Nakajima Yukichi's plan did not go as expected. He acted a little later than Iwai Nosuke and was then spotted by the intelligence agents who rushed up after him. These agents were all elites with extremely agile skills.
Seeing that Iwai nosuke and Nakajima Ukichi had climbed the wall and were trying to escape the narrow street and the ambush, several other figures quickly followed suit and nimbly scaled the wall.
Just as Nakajima Yukichi stepped onto the roof, he was shot in the leg. He lost all strength in his leg, tilted to one side, and fell off the roof. Almost the instant the gunshot rang out, several intelligence officers rushed to him, tackled him, and restrained his hands and feet, rendering him immobile in no time.
Iwai nosuke acted quickly. He realized his mistake in time and did not enter the best ambush position. He jumped off the car immediately, which gave him some time to react. When he climbed onto the roof of the slum, he was discovered by the operatives. The four operatives did not hesitate for a moment and raised their guns to fire.
Iwai nosuke's reaction was astonishingly fast. He shrank back and flipped over on the roof, causing several bullets to miss. As he stood up, he drew his pistol and fired a shot that accurately hit an intelligence officer, causing the officer to tilt and slide off the roof.
However, he soon regretted the shot, because in that brief moment, he was hit in the shoulder and felt a heavy push, and half of his body almost lost sensation.
Iwai nosuke was terrified, surrounded and wounded by gunshot. If he hesitated even a little longer, he would surely die.
He endured the excruciating pain, rolled over, slid to the other side of the roof, and landed on the ground like a ball, thus escaping that deadly street.
He mustered all his strength and ran quickly into the darkness, trying to escape under the cover of night, but his teammates were in hot pursuit.
Although the operation was forced to proceed ahead of schedule due to unforeseen circumstances, resulting in one person escaping, the team members refused to give up. Team leader Zuo Qiang's order was to capture them all without letting a single one escape.
At this moment, Rong Hao and his group, who had already crossed the street, heard gunshots behind them. The two bodyguards were immediately alarmed, holding their guns and nervously looking back.
"Ignore them, let's go back to the dance hall!" Rong Hao calmly and composedly gave the order.
Seeing their boss's calm demeanor, everyone knew that the gunshots behind them were probably related to him, and that someone had been set up without their knowledge. So, they relaxed, and the car sped away.
Having escaped the ambush, Iwai nosuke was now as desperate as a dog with its tail between its legs. His pursuers were determined to kill him, and he no longer cared which way to go. He dared not run through brightly lit streets, as that would only make him an easy target. In short, he ran wherever it was dark. However, the pursuers behind him were also experienced veterans, and no matter how he hid, they always managed to catch up with him.
Iwai nosuke didn't even dare to fire again, for fear of revealing his presence. His current goal was to escape, not to kill. He knew that if he lingered even slightly and exposed himself, these powerful assassins could easily take his life.
But the pursuers were getting closer and closer, and Iwai nosuke was bleeding profusely. He felt his strength waning and his steps becoming increasingly unsteady. A sense of despair rose in his heart. Intelligence agents cannot afford to make mistakes. One mistake is enough to kill someone. This time, he had been led into a trap and it seemed that there was no way to escape.
Just then, his foot suddenly slipped and he fell to the ground. It turned out that he had stepped on a sewer opening, and the sewer cover was empty, probably due to years of disrepair.
In the darkness, Iwai nosuke was completely unaware that he had suddenly sunk down, stumbling and falling to the bottom. His face and hands were covered in blood, but he endured it with great willpower, not daring to make a sound, and lay quietly at the bottom, trying to evade the pursuers' search.
Several team members followed behind, listening for the footsteps ahead, but suddenly there was no sound, and everything was quiet, which made the team members a little strange.
"Two people per group, take turns providing cover, and search the area. This person has been shot, so he can't possibly be as fast as us. He must be hiding nearby. The team leader's orders are that we can't let anyone slip by. Everyone be careful!" the leading action team leader commanded.
"Yes!" The team members quickly took their positions and searched the surrounding area in selected directions.
"He has blood on him. Whoever has a flashlight, shine it on him and see where he went by looking at the bloodstains on the ground!" the action team leader then ordered.
However, none of them had brought flashlights when they went to carry out the operation. So one of the team members agreed and went back to get a flashlight from his companion, while the rest of them continued to search the vicinity. If they didn't catch this escaped fish, he would eventually become a troublemaker.
At this moment, Nakajima Ukichi was also brought before Zuo Qiang.
"Team leader, we've caught this one alive. The other one reacted too quickly and ran off from the roof. Our men have already given chase!" an action team member reported.
Zuo Qiang frowned as he looked at Nakajima Yukichi. This arrest operation was not going as well as he had hoped. The original plan had failed, and the other party had reacted immediately upon falling into the trap, which caused loopholes in the operation. Most importantly, Section Chief Huo Yueze's requirement was that no one should be let go. Once captured alive, they must be interrogated thoroughly to find their hiding place and eliminate them completely.
