Chapter 87 Sending a Message Again

Author's Note on Launch

This is my first time writing a novel. Before, my favorite genre was spy fiction! I was completely engrossed, reading every spy novel and TV series imaginable! I loved and admired classics like *Lurking*, *Cliff*, and *Before Dawn*, but of course, I also constantly criticized and even vehemently criticized the bad ones! Eventually, I couldn't stand it anymore and decided to roll up my sleeves and write my own! Haha!

I never expected that my story would be so well-received by so many readers as soon as I started writing. There are so many people I need to thank: the readers who have been with me from the very beginning, the editors who have appreciated me, and all of you who are following me now! Thank you! I am truly grateful from the bottom of my heart!

I promise that no matter how difficult it is or how much effort I have to put in, I will continue writing the story. Thank you again! My heart is warmed!

The following is the main text:

The first image must depict Zhang Pei joining the revolutionary ranks in his youth and spreading revolutionary ideas to the workers in a factory. This is a long time ago, and the information it contains is of no value to Ning Zhiheng.

The second image shows Zhang Pei, now middle-aged, teaching at a rural primary school. He is arrested after being discovered by secret agents. This image provides very little information.

Ning Zhiheng had already obtained very little information from Lu Ming; he only had a brief exchange with Lu Ming before Lu Ming died. In the memories he accessed from Lu Ming, there were no recollections of Zhang Pei.

Therefore, he did not know the specifics of Zhang Pei's situation, only that he betrayed the revolution and betrayed Lu Ming. He also did not know that Zhang Pei was an underground party member who had been out of contact for many years. The scarcity of information prevented him from learning more about this part of Zhang Pei's history.

The message conveyed in the third image is easy to understand: after being arrested, Zhang Pei, under severe torture by Ma Hong, finally failed to uphold his beliefs, betrayed the revolution, and became a shameful traitor!

The fourth scene should be Zhang Pei and Lu Ming meeting in the private room of that restaurant. From their conversation, it should be clear that the two knew each other before, and this meeting is their first encounter after many years.

Ning Zhiheng already knew what happened after that: Lu Ming forced his way out of the agents' encirclement and was injured. When Zhang Pei returned to the hotel's surveillance point, he was captured by Ning Zhiheng along with Ma Hong.

The fifth image, and the most valuable one, shows a middle-aged man with a long face, who is likely an intelligence officer from the Party Affairs Investigation Department.

He handed Zhang Pei a document bag and made it very clear in his words that he wanted Zhang Pei to read and understand a person's information.

It was obvious that the person the long-faced man mentioned was a member of the underground Communist Party. The Central Party Affairs Investigation Department had discovered his true identity but hadn't arrested him. Instead, they wanted Zhang Pei to approach and gain this person's trust, hoping to re-infiltrate the underground party and become a mole within its ranks.

This plan was extremely ruthless. The Party Affairs Investigation Department must have been interested in Zhang Pei's experience working in the underground party many years ago. After gaining the trust of this already exposed underground party member, they would find a suitable opportunity to reveal his identity as a veteran underground party member, thus making it seem natural for him to rejoin the underground party.

This step-by-step planning is very precise, which shows that the Party Affairs Investigation Department has a wealth of experience in dealing with underground party members!

But now Zhang Pei's death has killed the operation, but the danger still exists: the identity of this exposed underground party member must be found.

A document bag! The long-faced man handed Zhang Pei a document bag containing information about this underground party member; he had to find it!

Time was of the essence, and there was no time to waste. Ning Zhiheng returned to Zhang Pei's room. Since he was the only one left in the apartment, there was no need to hide his whereabouts anymore.

He turned on the room lights and quickly searched the room. Because Zhang Pei needed to read the information at any time and did not expect someone to suddenly sneak in and ambush him, he did not deliberately hide.

Ning Zhiheng quickly found the document bag in the drawer of his desk. He opened it, pulled out the documents, and quickly flipped through them.

Wu Quanjiang, the owner of Zhongkang Traditional Chinese Medicine Store, is 48 years old and a member of the underground Communist Party. It is believed he may be an important member of the Nanjing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party. The information is very detailed, even including Wu Quanjiang's height and weight, his relatives and friends, and his daily hobbies and routines!

It is evident that the Central Party Affairs Investigation Department has done its homework very thoroughly; Wu Quanjiang is now under comprehensive surveillance.

Upon seeing this, Ning Zhiheng became extremely anxious. Wu Quanjiang was an important member of the Nanjing Municipal Committee of the underground Communist Party and must know many of the Party's major secrets. His exposure posed an extremely serious danger to the underground party!

This situation must be reported to the underground party immediately so that they can take timely remedial measures. However, the only underground party member Ning Zhiheng knew was Xia Deyan, the manager of Qing Shi Tea House, who was also known as the farmer!

Yes, that's what we should do! We must inform the farmers as quickly as possible!

This document bag must also be handed over to the farmer in a timely manner, because its contents can prove that Wu Quanjiang has been completely exposed. After seeing this information, the farmer and the leaders of the underground party will definitely not doubt the authenticity of this intelligence!

However, if the Party Affairs Investigation Department discovers Zhang Pei's death and the missing document bag tomorrow, they will immediately realize that Wu Quanjiang's identity has been exposed and will definitely arrest him swiftly.

Ning Zhiheng has very little time left. It's already 2 a.m., and there are still five hours until dawn. He must act immediately. Hopefully, everything is still in time!

He found a piece of paper and a pen on the table, quickly wrote a few strokes, and then put the paper into his briefcase.
