Ning Zhiheng's words were like a sharp knife piercing Kang Chunxue's heart, but she still bit her lip tightly and finally blurted out, "I don't know anything, I'm innocent, please let me go!"
Ning Zhiheng snorted coldly, turned around and ordered, "Go and call them in!"
Wang Shucheng immediately agreed and went out, soon leading the couple from Anhe Shop back in.
They brought them to Kang Chunxue and pointed at her face, asking, "Is this the woman who made the phone call at your shop at 10:30 a.m. six days ago?"
The couple was so terrified by the scene in the interrogation room that they could barely move. They held on, looking at Kang Chunxue, whose hands were covered with long iron spikes, blood dripping from them, and who was barely breathing. They answered according to what Ning Zhiheng had taught them beforehand: "It's her!"
The female shopkeeper continued, trembling, "That day she was wearing a blue and white cheongsam with a peony pattern, and her hair was draped in curls. I remember it very clearly!"
The male shopkeeper, forcing a smile, said, "The phone call was only for a short time, but I remember her face!"
Hearing the couple's words, Kang Chunxue finally gave up completely. Sure enough, the shopkeepers had remembered her phone call that day, even noting down exactly what she was wearing and the length of the call. These details were things she hadn't even noticed herself, yet they had recounted them all, proving they were telling the truth.
Ning Zhiheng waved his hand, and Wang Shucheng led the couple out. Only then did Ning Zhiheng turn around and ask again, "Kang Chunxue, what else do you have to say now? Don't hold on to any hope. If you keep denying it, only pain and death await you!"
Things had come to this point, and Kang Chunxue was unwilling to say a word. She turned her head to the side and refused to speak no matter how much Ning Zhiheng asked.
A fierce glint flashed in Ning Zhiheng's eyes, and he waved his hand, saying, "Let's continue!"
The interrogators nearby didn't dare to be negligent and picked up iron skewers, inserting them one by one into Kang Chunxue's toes.
Having endured immense pain once again, Kang Chunxue fainted again, only to be revived by splashing cold water. Ning Zhiheng, too lazy to ask any more questions, waved his hand to signal the interrogation to continue.
Then a red-hot branding iron was repeatedly struck on Kang Chunxue's body, accompanied by a burning smell. After a few more screams, Kang Chunxue fainted again.
Even Zhao Ziliang, who was standing to the side, frowned. He turned to Ning Zhiheng and said, "Zhiheng, if this continues, she won't live much longer. Isn't there still one target? Maybe we can pry something out of him!"
Zhao Ziliang had truly experienced the ruthlessness of his subordinate. A delicate woman was turned into a lump of mangled flesh in less than an hour. Looking at Ning Zhiheng's expressionless face, he couldn't help but nod in approval.
Having served in the army in his youth and spent many years honing his skills on the battlefield, Zhao Ziliang later joined the Military Intelligence Investigation Department to work in the espionage industry. He had handled countless lives, which honed his iron heart to the point where he was so ruthless. Yet now, a young man who had only graduated half a year ago could do the same thing, even more cold-blooded. Zhao Ziliang was truly amazed. No wonder the Chief of Staff often said that Ning Zhiheng was born for this job!
Ning Zhiheng hadn't expected Kang Chunxue to hold on this long, but he still had many more methods up his sleeve, and he didn't believe Kang Chunxue could really pull through.
Seeing Zhao Ziliang speak up, he had no choice but to obey. He nodded helplessly and said, "Alright, let her catch her breath a little longer. I don't believe she's made of iron!"
After saying that, he said to Wang Shucheng, "Take her away and bring Xing Lixuan up. Even if we have to boil him into juice, we will get to the bottom of this."
Zhao Ziliang could tell from the sound that Ning Zhiheng's fierceness hadn't dissipated and that he was probably still upset. He patted Ning Zhiheng on the shoulder and said, "Zhiheng, don't put too much pressure on yourself. I'm a little tired too. Go back and rest for a while. You know what you're doing!"
After he finished speaking, he stood up, and Ning Zhiheng quickly got up and saw him out.
Soon Wang Shucheng brought Xing Lixuan over. Ning Zhiheng glanced at him coldly; he was just an ordinary-looking young man, and he didn't bother to ask any more questions.
He said to the interrogators, "Follow the steps we just did, and this time we must not stop until he has died!"
These words immediately sent a chill down the spines of the interrogators. There had long been rumors among the colleagues in the interrogation department that Team Leader Ning of the Action Section was like a living Yama, extremely ruthless when interrogating prisoners. Today, they had experienced Team Leader Ning's ruthlessness firsthand. They had interrogated so many prisoners, but they had never seen anyone as reckless and ruthless as Ning Zhiheng!
The interrogation of Xing Lixuan followed the same pattern. The interrogators were exhausted and covered in sweat. The entire interrogation room was filled with a strong smell of blood and burning. Finally, Wang Shucheng, who was standing to the side, could not bear it any longer and rushed out of the interrogation room to vomit repeatedly in a corner.
I don't know how long I vomited, I just felt like I was about to vomit my whole heart out, and only then could I catch my breath.
He wanted to leave this place, to leave this hellish place, but he held back in the end. He would have to face these things sooner or later. For a special agent, this was an inescapable hurdle. He had always taken Ning Zhiheng as his role model and wondered how the team leader would behave when he interrogated a criminal for the first time. He was sure he wouldn't be as pathetic as he was.
He forced himself to stand up and turned to walk back to the interrogation room, feeling utterly weak, every joint feeling soft, as if he were walking on cotton, each step feeling unsteady.
