Chapter 1200 Arranging Fieldwork

Fortunately, I noticed something was wrong beforehand. Otherwise, if I had been completely unaware and led them to my superior, it would have been extremely dangerous.

After much deliberation, Jiang Weicheng decided to remain unchanged for the time being and observe the situation further. The main reason was that he was not clear about the situation around him, and he was not confident that he could get away safely if he acted rashly.

After thinking it over, he didn't delay any longer. He stepped out of the bathroom and continued to linger in the casino until late at night before returning to his residence.

As soon as I got home, I quickly closed the door, then walked a few steps to the window, parted the curtains and peered out. Under the streetlights, I saw a few figures flash by and then disappear.

The next day, Jiang Weicheng went to work at the action team as usual. After leaving home, he came to the intersection and looked around. He noticed a cigarette vendor across the street.

These are new faces who just appeared today. Jiang Weicheng clearly remembers the vendor who used to sell cigarettes here. Now that vendor has disappeared. He must have been driven away by the surveillance personnel from No. 76 and replaced by a new person.

Without making a sound, he waved for a rickshaw and headed towards the Second Action Team.

Just then, in a car parked near Jiang Weicheng's house, several men were watching Jiang Weicheng's departing figure and talking in hushed tones.

Rong Wenyan, the captain of the First Intelligence Section, handed a document to a man beside him and introduced him, "Captain Feng, this is Jiang Weicheng. After our investigation over this period of time, we have confirmed that Jiang Weicheng is the mole planted in the Action Brigade by the Shanghai Station of the Military Intelligence Bureau, and he is also the main target of the Dahua Hospital case. These are some materials we have collected. Please take a look!"

The man beside him was none other than Feng Shinian. Ever since he betrayed his former colleague Huang Lihui and sabotaged the Shanghai station's liaison post, Luo Xingchao had arranged for him to work in the intelligence section of the First Division, giving him the position of captain in order to keep him in check.

In reality, to prevent him from posing another threat to the Shanghai station, Section Chief Cui Yuanfeng had him stay at headquarters and prevented him from going on field missions.

This time, Cui Yuanfeng made an exception and sent him out. The reason, of course, was that Feng Shinian was familiar with Chen Hongchi and his key subordinates, which would make it easier to identify enemy cadres when tracking Jiang Weicheng.

At this moment, Feng Shinian took the materials, glanced through them, nodded, and said, "Captain Rong, you've been investigating this case all along. Now that the target is clear, there's really no need for me to come. However, Section Chief Cui's intention is to keep a close eye on him, find his superior, and catch a big fish. I was sent here to assist because of some special circumstances and I know some inside information. Don't overthink it!"

Feng Shinian's sudden intervention was motivated by a fear that Rong Wenyan and others might misunderstand him as someone who had parachuted in to reap the benefits, and thus harbor resentment. Therefore, he made a point of explaining the situation.

Rong Wenyan's lips twitched almost imperceptibly, but his face was all smiles, showing no sign of unease. He said with a smile, "Captain Feng, you're overthinking it. The section chief has already made it clear that the investigation will be led by you. We all need to obey and cooperate unconditionally. Our First Division is different from other divisions; our operational discipline is absolutely uncompromising. So please rest assured, we will follow your command in all actions and will never hold you back!"

Hearing Rong Wenyan speak frankly, Feng Shinian immediately felt relieved. He was most afraid that these people would outwardly comply but inwardly obstruct him. You see, although he was a captain, he had no soldiers or power under his command and no help at all. Suddenly commanding these field personnel made him somewhat unsure of himself.

“Captain Rong, it’s good that you think that way. Actually, I’ve just been coasting along at headquarters. If it weren’t for the special nature of this case, I would never have gotten involved. I can guarantee that once this case is solved, the credit will go to you, Captain Rong. I will never take credit for something that doesn’t belong to me or be ungrateful.”

Upon hearing Feng Shinian's guarantee, Rong Wenyan was overjoyed and patted his chest, saying, "Great! With Captain Feng's assurance, we're all family now. I'll definitely cooperate fully!"
