In the early hours of that night, while everyone was fast asleep, Huo Yueze, who had been waiting for a long time, was explaining the situation to Zuo Qiang outside a villa in the French Concession.
"The owner of this villa is a Zhejiang businessman named Fang Xu. There are twelve people in total, including servants and guards. We cannot confirm which ones are Japanese spies. This time, we need to interrogate them to obtain some important information, so when we take action, unless necessary, try to leave them alive and avoid accidentally eliminating the key figures. Do you understand?"
Zuo Qiang turned around and agreed, "Don't worry, I'll personally lead the team in!"
Huo Yueze then turned to Deng Zhihong and instructed, "Your men should guard the perimeter. No one inside should be allowed to escape."
Deng Zhihong nodded in agreement. Huo Yueze attached great importance to this arrest, mobilizing all the intelligence personnel in the concession and personally overseeing the operation. Since it concerned the safety of the smuggling channels, he could not afford to be negligent in the slightest!
Huo Yueze glanced at his watch, waved his hand, and Zuo Qiang led his men stealthily over. They arrived at the back wall of the villa, skillfully set up scaffolding, and gently sent Zuo Qiang over the wall.
The villa was inhabited by Nakajima Kota, who used the alias Fang Xu. He disguised himself as a businessman from Zhejiang who came to Shanghai to do business and opened a trading company. This cover identity allowed him to successfully evade the intelligence department's investigation and he remained safe and sound.
Kota Nakajima's brilliance lay in learning from the lessons of the other two infiltration teams. He dispersed all his members, never gathering them together, and only summoned them when necessary for the operation, acting with extreme caution.
In this villa, apart from the butler and four bodyguards who are members of the undercover team, the other servants and cooks are all hired Chinese.
The long period of peace and quiet made these Japanese spies somewhat complacent. They never expected that their presence during the day would be exposed and that someone would sneak up on their door.
Zuo Qiang and his team successfully entered the villa. His team members went to various rooms to subdue people, while he led two team members up the stairs to the third floor.
The French Concession was mostly comprised of Western-style buildings, and the master bedroom of the villas was usually located on the top floor. Kota Nakajima rested on the third floor.
After going upstairs, Zuo Qiang quickly found the door to the master bedroom after a quick look around. He gently pushed the door, only to find that the lock was locked from the inside. This simple door lock was no problem for Zuo Qiang.
Just as he was about to unlock the door, several shouts came from downstairs, followed by the muffled sound of a silencer. Zuo Qiang frowned; it seemed that his men had encountered resistance and were beginning to eliminate their target.
Just then, a noise suddenly came from the master bedroom, clearly indicating that the person inside was very alert even while sleeping and had been awakened.
Hearing shouts, Kota Nakajima jumped out of bed and pulled out a pistol from under his pillow. He rushed to the window, pulled back the curtains, and looked down, but he couldn't see anything in the pitch-black night. He had no choice but to walk quickly to the door, unlock it, and push it open.
No matter what happened, he couldn't stay in the room; he needed to find out exactly what had happened.
But just as he stepped out of the room, a heavy blow came flying through the air. Nakajima Kota was very skilled and managed to turn his body to the side in time, barely dodging the attack. The attacker's palm blade grazed the skin of his neck.
But his luck ran out. The butt of a pistol struck him hard in the face, and he felt excruciating pain. Before he could even raise his hand to fire, a heavy punch landed on his abdomen. The force of the blow made Nakajima Kota bend over. At that moment, the ambushers behind him struck again. Nakajima Kota had no chance of survival and was struck hard on the back of the neck, losing consciousness.
Zuo Qiang stepped forward, took the pistol from Nakajima Kota's hand, and searched his body again before feeling relieved. He then waved for the other team members to handcuff Nakajima Kota's hands and feet, gag him with a rag, and drag him downstairs.
The operation went relatively smoothly. Apart from the two bodyguards who were awakened and tried to resist but were shot dead on the spot by the team members, everyone else was brought under control.
