Chapter 615 Falling into a Trap

At Jiang Guotao's command, the team members, who had been preparing for a long time, boarded several trucks and drove straight to the library building.

Dashun Warehouse is only three kilometers away from the library building, which is just a few minutes' walk away.

The special operations team members had previously practiced their assigned tasks multiple times and were clear about their attack positions. The two trucks in front were loaded with a large amount of TNT explosives.

They would ram the gate immediately, approach the library building's walls as quickly as possible, and then blow it up.

The following trucks, carrying other attacking personnel, would launch a sustained and rapid offensive to complete the mission before the Japanese could react.

The vehicles were moving quickly, the attack route had already been scouted, and everything was proceeding smoothly according to plan.

However, they did not expect that just as they drove out of South Fourth Street, Taro Sagawa had already received a report from the surveillance personnel.

The endless darkness ahead was like a demon, opening its bloody maw and silently waiting for its prey to come to its door.

The two vehicles, now a certain distance apart, reached their attack positions and, without a moment's hesitation, immediately accelerated and sped towards the outer gate of the library building.

According to their previous investigation, the outer gate was just a sheet metal gate. They knew that this kind of gate was not sturdy and could be broken open with a strong impact from a truck.

However, things did not go as smoothly as they had imagined. When the first truck crashed heavily into the gate, it was as if the entire truck had hit a solid stone wall. The strong impact deformed the entire front of the truck, and the sound of metal scraping and tearing could be heard.

The sudden stop of the vehicle caused the driver and the people in the back compartment who were preparing to detonate to fly into the air due to the enormous inertia and impact.

The driver was thrown directly by the inertia and swerved towards the windshield of the car in front, smashing through the glass and being thrown out of the car. He crashed heavily into the iron gate and then fell to the ground.

The first impact, although it broke through the outer gate, did not allow the vehicle to move forward an inch.

This sudden turn of events startled the truck driver behind, who quickly swerved to avoid the first truck and continued hurtling towards the gate, crashing into it once more.

But the same scene repeated itself. Although the iron gate had been broken open, a pile of sturdy sandbags was revealed behind it.

It turned out that the entire gate had been firmly blocked off at the back. Sagawa Taro was so careful in setting up the trap that he dared not let the enemy get close to the library building. So as soon as it got dark, he piled up enough sandbags behind the gate as a protective wall, which has now come in handy.

The attack was thwarted, which surprised Jiang Guotao, who was sitting in the driver's seat of the third truck. The impact of the two trucks failed to break through the iron gate, which was completely unexpected.

But this attack was a one-way street, and he would never give up because of an unexpected setback. Even though there was an abyss ahead, he was determined to jump in.

He pushed open the car door and jumped out, shouting, "Charge! Break in! Open the gate!"

But the moment he gave the order, in an instant, as if a demon of the night had suddenly opened its eyes, countless searchlights lit up in the pitch-black night. The bright, dazzling lights were concentrated at the entrance of the compound, instantly illuminating the area as if it were daytime.

The sudden burst of bright light blinded all the attacking team members, causing them to experience temporary blindness.

Just as the lights came on, a huge roar reached everyone's ears. Countless tongues of fire spewed out from the darkness, and a dense barrage of bullets came from all directions, attacking all the special operations team members like a storm.

The team members had not yet recovered from their brief blindness, let alone launched an attack. They hadn't even had time to jump out of the vehicle when they were hit by the storm of attacks, screaming in agony. Blood splattered everywhere, and the casualties were extremely heavy.

Taro Sagawa mobilized all the Special Higher Police personnel, equipped them with powerful firepower such as machine guns and grenades, and inflicted heavy casualties on the operatives at the very beginning of the attack.

Jiang Guotao, who was in charge, was the primary target. He only had time to shout one sentence before he was hit repeatedly. Countless bullets pierced his body, and he fell backward helplessly, dying on the spot.

Deputy Battalion Commander Guo Yuande already knew what had happened. He had already been hit by several bullets and knew he was unlikely to survive. With all his might, he shouted, "It's a trap! Run!"

However, all the truck cabs were riddled with holes by enemy machine gun fire in the first instance, and all the drivers were killed.

The remaining team members who were lucky enough to escape unharmed jumped off the vehicle when they saw that it was immobile, and prepared to break through back the way they came.

Unfortunately, he was surrounded by enemies several times his size, and his body was completely exposed to their guns. How could he possibly escape?

A barrage of bullets enveloped the area, and all the team members who jumped out of the vehicle were hit by bullets, collapsing in pools of blood after only a few steps.

The machine gun fire continued relentlessly, the gunfire echoing through the night, until not a single soldier remained standing. Only then did Taro Sagawa order a ceasefire, and the surroundings finally fell silent.

These hundred special operations team members were tragically killed in a bloody massacre before they could even fire a single shot. They were all wiped out and died heroically for their country!

Meanwhile, a group of figures emerged from the darkness at a bay not far from the east side of Baidu Bridge on the north bank of the Suzhou Creek.
