been burned to ashes, and the battlefield cannot be cleaned up! Let's call it a day!"

As soon as Ning Zhiheng gave the order, everyone responded and obeyed. This time, without losing a single soldier or even firing many bullets, they easily dealt with a Japanese plainclothes team of more than 140 men. It must be said that Ning Zhiheng's tactic was ruthless, but it was indeed very effective.

"Captain!"

At this moment, Song Han and Man Gaoge, who had rushed over from the opposite position, also arrived.

Ning Zhiheng looked at them and asked with a smile, "How was it? Did you manage to pick a few ducks to beat up? How did it feel to kick a dog when it's down?"

Man Gaoge was naturally in a good mood and replied with a smile, "This feels great, but there wasn't enough time. I didn't get enough fun!"

Song Han, standing to the side, hesitated for a moment before saying, "Captain, we've run into some problems over there; a few of them might have escaped."

"What? How many escaped?" Ning Zhiheng's face immediately turned cold. He was very strict with his subordinates and disliked anyone shirking responsibility and missing opportunities.

"Surrounded and trapped in a desperate situation, how could they have escaped? How many of them managed to get away?" Ning Zhiheng pressed for details.

Seeing Ning Zhiheng's unfriendly expression, Man Gaoge quickly tried to speak up for Song Han, but Ning Zhiheng coldly stopped her: "Let him say it himself!"

After speaking, he turned and stared at Song Han, his gaze so cold that no one dared to say a word.

Song Han had long known of Ning Zhiheng's infamous reputation and knew that it was difficult to talk to such a direct superior, but today he truly felt Ning Zhiheng's intimidating aura.

He forced himself to explain the situation, and Ning Zhiheng's expression finally softened. In the end, he still didn't have a clear understanding of the power of the fire. Not only Song Han, but he himself was also initially flustered, so it couldn't be entirely Song Han's fault.

"Alright, since there's a reason for this, I won't be too demanding. How many did you catch?" Ning Zhiheng asked.

"Seven!" Song Han quickly replied. Ning Zhiheng had put too much pressure on him just now, but he had finally gotten through that hurdle. "I brought them all with me!"

Ning Zhiheng gritted his teeth, the murderous intent in his eyes drawing the attention of everyone present. He spoke in a sinister tone, "Perfect timing. Their companions are all in the grassy pond. Let's send them on their way!"

Upon hearing this, everyone understood what he meant. Song Han quickly waved his hand behind him, and the action team members pushed and shoved the seven Japanese plainclothes team members in front of Ning Zhiheng.

These people were dressed in tattered clothes, soaking wet, with many burns and cuts on their exposed skin. Their eyes showed fear, anger, and tension.

The team members lined them up and hit them on the back of the knees with the butt of their rifles, causing them to kneel down immediately.

Ning Zhiheng walked forward slowly, looking at them coldly, and said slowly in Japanese: "You are soldiers, but instead of defending your own homeland, you came to China, occupied our land, plundered our people, and slaughtered our soldiers. You do not deserve our forgiveness!"

After he finished speaking, he waved his hand, and the team members immediately drew their pistols and pointed them at the back of the heads of the seven plainclothes officers, waiting for Ning Zhiheng's order.

Ning Zhiheng's words immediately turned the faces of the seven plainclothes officers pale. They hadn't expected Ning Zhiheng to kill them so decisively. It wasn't until a pistol was pressed against the back of their heads that their bodies stiffened, waiting for the final moment.

"Don't kill me, don't kill me! I'm a codebreaker, I have what you need. Let me go, I want to go home, let me go!" Suddenly, a plainclothes officer shouted, his eyes filled with fear of death, and he took two steps forward towards Ning Zhiheng, kneeling on the ground.

"Baka!"

"Yasuda, what are you saying!"

The other plainclothes officers immediately glared at him angrily, and one of them even tried to get up and pounce on him.

A gunshot rang out, blood spurted out, and he fell to the ground, motionless.

Seeing this, Yasuda Seiji was terrified. He crawled to Ning Zhiheng and quickly said, "Sir, I'm a codebreaker. Please don't kill me! I can tell you a lot of valuable information! It's true!"

He was speaking in Japanese, and the others couldn't understand him at all, but they could get the gist of it: this Japanese plainclothes officer was about to surrender.

They were all waiting for Ning Zhiheng's attitude. Ning Zhiheng slowly lowered his head, looked carefully into Yasuda Seiji's eyes, and finally nodded, saying in Japanese, "I hope your performance will satisfy me, otherwise you will end up like them."
