Chapter 32 The Great Immortal Kicks Down a Little Tiger

Chapter 32 The Great Immortal Kicks Down a Little Tiger

"Why are you running so fast?" Elder Huang walked out of the corridor, looked at Shen Cangyu's appearance, and then looked up at the tall statues around him.

Most of the statues in Kunlun are built to be huge, so at first glance they can be quite frightening.

She sighed and pulled Shen Cangyu into her arms: "Why are you so frightened? It seems this Hall of Good and Evil is really not suitable for you." With that, she made a hand seal, and wind swirled around her, forming a fish-shaped cart.

"Swift as a whiz".

A storm arose, causing the candlelight in the Hall of Good and Evil to flicker. She embraced Shen Cangyu and vanished into thin air.

Shen Cangyu felt a warm breeze envelop her, which lessened the chilling feeling considerably, but her wildly beating heart still hadn't calmed down.

"Qianhe!" Elder Huang landed on Yunmeng Marsh in Xiaoyaoyou and called out to the surroundings.

But the only response she received was the sound of the wind blowing through the peach trees.

"Strange, where did they go again? This Yunmeng Marsh is so big, I haven't seen a single person." She muttered, looking down at Shen Cangyu, who was clinging tightly to her clothes.

She only knows how to play with children, not how to soothe them. We need to find someone to take over as soon as possible.

She made a hand seal, and the fish-drawn carriage started again, flying towards the Forest of All Beings where she inquired about the plight of all living beings.

As soon as Elder Huang landed in the Forest of All Beings, the birds and beasts around him scurried away. The man surrounded by the birds and beasts looked up at the person who had descended from the sky and couldn't help but ask, "Isn't Elder Huang on duty today? Why didn't you go to the Scripture Pavilion or find a place to hide and drink? Instead, you came to our Forest of All Beings?"

Elder Huang snatched the person from her waist and stuffed her into Lu Sheng's arms, saying, "Here, this is for you." After saying that, she disappeared without a trace.

When Lu Sheng saw Shen Cangyu in his arms, he exclaimed in surprise, "Isn't this Qiu Sheng's junior sister? Why is she here with Elder Huang?"

She took Shen Cangyu's hand and said softly, "Are you here to find Qiu Sheng? She went out with Qianhe and Duodu, ordered to recruit new Kunlun disciples in the mortal realm. She probably won't be back for several months. If you miss her, you can send a message to her name tag."

Lu Sheng is Lu Yuan's older sister. She, Qiu Sheng, Lu Qianhe, and Liang Duo grew up together and have a deep bond. She has only met Shen Cangyu once, but she often hears information about her from Qiu Sheng.

Shen Cangyu had only been in Kunlun for a few months, yet she had already replaced Pei Wenjing as Qiu Sheng's favorite junior. The children Qiu Sheng liked were probably similar in temperament to her. But looking at Shen Cangyu's dazed expression, she felt she didn't resemble Qiu Sheng's description at all; instead, she seemed more like Lu Qianhe.

Lu Sheng resisted the urge to scratch her chin and asked, "How about I take you to play with the little deer?"

The Forest of All Beings was filled with the scent of earth and grass, the air moist and warm. It was spring-like all year round, brimming with the vitality of life, dispelling the gloomy deathly aura that clung to Shen Cangyu's bones. Shen Cangyu snapped out of his reverie and asked, "Has Lu Yuan recovered?"

When Shen Cangyu last visited the Forest of All Beings, Lu Yuan was still in the form of a large fish, only able to swim in the water and unable to speak. The disciple of Wen Cangsheng told her that Lu Yuan's soul was still unable to separate from the large fish and would need some time to return to normal.

No sooner had she finished speaking than a clear voice rang out from afar: "Sister, the fox spirit is stealing food again!"

Shen Cangyu turned her head and saw a girl with pigtails running towards her from afar. When the girl saw Shen Cangyu, her eyes suddenly lit up: "Cangyu!"

She pounced without slowing down, plunging headfirst into Shen Cangyu's arms, almost knocking her soul out of her body.

Lu Yuan hugged her and rubbed against her repeatedly, saying, "I can finally touch you."

Shen Cangyu's soul returned to its place, and he realized that the person in front of him was Lu Yuan in human form.

Lu Yuan, still holding Shen Cangyu, didn't forget his origins and shouted at Lu Sheng, "Sister, please do something about the Fox Immortal! I haven't even had a chance to speak with the Five Immortals yet, and it's already swallowed them whole. If it keeps eating them, all the immortals at our cave entrance will be gone!"

As she complained, the lizard perched on her head opened its mouth and hissed in agreement.

"Okay, I'll go take a look." Lu Sheng got up and patted the dirt off his clothes.

Lu Yuan pulled Shen Cangyu along behind him, introducing her to his own Shengzhong Forest.

The Forest of All Beings is where the Daoist Wen Cang Sheng lives. Wen Cang Sheng believes that all things have spirits and that all things can become immortals. Unlike other Daoist sects, whose immortals reside in the heavens, Wen Cang Sheng's immortals reside on earth.

The Forest of All Beings has many cave entrances, and different disciples live in different cave entrances, worshipping different immortals.

The cave where the Lu family worships four immortals. The eldest immortal is a gluttonous white fox, known as the "Great Fox Immortal." The second immortal is a green snake with a hundred years of cultivation. Somehow, it found its way to the cave and settled there. In recent years, the two immortals have been in a semi-conscious state, only appearing when the cave faces a crisis.

The three immortals were summoned by Lu Sheng; one of them was a long-feathered black bird. The four immortals that Lu Yuan contacted were the lizard they had seen before.

"Is the Five Immortals the big fish you encountered at sea?" Shen Cangyu asked.

Lu Yuan, however, puffed out his cheeks and said, "That big fish hasn't been enlightened yet, so it can't be considered an immortal. I'm just borrowing its body."

Lu Sheng explained from the side, "She always felt that the immortals at our cave entrance weren't as imposing as others, and she always wanted to ask a strong and terrifying immortal to keep things in order, right?"

Lu Yuanchao grinned and made a face at her.

Lu Sheng covered his mouth and laughed, "The little tiger you just begged for will soon become the Fox Immortal's meal."

After they finished speaking, they stopped in front of a mansion.

Although the entrance to the cave in the Forest of All Beings is called "Cave," it is not a real cave, but a mansion. The name "Cave" is just a name that has been passed down from the early days and has not been changed to this day.

Lu Sheng pushed open the door and entered. As soon as he stepped inside, he saw a large white tiger cowering in a corner, trembling with fear. A white fox gracefully strode around it. The white fox was much smaller than the white tiger, but its aura was overwhelming, making the tiger afraid to even breathe.

"Your Five Immortals aren't very impressive either," Lu Sheng commented.

Lu Yuan retorted defiantly, "That's because the Great Fox Fairy scared it. Its cultivation isn't as deep as the Great Fox Fairy's, so it's normal that it doesn't dare to raise its head in front of the Great Fox Fairy. As long as it's imposing enough when facing others, that's fine."

As soon as he finished speaking, the white tiger looked over and saw Shen Cangyu behind the group. It let out a desperate howl.

Shen Cangyu stared at the large white tiger in the distance. Its familiar figure and markings... She gasped. Could this be the white tiger she had killed when she was first reborn? But wasn't that white tiger dead? She had even sold its body. How could it be back in the Forest of All Beings?

"Five Immortals!" Lu Yuan stretched out his hand towards it, "No!"

The white tiger tilted its body and fell to the ground, its mind made up. Seeing this, the white fox licked its tongue and swallowed its soul.

It took Lu Yuan forty-nine days to refine the soul of this great white tiger, and now all her efforts had been in vain. She almost burst into tears: "I will never pay attention to the Fox Immortal again!"

The white fox licked its paws contentedly, looked at Lu Yuan innocently, and pointed to itself: "Me?"

It burped: "It killed itself, I didn't do anything."

It smacked its lips, seemingly savoring the moment: "That little tiger is cowardly and incompetent. It can't even beat the little kid behind you. Instead of using it to guard the cave entrance, you might as well send me a few more little tigers. If I'm full, I can easily take down anyone else with a flick of my claws."

Lu Yuan didn't hear anything else, only remembering the second half of its sentence, and cried to her older sister, "It still wants to eat!"

Unfortunately, on this point, Lu Sheng and Fox Immortal shared the same view: "What the Immortal said is true. Among all the caves in the Forest of All Beings, Fox Immortal ranks among the top in terms of both cultivation and reputation. Instead of looking for a new immortal, you might as well entrust your sincerity to Fox Immortal."

The fox spirit nodded, very satisfied with Lu Sheng's words: "I knew you were a sensible child. I could tell from when you were still an infant that you had potential and would surely achieve great things in the future."

Lu Sheng smiled. She knew that this old fox was never short of sweet talk. She simply said, "However, I hope that in the future, the Great Immortal will be lenient with my sister's spirit and not let things like today happen again. My sister went through a lot of trouble for this tiger spirit. If you want to eat it, I will find you something else."

The fox spirit licked its paws: "These hundreds of years of cultivation haven't been for nothing. I know what's good for me. I won't touch anything good easily. I only eat cowards." With that, it raised its head, flicked its tail, and disappeared.

Lu Yuan pouted, looking sullen.

Lu Sheng had no choice but to change the subject: "Little Lu, you have failed quite a few courses. In a while, when the new students from Kunlun arrive and classes reopen, you will have to continue studying. This time, you must pass all the exams and not be kept after school again, understand?"

Hearing Lu Sheng's words, Shen Cangyu also remembered that since arriving in Kunlun, all she had done every day was exercise and swordsmanship. Kunlun's classes were held every three years, where teachers would impart knowledge about the origins of Daoist arts and the application of inner alchemy techniques. For example, disciples of the Xingxiang Hall would also receive an additional course in alchemy.

When she arrived, the previous class had already ended. She thought she would have to wait another year to participate in class, but she didn't expect that there would be another class so soon.

"Why are there newcomers in Kunlun?" Lu Yuan asked. In the past, every year, when Kunlun disciples or elders went out, they would occasionally bring back a few disciples who caught their eye to Little Kunlun. Every once in a while, Little Kunlun would hold a disciple competition, and inner disciples would also go to watch the competition. In the competition, they would select disciples who were suitable for their own Daoist methods to enter the inner sect.

The inner disciples have always valued quality over quantity, and it's more about fate and compatibility. She had never heard of such a large-scale recruitment before.

"With the Five Evils descending upon the world, the elders realized that those demonic cultivators were difficult to deal with, so they had to step up their efforts to train new disciples so that the Daoist arts could be passed down." Lu Sheng sighed.

Lu Yuan couldn't help but tug at her clothes: "What do you mean by inheritance... Doesn't Kunlun have you all? Why are you afraid that the Daoist arts will be lost?"

Her eyes were filled with panic: "Sister, are these five evils really that difficult to deal with? Do you also have to get rid of them...? Will you die?"

Lu Sheng looked at her, squatted down, took her hand, and said, "Sister doesn't know, but sister will try her best to live."
