Chapter Eight: Successful Capture

Everyone, including the two human traffickers, was dragged out by the police. Everyone was completely confused, but orders from their superiors had to be obeyed.

Hearing the commotion, Liang Deyou and Shi Hong rushed over. Liang Deyou was somewhat disappointed and was preparing to expand the search area when he heard that Ning Zhiheng had made progress. He asked urgently, "Zhiheng, what have you found here?"

Ning Zhiheng couldn't say it directly because it was hard to explain. Could he really say that he had a special ability to predict the future?

He could only bite the bullet and say, "I heard some noise just now, but I'm not sure. Just to be safe, I should search carefully again. It should be here."

Ning Zhiheng's words were vague, but Liang Deyou didn't care. Any movement was better than nothing, so he immediately arranged for Shi Hong to lead the action team into the hospital to search.

Ning Zhiheng wanted to follow, but Liang Deyou stopped him, saying, "Let Shi Hong lead the team; he's more experienced than you."

Although Liang Deyou found Ning Zhiheng to be calm and quick-witted, he couldn't quite believe his fighting skills. After all, Ning Zhiheng was a recent graduate from military academy, and his combat abilities were bound to be weaker. He couldn't afford to let anything happen to Ning Zhiheng; it would be difficult to explain if anything were to occur!

Shi Hong and his team members were quite experienced. With guns in hand, they searched carefully, each taking cover as they went.

They had searched all the rooms in the yard. Just as they were about to search the wood rack in a corner of the yard, a fist-sized object suddenly flew out from behind the rack.

At this moment, the team members were completely focused and highly alert. They reacted immediately to any movement, with those having good eyesight shouting, "It's a grenade!"

Some people quickly lay down, while others took cover in the nearest bunker. In the blink of an eye, a violent explosion rang out, and debris flew everywhere.

Ning Zhiheng and other officers heard the sound of grenades exploding again outside the courtyard. Liang Deyou couldn't help but curse, "Damn it, American grenades again!" These Japanese spies seemed to have a particular fondness for this kind of small but deadly weapon.

Ning Zhiheng could no longer hold back. He rushed into the courtyard, and Liang Deyou, seeing that he couldn't stop him, quickly followed him in.

The Ning Zhiheng of today is not the sickly middle-aged office worker of his previous life. In this life, he is only twenty years old, in the prime of his health, vitality, and youth.

Having also undergone two years of military academy training, he was already quite agile. In addition, his physical condition improved recently.

It's fair to say that Ning Zhiheng's skills are now quite impressive. This is what gave him the confidence to rush into the courtyard.

Just then, the explosion stopped, and a figure darted toward the courtyard wall behind him, moving with incredible speed and agility, like a cat.

He also noticed that the action team members waiting on the roof were coming to stop him. He turned around on the wall and almost instantly jumped over the roof of the courtyard, trying to rush across the area.

Ning Zhiheng did not hesitate at all. His eyesight was far superior to that of ordinary people, and he was able to judge the target's movements in a short time.

He raised his Browning pistol and fired. Two shots rang out, and the figure fell to the ground as if struck by a heavy blow.

Ning Zhiheng was an extremely accurate marksman; both shots hit their mark, one in the right shoulder and the other in the left thigh. He didn't dare aim for vital areas; Fu Cheng was very important, and bringing him back alive would be invaluable.

At this moment, the team members also gathered around and were all amazed to see Ning Zhiheng's two brilliant shots.

They hadn't expected the new vice-captain to be such a sharpshooter. From twenty meters away, he fired in a flash, relying solely on instinct, hitting the shoulder and thigh – areas that would immediately disable the target without being fatal. Even these seasoned veterans, who usually prided themselves on their skills, couldn't execute such a clean shot.

This was Ning Zhiheng's first time truly hitting a real human target. He looked down at the gun in his hand. This was different from shooting at targets on the training field. He felt more excited and accomplished this time. He felt a certain nerve in his body being stimulated, and a strange impulse surged through him. This feeling was wonderful, really wonderful!

"Zhiheng, well done! You deserve the most credit for this operation!" Liang Deyou was extremely excited and patted Ning Zhiheng on the shoulder.

They initially thought that after suffering such heavy losses, they would only face punishment upon returning, but unexpectedly, the situation took an unexpected turn, and the escaped target was captured alive.

Fu Cheng tried to stand up, but Ning Zhiheng quickly stepped forward, pinned him to the ground, and handcuffed him.

Fu Cheng struggled desperately to no avail. He glared at Ning Zhiheng with a vicious look and said through gritted teeth, "I really shouldn't have hesitated just now. I missed the opportunity, or I would have blown you up too!"

Ning Zhiheng was startled. No wonder the warning signs had indicated that this desperate man had indeed intended to throw a grenade at him. Ning Zhiheng's sudden escape had likely caught him off guard, causing him to hesitate and miss the opportunity.

The team members were on guard afterward, and the grenade had little effect. In the end, it was Ning Zhiheng who caused the disaster, and Fu Cheng was filled with regret.

Liang Deyou bent down to examine the man's face, and it closely resembled the one in the photo. He immediately arranged for a team member to notify Huang Taoguang of the intelligence department to identify the person; barring any unforeseen circumstances, it shouldn't be a mistake.

He reached out and pinched the man's jaw joint, quickly examined his mouth, and then took off his shirt.

Based on his experience dealing with Japanese spies, these people were all stubborn individuals. They might very well possess methods to commit suicide in a crisis, so he dared not be careless.

Team members nearby were giving the target emergency first aid to prevent him from bleeding to death. Soon after, Huang Taoguang rushed into the courtyard and confirmed that it was indeed the target, Fu Cheng. The operation was considered a minor success; although several team members had been killed, the target was captured, and everyone could give a satisfactory explanation.
