Chapter 374 Arriving at the Base

At this point, he lowered his voice and said with genuine admiration, "Our captain's marksmanship is absolutely amazing! Every shot is fatal, all hitting the head. I've never seen such a sharpshooter!"

This team member was an action member at an outpost of the Military Intelligence Investigation Department. He had been transferred from another squadron to the reconnaissance squadron and was unaware of Ning Zhiheng's reputation. Naturally, he was taken aback by Ning Zhiheng's amazing performance.

Hearing his words, Sun Jiacheng finally felt relieved. He smiled and said, "The captain is one of the top action experts in our military intelligence department, and a renowned sharpshooter. You'll see how amazing he is in the future."

Hearing their conversation, Yan Yuanzhou couldn't help but click his tongue in amazement. It seemed they had really taken care of the Japanese plainclothes team. The gunfire had only lasted for twenty minutes, and this special agent squad had ended the battle so swiftly, demonstrating their formidable combat capabilities.

Sun Jiacheng turned to Yan Yuanzhou and said, "Company Commander Yan, the battle is over. Once we've cleaned up the battlefield, you can proceed."

Yan Yuanzhou's curiosity was piqued at this moment. He was eager to see who this captain was!

He stepped forward and said with a smile, "Captain Sun, could you introduce me to your battalion commander? By the way, didn't you say you were going to the garrison headquarters? You can hitch a ride with us, it's no problem to squeeze in, it's better than walking until the middle of the night!"

"That's right!" Sun Jiacheng slapped his forehead. He had been so focused on the battle that he had forgotten about this. After marching for several hours and fighting again, the team members must be exhausted. Now that there was a convoy, they could save most of the journey and reach their destination sooner.

"Haha, Company Commander Yan is so understanding. How about this, let's go take a look together, and I'll introduce you!" Sun Jiacheng quickly said.

Then he directed the other team members to walk forward and meet up with Ning Zhiheng.

When they arrived, the bodies on the road had not yet been cleared. Sun Jiacheng quickly sent people to clean up the battlefield and wait for Ning Zhiheng to come down from the high ground.

"Team leader, after a rough count, including the sentries, we killed 83 enemies, no prisoners of war, and captured 110 rifles, 97 pistols, 12 boxes of grenades, and one radio. We estimate there are still more than 20 corpses on the main road. In total, we eliminated more than 100 enemies this time," Shen Xiang reported as he walked over.

"What are our casualties?" Ning Zhiheng was most concerned about his comrades. During the exchange of fire, he clearly heard that some of his men had been hit.

"Three people were killed and twelve were wounded, two of whom were seriously wounded. However, the Japanese plainclothes team carried a lot of medicine, and our medics have already given them basic treatment. We'll see if they can be delivered to the garrison headquarters in time!" Shen Xiang replied.

In his view, the victory of annihilating the plainclothes team at such a small cost was an extremely brilliant victory.

Ning Zhiheng's heart sank, and he said, "Hurry up and get to the main road, intercept the transport convoy, and use their vehicles to transport the bodies of the fallen soldiers and the wounded away."

Ning Zhiheng led his men down from the high ground and onto the main road. Sun Jiacheng quickly stepped forward to introduce Yan Yuanzhou.

"Captain Ning fought a truly brilliant battle! I am truly impressed!" Yan Yuanzhou saluted and said repeatedly.

Ning Zhiheng nodded and, without any formalities, directly explained his purpose. Yan Yuanzhou readily agreed, and so Ning Zhiheng's reconnaissance squadron boarded the transport convoy and sped towards the garrison command post.

At 10 p.m., the convoy arrived at the military command post in Yangjing District, Pudong. Ning Zhiheng immediately arranged for the wounded to be sent to the military infirmary for treatment and also sent the seized medicines with them.

Then he arranged for two guides to quickly contact the gang members at the dock, as Ning Zhiheng needed to know the status of supplies in the warehouses along the coast as soon as possible so that he could make arrangements.

After everything was in order, he hurried to the garrison command post to report for duty, where he was greeted by the officer on duty.

When the officer heard the special operations unit's designation, he was taken aback and asked, "Captain Ning, we just received the transfer order this morning, and you're already here tonight! You're incredibly fast! I'll report to the commander immediately, please wait a moment!"

After saying that, he turned and left the office. A short while later, he returned and said to Ning Zhiheng, "Captain Ning, the commander wants to see you!"
