Chapter 20 A Liar, a Liar Who Speaks the Whole Language

Chapter 20 A Liar, a Liar Who Speaks the Whole Language

In combat, experience is more important, and one must be flexible and adaptable; otherwise, it's just empty talk and working in isolation.

This was a lesson she learned from ordinary swordsmen.

"Anyone else who disagrees, come at me, I'll fight them to the bitter end."

Shen Cangyu's tone was arrogant, but no one stepped forward. They had all witnessed his swordplay and knew that Shen Cangyu's swordsmanship and awareness far surpassed theirs. They were already convinced and knew that this person was no ordinary mortal.

But they still stubbornly refused to admit defeat and insisted on making excuses for themselves.

"We're not all sword cultivators. Many of us have inherited other Daoist techniques and don't need to practice swordsmanship. It's normal that we can't beat you. If you're so capable, let's settle this with Daoist techniques!"

Shen Cangyu: "..." Is this how you play the game?

Seeing Shen Cangyu narrow his eyes, they boldly asked, "What kind of magic is behind you? Surely it can't be inferior to ours?"

Shen Cangyu: "..." You'd be terrified if I told you.

Xu Qiubai suddenly remembered that Shen Cangyu had said he hadn't inherited any Daoist techniques, and he was about to retort when a voice came from behind him: "What are you all talking about?"

Pei Wenjing sat up from the oxcart and looked at the crowd on the opposite side: "Go on, let me hear it too."

The disciples not far away then realized that Pei Wenjing was sitting behind them. Upon seeing him, everyone fell silent, and no one dared to speak again.

They were afraid of Pei Wenjing, firstly because Pei Wenjing was the senior disciple of their generation.

In terms of age, Pei Wenjing was younger than most of them, but he was the first among this generation of disciples to enter the inner sect of Kunlun and become the sect leader's disciple. Therefore, the other disciples could only call him "Senior Brother." In terms of seniority, they could only treat Pei Wenjing with utmost respect.

Secondly, the eldest brother was indeed terrifying; few people present hadn't been beaten.

His fights were different from Xu Qiubai's.

Xu Qiubai was being unreasonable, but the senior brother was acting on behalf of Heaven. The person who was beaten was in the wrong and was completely crushed by the senior brother. Over time, whenever he saw Pei Wenjing coming, he would only lower his head and call him senior brother, or stay far away.

Even the most combative disciple of Kunlun was terrified of Pei Wenjing. As soon as he heard that Pei Wenjing had come to the training ground, he ran away without looking back.

They all bowed their heads and greeted, "Greetings, Senior Brother."

Pei Wenjing covered his mouth and coughed a few times before asking, "Have you completed all the training missions?"

When he checked their homework, everyone lowered their heads even further, their chins almost piercing their collarbones.

“Now that the demonic cultivators are becoming increasingly visible, and their strength is considerable, you can’t handle them. It’s not safe outside. If you haven’t completed your training, then forget it and go back to Kunlun first,” he said, pausing for a moment before adding, “If the elders blame you, just say that I sent you back.”

"Senior Brother..." someone couldn't help but ask, "What exactly is going on? Weren't demonic cultivators eliminated long ago? Why are there still demonic cultivators around?"

“Human hearts are complex, and demonic cultivators can never be completely eradicated. We can only suppress them, but we cannot completely eliminate them. As for the origins of those demonic cultivators who have recently emerged… I don’t know either, but I’m afraid the world is about to descend into chaos again,” Pei Wenjing said.

Every few decades, demonic cultivators would make a comeback, only to be suppressed by righteous cultivators. This cycle repeated itself several times, like a reincarnation.

Their past worldly trials were all led by senior Kunlun disciples, traveling throughout the various countries. With their elders present, they would be able to fight back no matter how terrifying the demonic cultivators they encountered.

Perhaps because the previous trials had been too uneventful, this time, Kunlun, in order to test their abilities, allowed them to form their own teams and disperse to various places for training, without letting the seniors follow them.

Unexpectedly, they encountered demonic cultivators as soon as they left the mountain, suffering a severe setback and heavy losses.

Pei Wenjing foresaw that the future would be turbulent, so he decided to take all his disciples back to Kunlun to minimize the damage and prevent more disciples from dying on the way.

It's not too late for them to go back and rest for a while, and then set off again once their mental skills and Taoist practices have improved.

"Are the disciples of Xiaoyao You still around?" he asked.

A girl with pigtails emerged from the crowd: "I'm here."

"Is there only one Free and Unfettered Wanderer left now?" Their team originally had a disciple who inherited the Daoist technique Free and Unfettered Wanderer, but that person died at the hands of a demonic cultivator.

"How many people can your fish cart carry at most?" Pei Wenjing asked.

“Fifteen,” she said.

The people present looked around. There were fifteen people in their group, and three more would make it full. After all, they had calculated the number of people accurately when they came to form this group.

If we add Pei Wenjing, Xu Qiubai, and Lu Yuan now, the team will be full.

But Shen Cangyu could only remain.

Shen Cangyu's heart had just been in her throat when she heard their words, but then she heard Pei Wenjing say, "Take your men back first and report these matters to the elders. The rest of us will think of another way to get back."

Her heart sank back down.

“There are more than three of us,” Pei Wenjing said, then frowned and coughed a few times.

"Lu Yuan, you should go back with them," Pei Wenjing said, looking at the lizard on Shen Cangyu's shoulder.

Lu Yuan clung tightly to Shen Cangyu's clothes, and they couldn't be pulled apart. If anyone tried to touch her, she would bite them.

"So fierce! If you don't want to go back, then don't go back! Why bite people?" Xu Qiubai abruptly withdrew his hand.

"What are you doing here?" Pei Wenjing looked down at her. "The Question of the World has already been triggered. You can only stay in this lizard now. You can't return to your body, you can't use your mental techniques, and your Taoist power has been greatly reduced. There's no use for you staying here. You might as well go back and let the elders help you return to your original body."

Lu Yuan spits out the letter to him.

Pei Wenjing narrowed his eyes, and Shen Cangyu quickly covered Lu Yuan and hugged her in his arms: "It's okay, let her stay if she wants to. I will protect her. It's just that she will return to Kunlun a little later. It's not like she will never go back. There will always be a chance to restore her to her original state."

Pei Wenjing glanced at her indifferently and turned his head away: "Whatever you want."

"Senior brother, shall we head back now?" After checking their luggage, the Kunlun disciples asked one more question before leaving, "Senior brother, is there anything you need us to take back with you?"

Pei Wenjing thought for a moment and said, "Yes." He searched his sleeve and suddenly frowned.

She stepped forward and handed over her jade teapot, saying, "The ghosts and the remains of those Kunlun disciples are all here." Pei Wenjing's gaze fell on the teapot in her hand.

The crude purple clay teapot lay in her palm, covered in signs of use—fingerprints, tea stains… unlike their jade teapots.

He took the teapot from Shen Cangyu and handed it to the Kunlun disciple: "Take this back with you, Sect Leader."

After putting the teapot away, they bowed and left.

Shen Cangyu rubbed her fingers together when suddenly something flew towards her, tracing an arc. She instinctively caught it and saw that it was a delicate, small jade pot with a narrow spout, made of mutton fat jade, still warm to the touch.

"Your pot is gone, take mine for now," Pei Wenjing said, turning his head away from her and walking in one direction.

Xu Qiubai shifted his gaze from the teapot in Shen Cangyu's hand, smiled again, and followed behind Pei Wenjing, asking, "By the way, Senior Brother, how are we going to get back? It's so far from Kunlun. If we walk, it will probably take half a year."

Pei Wenjing said, "Taking the mountain path is indeed not an option, but there are other ways to get back to Kunlun faster."

"What method?"

"Waterway, by boat, across the sea."

Taking a boat...

By boat?

Take a boat.

Let's take a boat!!!

The mention of taking a boat reminded Shen Cangyu of a certain damned person.

As soon as Xu Qiubai's ability to glimpse the heavens ended, the green frame in her mind also disappeared. Now she couldn't see the plot within the green frame, and she didn't know if the transmigrator had come, nor did she know whether Shen Qingyan's original body was dead or not...

The green box that appeared in her mind last time only contained the plot related to that demonic cultivator; the rest of the text was blurry, and she couldn't see any more lines.

Could it be that she needs to find a way to trick Xu Qiubai again so that he can use his Taoist magic to see the secrets of heaven and activate the green frame in her mind?

What should we do? What should we do?

Now they are about to board a ship bound for Kunlun...

What if they are on the same ship as Shen Qingyan?

What if they happen to encounter a shipwreck on this journey, and are implicated by Shen Qingyan, falling into the sea and perishing together?

What if they encounter a shipwreck, but Pei Wenjing and his companions manage to turn the tide and save everyone on board, including Shen Qingyan, using their mental skills and Taoist magic?

What if Shen Qingyan reveals that he is from Penglai, thus exposing her lie about her identity?

just in case……

She had to find a way to stop these people and find another way to get back to Kunlun, at least not by boat.

At least I shouldn't run into Shen Qingyan.

"Besides taking a boat, is there any other way?" Shen Cangyu asked softly, making up an excuse for herself, "I get seasick. Taking a boat makes me dizzy, nauseous, and weak all over..."

Pei Wenjing didn't turn around, and said calmly, "You came from Penglai, didn't you? You came by boat."

She was speechless, unsure how to respond.

Pei Wenjing heard the person behind him fall silent and only said one sentence in his heart.

fraud.

"Coming by boat doesn't conflict with my seasickness..." Shen Cangyu muttered softly.

Xu Qiubai couldn't understand the problem and just chimed in, "That's right, that's right. Penglai is at sea. There's no other way to get here from Penglai except by boat."

Pei Wenjing's mind flashed back to the first time he saw Shen Cangyu, and he closed his eyes.

A liar, a liar whose mouth is full of lies.
