Chapter 845 Arrest Implementation

Ning Zhiheng threw the ledger in his hand on the table and asked again, "Is the evidence conclusive?"

“Absolutely true!” Jian Zhengping stepped forward and handed a document to Ning Zhiheng.

"These are some materials from our investigation of Guangyao Trading Company. They all show that Guangyao Trading Company is indeed Jiang Chou's property. Moreover, we secretly interrogated Jiang Chou and confirmed his testimony again. He honestly confessed to all the problems with Guangyao Trading Company. This can prove Bao Hong's embezzlement."

Ning Zhiheng opened the drawer, took out the interrogation records submitted by Bao Hong, pulled out Jiang Chou's copy, and examined it carefully. Sure enough, there was no record of Guangyao Trading Company mentioned at all.

Jian Zhengping said again, "Chief, we have witnesses!"

"A witness? Who is it?"

"It is Hou Shifei, the action captain under Bao Hong. This man is upright and has always been at odds with Bao Hong. He disapproves of Bao Hong's behavior and has secretly collected evidence of Bao Hong's fraudulent activities in handling cases within the military. This time, it was he who secretly investigated and followed Bao Hong and his subordinates, which is why I was able to find out the details. Now he is willing to come forward as a witness and join me in impeaching Bao Hong. Please investigate thoroughly, Director."

Ning Zhiheng nodded in satisfaction. Jian Zhengping was indeed meticulous in his work. He planned carefully before taking action and acted cautiously, leaving no loopholes for Bao Hong. Now that there were witnesses and physical evidence, it seemed that they could take action.

Where is Hou Shifei?

"Just wait in my office. Should I call him over?"

"Call them over here!"

Before long, Hou Shifei arrived at Ning Zhiheng's office. Ning Zhiheng questioned him carefully and finally confirmed that there was no mistake.

"You come with me to the interrogation department. I want to interrogate Jiang Chou personally."

After speaking, Ning Zhiheng took Jiang Chou's interrogation records and the list of seized items in his hand, got up and quickly left the office, with Jian Zhengping and Hou Shifei following closely behind.

Meanwhile, in the office of Bao Hong, the head of the Third Operations Section, he was having a low conversation with his trusted confidant, Xie Guangji.

Xie Guangji chuckled and said, "Section Chief, this is a trading company! Shops, land, goods, cars—even if we sell them at a discount, it'll still be a huge sum of money. We've really made a fortune this time."

Bao Hong was also beaming with pride and contentment. He recalled the scene from the previous night when he was counting the boxes full of antiques and gold bars, as well as the large amounts of US dollars and British pounds. He took a sip of tea, hummed a few tunes, and then said, "You know what, no money can be made as quickly as this kind of raid. All the hard-earned money that we brothers used to make, even if we put it all together, is not as substantial as this. If we pull off a few more raids like this, we'll have nothing to worry about."

At this point, he whispered an instruction: "Sell the stuff quickly, and then share it with the brothers. These days, it's more reassuring to keep the money in your own hands."

Bao Hong was quite particular about his actions. He treated his trusted subordinates well, keeping the lion's share of the benefits for himself and distributing the rest to the officers involved, especially Xie Guangji, his most trusted confidant, who was involved in everything and therefore received the most benefits.

Xie Guangji nodded and agreed, "Don't worry, everything will be fine. But Section Chief, this Jiang Chou is a big problem. We should find an opportunity to silence him, otherwise he will always be a hidden danger. We should have silenced him during the interrogation."

Xie Guangji was always Bao Hong's most capable assistant. He was meticulous in his work and considered many things.

Bao Hong, however, didn't take it seriously and waved his hand, saying, "You're being too cautious. He's just a traitor whose case has already been concluded. He's already confessed everything he needed to, so there's no point in talking about him anymore. Who would bother asking about his family property? Besides, if we really killed him during the interrogation, the interrogation officers aren't blind. Killing a Japanese spy is no small matter; it would only attract attention."

"That's it. If we don't say anything, no one will cause trouble. Besides, even if word gets out, it doesn't matter. Everyone in this Party and country is corrupt. Taking a little bit of money that passes through our hands isn't a big deal. At worst, we'll get a scolding from the Director. What else can we do?"

Bao Hong was a veteran who had served in the military for many years and had picked up a lot of bad habits, but he relied on being Huang Xianzheng's confidant and showed no intention of restraining himself.

Xie Guangji frowned and said, "It didn't matter before. Director Wei didn't cause any trouble because of the Director's face. But I don't think Director Ning is easy to deal with. A person's reputation precedes them. His reputation as the King of Hell didn't come out of thin air. We still need to be more careful."

"So verbose!"

Bao Hong glared at Jie Guangji with annoyance. "Whoever is in charge doesn't spout some high-sounding rhetoric and prevent us from getting any benefits. Are they going to let us brothers starve? Besides, even if something goes wrong, what can the bureau chief do to me with just one word?"

Although Bao Hong was somewhat afraid of Ning Zhiheng, he was driven by profit and money and couldn't care less about anything else. At most, he would be scolded by Huang Xianzheng. How could he possibly lose a layer of skin?

In the interrogation cell, Ning Zhiheng personally confirmed Jiang Chou's confession before getting up and leaving. He then turned to Wei Jiamu and instructed, "Keep a close watch on Jiang Chou. No one is allowed to contact him without my order."

"Yes!" Wei Jiamu nodded hurriedly in acceptance.

After leaving the interrogation room, Ning Zhiheng immediately instructed Zhao Jiang, "Go and notify the Third Operations Division to have all officers of team rank and above assemble in the conference room."

"Yes!" Zhao Jiang accepted the order and left.

Ning Zhiheng turned to Hou Shifei and ordered, "Go to Bao Hong's residence, ransack his house, and bring everything back. Let's see how he denies it!"

"Yes!" Hou Shifei left happily, knowing that Bao Hong would have no chance to escape this time; Director Ning was really going to make an example of Bao Hong.

Ten minutes later, the officers of the Third Operations Division gathered in the conference room. These officers, unaware of the details after receiving the notification, thought it was another arrest operation. Some of them were excitedly whispering among themselves, asking each other questions.

Bao Hong looked around and turned to Xie Guangji, asking, "Where's Hou Shifei? What's that guy up to? He's gone at this hour. I'll teach him a lesson when we get back!"

Xie Guangji also looked back and said uncertainly, "It seems they didn't notify us. But that kid is very cunning. Hopefully, nothing will go wrong."

Just as the officers were talking in hushed tones, Zhao Jiang led a group of guards into the conference room.

Everyone looked up and was immediately alarmed. They had never had security detail enter their meetings before; something was about to happen.

Sure enough, just as everyone was making their own guesses, Zhao Jiang stepped forward and said in a deep voice, "By order of the Chief, Bao Hong, Xie Guangji, Ren Mingyuan, Xiang Feiying, and Kou Shengxuan, hand over your sidearms and come with me!"
