Nishihara Takayuki answered the police officer's questions with ease. He had prepared the household registration certificate in advance, and it was exactly the same as the real one. Unless someone went to check it, it would be impossible to detect.
He also noticed the police officers next to the household registration officer; their sharp gazes swept over him, making him feel extremely uncomfortable.
Zuo Qiang made a subtle gesture with his right hand behind his back, and the other team members understood and took a few more steps forward, subtly blocking Nishihara Takayuki's retreat.
Nishihara Takayuki, who had been paying close attention to the police's behavior, no longer harbored any illusions. These police officers were after him, and he wondered what had gone wrong with him, who had always been so cautious.
As he spoke, one hand naturally slid towards his waist, but Zuo Qiang, sensing something amiss, decisively made his move.
A lightning-fast punch came toward Nishihara Takayuki's face, forcing him to turn his head and raise his hand to deal with it, but he could not dodge the following heavy kick.
The Zuo brothers had practiced martial arts since childhood and had honed their skills in the martial arts world. In the action team, apart from Ning Zhiheng and Sun Jiacheng, no one could match them.
Without any fancy moves, he kicked Nishihara Takayuki hard in the stomach, the force causing him to groan and fall backward.
At the same time, the other team members rushed over. They were well-trained and quickly restrained Nishihara Takayuki's hands.
Just as Nishihara Takayuki was in despair and turned his head to bite at his collar, a strong, bent arm grabbed his neck from behind and pinned him to the ground, rendering him completely immobile.
"Report to the team leader immediately and thoroughly search this residence to see if there is a radio or codebook," Zuo Qiang ordered.
When Ning Zhiheng arrived, the team members had already begun a thorough search of the residence.
Ning Zhiheng looked at Nishihara Takayuki, who was now under tight control, and asked Zuo Qiang beside him, "How's the search going?"
Zuo Qiang quickly replied, "Young Master, no, Team Leader, he has a pistol on him and drugs hidden in his collar. It must be Huang Zhongxin. But we haven't found anything in the house. The brothers are still searching."
With his mouth gagged and unable to make a sound, Nishihara Takayuki was startled when he heard Zuo Qiang mention Huang Zhongxin's name. He immediately realized that these people had followed the trail to Xiangling Alley, as it was the alias he had used when hiding there. More than a year had passed, and the Chinese agents had not given up and had finally found him.
Nishihara Takayuki was extremely relieved at this moment. His caution had not been wrong. Fortunately, he had burned the encrypted codebook in advance, preventing it from falling into the hands of the enemy.
As for the radio station? It's already in enemy hands, its identity has been proven, so whether we find it or not is irrelevant.
The subsequent search of the house yielded no results. Upon hearing this, Ning Zhiheng frowned and stepped into the apartment, deciding to search it himself.
By this time, the entire apartment had been ransacked, all the furniture had been moved, and the walls had been searched thoroughly, leaving them dented and uneven. No hidden compartments were found, demonstrating the experience of the team members and the thoroughness of their search.
"Team leader, we've searched everywhere. Aside from some valuables, there was a hidden compartment under the bed in the bedroom, but we found nothing inside," a team member reported.
There's a hidden compartment? Something must have been hidden there before. Ning Zhiheng went into the bedroom and found that the bed had been moved to the side and a floorboard had been pried open, revealing a hidden compartment.
Ning Zhiheng squatted down to take a look, then reached out and touched the dust inside the hidden compartment.
It's very clean, which means it was in use before, but the items have now been removed. I measured the size of the hidden compartment by hand, and I estimate it's big enough to fit a radio used by Japanese spies.
"Team leader, there are remnants of burning in the trash can," another team member reported to Ning Zhiheng at the bedroom door.
Upon hearing the report, Ning Zhiheng got up and left the bedroom, going to the trash can the team member had pointed out. Sure enough, there was a small pile of burnt ashes inside, which had been burned very thoroughly and were probably flammable materials such as paper.
Ning Zhiheng was somewhat disappointed, realizing that such a large-scale search could not be conducted in a way that was both covert and sudden. If the target was cautious and decisive enough, they would have plenty of time to destroy all the evidence.
But does the Military Intelligence Investigation Department need evidence? Of course not! As long as the person is caught and they are forced to talk, all the evidence will be there. No matter what they are hiding, they will honestly confess.
Ning Zhiheng didn't want to waste any more time, so he arranged for Zuo Qiang to stay behind with a few men to keep watch and continue the search, while he led his men back to the Military Intelligence Investigation Department.
Nishihara Takayuki was taken to the interrogation room, and Ning Zhiheng immediately began questioning him.
The interrogators knew Ning Zhiheng's style, and they immediately prepared the torture instruments, awaiting Ning Zhiheng's instructions.
Ning Zhiheng waved his hand, and the interrogators immediately removed the gag from Nishihara Takayuki's mouth, which immediately relieved the tightness in his chest, and he took several deep breaths.
Ning Zhiheng approached Nishihara Takayuki and, as is customary, began his first question.
"Huang Zhongxin? No, he's changed his name to Li Chunfeng now!" Ning Zhiheng looked calmly into Nishihara Takayuki's eyes. "You've been hiding and running for over a year now, it must have been tough for you, right?"
Nishihara Takayuki shook his head and replied, "I don't know what you're talking about!"
