Half an hour later, Ning Zhiheng's car stopped by a street. Yu Cheng quickly walked up to him, opened the car door, and Ning Zhiheng got out.
He glanced at Yu Cheng and asked in a cold voice as he walked away, "Tell me the details of what happened."
Yu Cheng's forehead was covered in cold sweat. When he heard Ning Zhiheng ask questions, he quickly followed behind and gave a brief explanation of the situation.
It turned out that after Ning Zhiheng left the Gu family, at 6:30 pm, Gu Zhengqing also left the Gu family gate. He hailed a rickshaw and headed west to the Huaqing Hotel in Daping District. He went directly into room 202 on the north side of the second floor and stayed in the room without moving. Yu Cheng immediately set up surveillance points all around. He also rented room 208 diagonally opposite room 202 to monitor Yu Cheng from nearby.
However, as night fell, no one was seen contacting Gu Zhengqing. Yu Cheng realized something was wrong and quickly checked, only to find that Gu Zhengqing had been murdered inside the house. Yu Cheng immediately called Huang Xianzheng's house to report to Ning Zhiheng.
After a brief report, Ning Zhiheng entered the lobby of the Huaqing Hotel. All around him were members of the Military Intelligence Bureau. In the middle of the lobby, six men were squatting, all trembling with fear, their hands covering their heads, not daring to lift their heads.
Ning Zhiheng asked, "Who are these people?"
“These are the managers and service staff of Huaqing Hotel. After the incident, I detained everyone in the hotel, and the other guests are locked in their rooms to await your questioning,” Yu Cheng quickly replied.
Where is the scene?
"Second floor, I'll show you the way!"
Yu Cheng walked quickly ahead, went up the stairs to the second floor, pointed to the door of the westernmost room, and said, "This is it, room 202."
When the guards on the second floor saw Ning Zhiheng appear, their expressions tightened, and they stood upright by the corridor, not daring to utter a sound.
Ning Zhiheng arrived at the door of room 202. The door was wide open, and from the outside, the room was quite spacious, about 30 square meters. The room was fully furnished with furniture and a bed, and it was very clean. However, near the bed, there was a man's corpse lying on the floor. It was Gu Zhengqing himself.
Ning Zhiheng didn't rush inside, but instead asked Cheng, "Has the scene been secured?"
Yu Cheng quickly nodded and said, "It's protected. Only my team member and I went in to check Gu Zhengqing's injuries and found that he was already dead. We didn't touch anything else and reported to you immediately."
Ning Zhiheng nodded. He looked around the room from the doorway, carefully memorizing all the layout and furnishings before gently stepping into the room to check on Gu Zhengqing's condition.
Gu Zhengqing lay on his back, with a clear cut directly below his ribs. His clothes were soaked in blood, and there was a large pool of blood on the ground.
Ning Zhiheng frowned. He was a master of combat and a skilled wielder of a short blade. He knew this kind of injury all too well. He could tell from the location of the blade and the large amount of blood on the ground that it was a short blade that had pierced diagonally from below the ribs, just avoiding the protection of the ribs, and accurately stabbing Gu Zhengqing in the heart, killing Gu Zhengqing in a very short time.
“This is a well-trained expert!” Ning Zhiheng said in a deep voice. He stepped forward and tore open Gu Zhengqing’s shirt to examine the wound carefully. “It was an extremely sharp dagger, with a blade no more than three or four centimeters wide. The wound showed signs of widening and dragging. The opponent was very experienced. After severely injuring Gu Zhengqing, he twisted the dagger, causing him to bleed profusely and die in a very short time.”
Ning Zhiheng examined the bloodstains on the ground more closely, then turned to ask, "Did you move the body? What did the body look like when it came in?"
Upon hearing this, Yu Cheng quickly replied, "He just turned over."
With that, he tiptoed into the room, turned the body over toward the bed, and laid it face down on the floor.
“This is how we came in. I turned Gu Zhengqing over when I was checking his injuries.”
Ning Zhiheng waved his hand, and Yu Cheng, not daring to say anything more, quickly stepped aside.
Ning Zhiheng looked up and surveyed the room's furnishings. Finally, he went to the window. The curtains were closed. He reached out and pulled them open, looking out the window.
It was pitch black outside. Room 202 was a street-facing room, and you could see the street scene clearly with the help of the streetlights. There was also a large area of houses across the street, with lights on inside. You could see the shadows of people moving around in the houses across the street by the light.
The houses are all at different heights and are arranged in an alternating pattern, with many of them being much higher than this room.
Chongqing's geographical features differ from other cities. It is a typical mountain city, built on the slopes of Zhongliang Mountain and Tongluo Mountain, with uneven roads and buildings of varying heights.
Ning Zhiheng frowned as he looked at the large cluster of buildings opposite. The view was too good; many people living across the street could see Ning Zhiheng's current position. If they had a good vantage point and a pair of binoculars, they could see everything happening in this room.
He turned around and saw a table on his right with a thermos and a set of teacups on it. Ning Zhiheng went up and lifted the thermos. It was quite heavy. After opening it, he found that it was full of water and the temperature was very high. It should be freshly boiled water.
He then asked Yu Cheng, who was standing guard to the side, "Tell me, what exactly made you think that Gu Zhengqing was in trouble, and that's why you decided to come and check on him?"
