Chapter 926 Brothers' Conversation

Ning Zhiheng put down the phone and immediately picked it up again to dial, quickly getting through to Liu Datong at the police station.

"Big Head, did you get the stuff back?"

"Reporting to the section chief, it's back! I'll deliver it to you right away!"

Half an hour later, Liu Datong arrived at Ning Zhiheng's office, took out a thick notebook, handed it to Ning Zhiheng, and said, "Chief, this is the record of my surveillance of Lin Mucheng's movements. It includes the people he mainly contacted and important developments. As you instructed, I had it sent back to Chongqing."

Ning Zhiheng took the thick notebook. In order to monitor Lin Mucheng, Liu Datong had been carrying out Ning Zhiheng's orders without fail for the past two years, and had made a considerable investment, which made Ning Zhiheng very satisfied.

"Big Head, among all my subordinates, you've been with me the longest and I trust you the most. You handled Lin Mucheng's matter exceptionally well. Sigh! After all these years, it's time to put an end to it. You won't have to worry about this matter anymore."

Hearing Ning Zhiheng's praise, Liu Datong felt a surge of warmth in his heart and quickly stood at attention to reply, "I, Liu Datou, owe my success today to your guidance, Director. I will certainly do my utmost to help you."

At this point, he lowered his voice and asked with some concern, "Chief, Lin Mucheng is Lin Zhen's son. You wouldn't really do something to him, would you?"

Ning Zhiheng laughed and waved his hand, gently comforting him, "Don't worry, I have a proper way to handle Lin Mucheng's matter. I won't force it. I've brought you here this time because I have another task for you."

After saying that, he took out two photos from the drawer, handed them to Liu Datong, and instructed: "Same as before, these two people are spies from the Japanese intelligence agency. I suspect they have already infiltrated Chongqing. Have Yanqing look for them. Once you find them, don't alert them. Report directly to me. If I'm not here, you can report directly to Deputy Director Wei. I've already given him instructions."

Liu Datong took the photo, nodded in acceptance, and then said, "Chief, what else do you need me to do regarding the Shunyuantang case? I have already ordered the establishment of a police station near Jinling University and assigned a police chief to be in charge of the university's security. Zhiming's safety will never be a problem again."

Liu Datong is thorough in his work. As soon as Ning Zhiming got into trouble, he quickly started making arrangements. It's never too late to mend the fence after the sheep are lost. This time, the director didn't blame him, but if another accident happens, it might not be so easy to get away with it.

Ning Zhiheng nodded repeatedly upon hearing this. He pointed at Liu Datong and gave him a stern look, then smiled with satisfaction: "Big Head, you've really gotten the hang of it. You do things exactly to my liking. Good job, prevention is the best policy. Well done!"

Hearing Ning Zhiheng's praise again, Liu Datong was overjoyed and secretly pleased with himself. Fortunately, his caution had indeed pleased the section chief.

Ning Zhiheng then asked, "Have you visited Zhiming these past two days? How is his recovery going?"

Liu Datong quickly nodded and said, "I go to check on him every day. Zhiming is recovering very well and his spirits are much better. I think he will be able to be discharged from the hospital soon."

Ning Zhiheng raised his hand to look at his watch, thought for a moment, nodded and said, "Okay, I still have some time today, so I'll go see him. You come with me."

Liu Datong hurriedly agreed, and Ning Zhiheng and his group quickly arrived at Yuzhou Hospital and went to Ning Zhiming's ward.

Two members of the action team remained guarding the door of the ward. They were personnel arranged by Zeng Xingguo to protect Ning Zhiming. Upon seeing Ning Zhiheng appear, they quickly stood at attention and saluted.

Ning Zhiheng waved and pushed the door open to enter. At that moment, Ning Zhiming was lying on the hospital bed reading a book. Hearing someone enter, he quickly stuffed the book under his pillow and turned to look at the door. When he saw that it was his second brother, he was startled.

He rarely gets to see his second brother, and he probably wouldn't have seen him at all if he hadn't been injured this time.

He quickly asked, "Second Brother, what brings you here?"

Ning Zhiheng walked a few steps to his bedside, smiled slightly, and asked, "How are you feeling? Does the wound still hurt?"

Ning Zhiheng was introverted and never smiled at anyone, not even his younger brother. He was known as difficult to get along with in the Ning family. It was only after he graduated from military academy that things improved. Therefore, his younger brother Ning Zhiming always treated him with great respect.

Hearing Ning Zhiheng's question, he quickly nodded and said, "I'm much better now, and it doesn't hurt anymore. It's just that I'm always lying down, and my chest feels very tight. I really want to get better soon. I don't want to stay in this hospital for another second."

Liu Datong took a chair and let Ning Zhiheng sit down, then stood behind Ning Zhiheng.

Ning Zhiheng nodded and said, "Yes, you still need to drink more water, especially after taking anti-inflammatory drugs. You need to drink plenty of water so that the medicine will be more effective!"

"I understand. The doctor said so too. Second brother, these anti-inflammatory drugs must be very expensive, right? I heard from the doctor that it's incredibly difficult to get one vial of sulfamethoxazole in Chongqing right now. My two classmates were lucky to have this drug, otherwise they would have been in danger."

Liu Datong chuckled and said, "That's true. Right now, the only way to buy sulfonamides is on the black market, and you have to use US dollars and gold to trade. You can't even buy them with legal tender. Ordinary people shouldn't even think about it. But luckily, we have reserves, just in case."

Upon hearing this, Ning Zhiming frowned, wanting to speak but holding back. Ning Zhiheng and Liu Datong were both shrewd and could clearly see Ning Zhiming's expression, but neither of them said anything more.

The three chatted for a while longer, then Ning Zhiheng said to Liu Datong, "If you have something to do, you can go back first. I'll stay here for a bit!"
