Chapter Fifty-Nine: A Discovery Finally Made

Ning Zhiheng then called over Sun Jiacheng, one of his team members. Sun Jiacheng was the same team member who had fought Huang Xiansheng with a short blade.

He was exceptionally skilled and a master of close combat. Ning Zhiheng had always wanted to find an opportunity to learn from him, but he never had the time.

Ning Zhiheng is a very cautious person. He felt uneasy about this operation because he didn't have any skilled personnel under his command. He was worried that he would have to take precautions to protect his personal safety in case of an emergency.

This Sun family member was the bodyguard he had always chosen; he was his subordinate and could be directly mobilized.

Sun Jiacheng was very happy to hear that Ning Zhiheng wanted him to work for him. He admired the young captain and was glad that he was chosen to follow him.

At this moment, Shao Wenguang also came out in civilian clothes. Ning Zhiheng then realized that this old Shao looked much better in his coarse clothes than in his military uniform. It seemed that he usually preferred to wear civilian clothes. If you put him on the street like this, no one would associate him with a military officer!

The three of them quickly arrived at the rented house near Lin Mucheng's home, where Chen Yanqing was still waiting.

"Where is Cui Hai located now?" Ning Zhiheng asked.

“He should be near the headquarters of the Fourth Division now. He followed Lin Mucheng all the way!” Chen Yanqing replied.

"Who is this Lin Mucheng? What is his relationship with Cui Hai?" Shao Wenguang, who was still unaware of the case, couldn't help but ask.

Ning Zhiheng brought over a chair and invited Shao Wenguang to sit down. He first explained the case to him, but deliberately downplayed Lin Mucheng's suspicion in his words.

Ultimately, he was still wary of Lin Mucheng's powerful background and didn't want to provoke this troublesome opponent. He knew that if the military intelligence department found out Lin Mucheng's identity, whoever arrested him would be the one responsible, Ning Zhiheng. He couldn't guarantee that the bigwig from the Baoding clique wouldn't hold a grudge against him; it was best to be cautious in such matters!

He simply said that Lin Mucheng used to be a colleague of the Japanese spy Huang Xiansheng, and that he only discovered someone was following Lin Mucheng by chance while conducting routine surveillance, and then followed the clues to find the current Cui Hai.

"Then what did you ask me to do, Zhiheng?" Shao Wenguang asked, frowning after hearing this.

"You don't need to pay attention to Lin Mucheng. My focus now is on Cui Hai. I judge him to be the key to the case. He has counter-surveillance capabilities. What I need you to do is keep a close eye on him. I need to know as much as possible about his every move and who he contacts. Also, he has a suitcase in the hotel. I want you to go in and search it to see if you can find any clues!"

"Understood. I see you have some men under you. Please explain the situation." Shao Wenguang nodded in agreement.

“I currently have five police officers as assistants, and I’ve also deployed seventeen rickshaw pullers to be on standby nearby. We can send more people if necessary, that’s not a problem. The problem is that none of them have ever been in contact with real spies, they have no experience. I’m afraid they might accidentally alert the target, and then all our efforts will be in vain!” Ning Zhiheng gave a brief overview of his team’s situation.

Shao Wenguang hadn't expected Ning Zhiheng to be so meticulous in his preparations, and to have so many more people than he had anticipated. It seemed he had underestimated this young man before!

“I want command of these people. I’ll take charge and make all the arrangements. Is that alright?” Shao Wenguang then asked.

“Of course, Lao Shao, that’s why I brought you here. I haven’t been in this business for very long. I’m handing the man over to you. Just keep an eye on him and don’t alert him!” Ning Zhiheng said solemnly.

Shao Wenguang nodded without saying a word, which meant he had agreed.

Things went smoothly. That same day, Ning Zhiheng gathered Liu Yong and a few others for a meeting, formally introduced Shao Wenguang to everyone, and instructed that Shao Wenguang would support the surveillance work from now on.

Upon hearing this, everyone realized that this unassuming man, who looked like a waiter, was also an officer in the military intelligence department, with a rank higher than Ning Zhiheng's. They were all taken aback, thinking to themselves that one really cannot judge a book by its cover!

From that day on, Shao Wenguang took over the surveillance work, and within a day, he had won everyone's respect.

Shao Wenguang didn't pay any attention to the rickshaw drivers. They were just playing themselves; all they had to do was pull the rickshaw and report their location. There shouldn't be any problems.

He provided highly targeted guidance, primarily to Ning Zhiheng and the other individuals responsible for surveillance.

He patted Ning Zhiheng on the shoulder and said, "Zhiheng, your back is too straight. You know, even if an ordinary person keeps their back straight, it's different from a soldier's. A soldier's straight back is deliberately corrected; to put it bluntly, it has a stiff posture. You should tilt your head forward slightly and relax your shoulders a bit more. Most people can't see these details, but those with strong observation skills can."

Also, Zhiheng, your Longines watch is too conspicuous and doesn't match your outfit. You'd be better off with a pocket watch!

Upon hearing this, Ning Zhiheng quickly took off his Longines watch. This watch was extremely valuable and most people couldn't afford it. He never expected that he would be so careless.

Shao Wenguang then said to Xiong Hongda, "You should have experience in tracking people, but be careful. When monitoring someone, try not to stare directly at them. It's best to use your peripheral vision to scan them, because some people are very sensitive to other people's gaze. Remember, try not to face the target directly, because people's memory of the side is very vague, but they have an unconscious memory of the front. If the target sees the same face several times in a short period of time, it is easy to wake the target up!"

"And you!" Shao Wenguang pointed at Hou Cheng, "You almost startled the target today! You always have to prepare some change when you're following someone. You pretended to eat rice cakes at the food stall to avoid attracting the target's attention."
